Avatar f tn I recently started having to take gabapentin and it seems to be making me swell really bad! It makes my feet, legs, hands, & face swell up. Is this normal? Avatar m tn Hello! It seemed to be taking forever to heal with a hard cast and nwb crutches. In late December I had an MRI. The MRI shows almost complete bony union of the fracture (good) but also shows moderate to severe bone marrow edema all along the shaft and head of the bone. I'm still in a fair amount of pain. It comes and goes but hurts more often than not. It's not severe - maybe a 5 or 6 at its peak - but it's annoying. It's a deep, burning kind of pain.
1553907 tn?1367609586 OK, I got ill the day after Mother's day last year, and that ended me in the hospital for 4 days (diarrhea but it was only blood, not feces). Bloodwork, xray, CT scan, gastroscopy, endoscopy, ultrasound, and no answers. Platelets are steadily getting higher (testing every 3 months) currently at over 700,000. WBC is above normal, suggested I take Aspirin. I also have Petechiae all over my body, with newer ones showing up all the time, and I wake up with bruises.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am on 3000 mg. of Gabapentin now too, and I'm finding it does not seem to help the pain and spasms in my legs. I am also on Baclofen, and tried Zanaflex but coudl not tolerate the Zanaflex., even at a small dose. The Baclofen seems to help with spacisity, but not the pain, so we still have the stiffness and pain, and that ICE COLD feeling that we get in the calf muslcles of my legs. Why are you going off the Gabapentin?
Avatar n tn I suffer from migraine headaches and prior to surgery was on gabapentin. After surgery, I switched to topamax which helps reduce my headaches. I am 52 years old. My question is three-fold: Can my white matter changes be the result of the surgery? The result of taking topamax because I've only been taking it since my surgery? The cause of my migraines?
Avatar m tn I can relate..i've had a numb face for 9 months now..only on the left side..it's off and on but bloody annoying....lately i've developed pain especially when out in cold or in air conditioning..my face and side of head burn like they're on fire and throb..been to countless doctors..had a CT scan..dental xray and blood work to which they found nothing...getting very tired of it so i know how frustrating it is...believe me..
Avatar n tn This treatment may include medications (non-steroidals such as advil), sometimes steroids if there is swelling (edema), temperature therapy (hot or cold packs), stretching and controlled physical therapy, muscle relaxants, and so on, these are best prescribed by an experienced physician, each has its own indications.

Avatar m tn This is true of gabapentin and pregabalin which were originally invented for seizures. Pregabalin is similar to gabapentin but has less side effects and often people who can not tolerate gabapentin benefit from pregabalin. However it is more expensive. The same is true for medications such as amitryptiline, which was originally used for depression but is now a mainstay of treatment for neuropathic pain. However, it has several side effects and may not be used in patients with heart problems.
Avatar f tn I began taking Gabapentin for the electricity and muscle spasms in my legs. My initial dose was 100 mg at bedtime. Now, I am up to 100 mg 3 times daily. It has helped greatly, but recently I have been having some break-through spasms. I do not recall having had any "vibrations" from the medication itself.
Avatar f tn I have taken gabapentin and xanax for 10+ years without problems. Xanax is a shorter acting benzodiazapine then librium. You may find you need less librium with gabapentin.
Avatar n tn For a perspective, pulmonary edema (water in the lungs) and pneumonia are separate issues. Pulmonary edema is usually related to LV dysfunction. It appears the underlying problem is the mitral valve sclerosis (narrowing of opening) and mitral valve regurgitation. The valve problems can stress the heart and cause it to enlarge, and/or an ischemic enlarged LV can aggravate the valve problems especially MVR.
Avatar f tn ve been doing some reading online and from my findings edema does show up with a mass and can prevent them from finding it in an mri.
Avatar f tn I had a migraine new to me about a month ago went to a neurologist he prescribed meythpredislone 21 pack and after that was completed he prescribed neurotin gabapentin which I am very afraid of taken but I started taken 1 before I go to bed. Why did the neurologist prescribed that if it was just for headaches?
Avatar m tn I am currently using 8mg of buprenorphine,1800mg of gabapentin and 150mg of wellbutrin daily as medicine for pain management and nerve pain. Now I'cant obtain gabapentin anymore and would like to transfer to oxycodone 120mg daily as a substitute for buprenorphine and gabapentin.I would like to know is such change possible.
Avatar n tn 2) With the edema being bilateral and equal is there any other test recommended at all to figure this out? 3) Presuming this is a valid school of though, do the symptoms directly come from the edema/impared venous return? Or is the edema just co-existing? (ie-- Would diurectics help the palpitations, etc. even if they don't figure out the root problem?) Still a mystery after almost a year...getting worse actually.
Avatar f tn I have had the edema on and off, and my Endo used to check my ankles when I had an office visit, so with Hashi's it is common, although I have not had shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn I had a total hip replacement 12/09/2010 and have had foot and ankle edema since. Within the last few months, I have developed foot and ankle edema in the left foot as well. I do not have any liver or pancreatic disease but just found out that I do have a gallstone. I have no symptoms pertaining to the gallstone. I have Hypothyroidism and am on Levothyroxin 100 mcg Monday through Friday, 50 mcg on Saturday and none on Sunday.
Avatar m tn sciatic nerve damage. The Gabapentin works great, aside from the fact that I get brain fog and drowsiness. This drug separates me from pain, however, makes me a zombie! Does anyone know of a drug or supplement that I can take with the Gabapentin to combat the somnolence?
Avatar f tn An edema is a buildup of fluid. A bone marrow edema — often referred to as bone marrow lesion — occurs when fluid builds up in the bone marrow. Bone marrow edema is typically a response to an injury such as a fracture or conditions such as osteoarthritis. Bone marrow edema usually resolves itself with rest and physical therapy. Osteitis pubis is a condition in which there’s inflammation where the right and left pubic bones meet at the lower front part of the pelvis.
Avatar m tn I have Congenital nystagmus and tried gabapentin but it seemed to be making the Nystagmus worse. I started taking bupropion at the same itme, and suspect the bupropion may have interfered with the initial trial of gabapentin. I need the bupropion for the anxiety associated with Nystagmus, but I know it causes blurred vision and convergence problems. Should I even bother to try memantine? Thanks.
