Avatar f tn However, it has one horrible and very common side effect, which is intense hunger and weight gain. I gained 50 pounds on Mirtazapine and even after quitting, I really have a hard time getting rid of them.
Avatar f tn ll feel good or is it the withdrawal from fluoxetine and the mirtazapine trying to get in my system and over ride the fluoxetine and I will feel better when I'm at a steady dose of mirtazapine.
Avatar f tn do you think i will be ok to have my 75mg effexor and 20mg prozacin the morning and 15mg of mirtazapine at night for the next 2 weeks and then ween off the effexor. and stay on 20mg of prozac and 15mg of mirtazapine. and then eventually come off the 15mg of mirtazapine when i feel ok with the 20mg of prozac.
Avatar f tn ve tried Fluoxetine and it worked to some extent, but I had to discontinue because I experienced severe dry mouth/throat to the point I'd wake up in the middle of the night and cough for a half an hour (even drinking a full glass of water at bedtime didn't help) and that affected my sleep quality ... Could be due to the high dosage (60mg) I was on ... It took this much for Fluoxetine to ease my depression. Now I've switched to a combination of Bupropion 200mg + Fluoxetine 20mg.
Avatar m tn I was put on Effexor after weeks of panic attacks that turned into depression as I was to scared to leave the house even with somebody I just wanted to be at home where I felt safe, Effexor after a few weeks were my life saver until I weaned off them and was panic free for 3 years then bang it came back went on another med fluoxetine and again had to wait a few weeks to feel back to normal which I did for 12month then weaned off until 5 weeks ago bang it came back again and they put me back on
Avatar m tn I had my first episode when I was 22 , and the second 4 years later, after a similar occasion. I then started fluoxetine 20 mg, which worked miraculously, with no side effects whatsoever. However, after quitting, I always seemed to get depression back, so I went back on it.I also tried therapy, with no results. After a few years my doctor switched me to Sertraline, and for the first time , I began to get tremor, an annoying peri-oral sensation with some mild jaw tremor and severe bruxism.
Avatar f tn t feel like the normal me, my questions are is this dose to high for me or is this med not working an I need to go back there a different one been on fluoxetine and venlafaxine in the past and it worked but 2nd time round in them both they didn't, what is my next best option to feel back to normal again and to enjoy life, can u go back to my doctor after day 4 and say it's making me feel rubbish and the day is a total daze?
Avatar m tn day and night i would think about it. I contacted my psychiatrist who increased the dose of fluoxetine from 20 mg to 60 mg and decreased olanzapine from 5 mg to 2.5 mg. The medications certainly helped in the sense that my anxiety lessened a bit and also i started feeling less depressed. The problem is that whenever i start reading something or listening to someone i become conscious of the multifarious stimuli and i am not able to pay selective attention properly.
Avatar m tn Hello. I was taking 30mg of mirtazapine at bedtime. Then, on friday I took only 15mg. On saturday I did a lot of sports and running and didn't take any Mirtazapine. On sunday, I took four beers and haven't taken any Mirtazapine since then. On monday I was having headaches and was harder to think. Do you think this is because of the alcohol or just because of withdrawal symptons? Thank you.
1063764 tn?1272821064 If you took a lot of both drugs, Melatonin and fluoxetine. Would/could they do any serious damage? I am on fluoxetine and take melatonin regularly.
574042 tn?1217656418 Mirtazapine (Remeron) causes no gastrointestinal problems, sexual dysfunction, or insomnia over the long term, but difficulties are likely to occur early. Patients should be advised that while somnolence at the start of therapy may be "overwhelming," it usually lasts only 2-3 days. "You need to counsel patients to stick with it," he said. Increased appetite and weight gain also may be marked in the first stage of therapy but will generally plateau after 2-3 months.
Avatar f tn Yes I suffer from the same problems as you describe above and have been on and off fluoxetine for several years for major depression and I can reassure you that the side effects as far as increased anxiety at the beginning of treatment are common and I have had to take an antianxiety medication for the first couple of weeks to combat this effect. In 2-3 weeks it should subside and that's usually when I also start to feel the desired effect of fluoxetine.
543959 tn?1301315419 hello, just wondered if anyone has any advice, im currently taking 40mg of fluoxetine but feel this is not quite enough, my doc wont prescribe me 60mg dose but instead has given me 10mg buspirone to take alongside the fluoxetine. has anybody taken this combination of meds and is it helpful?
Avatar f tn I’ve been on mirtazapine for a year or so now and I’m happy with the results and my progress. I’ve recently had a bad knee cartilage injury and have been prescribed the painkillers. Codeine makes me tired let alone the mirtazapine but is there any concerns I should have otherwise?
Avatar f tn Thanks very much for your advice and experiences. i think i will just ask the doc if i can try fluoxetine/prozac again, hopefully with a diet pill to counteract the weight problems it causes me. My dad has atrial fibrilation and thinks id be mad to stay on a pill causing me pulse problems.
649598 tn?1239117215 I just started taking mirtazapine and I'm very worried about the "weight gain" risk. How big is this risk really? I mean if I only eat fruits and veg all the time anyway, how can I gain weight? Is there anyone out there who has been on mirtazapine awhile and can help me out with my questions?
Avatar f tn not sure what this means.. melatonin reduces the antidepressant effect of fluoxetine.. and then in the last sentence fluoxetine has lead to a measurable depletion of melatonin in people..
Avatar f tn hi, two moths ago i took 15 mg mirtazapine for sleep, and the next day my face look sagging and swollen , within week my lower cheek sunken in, anyone noticed the similar problem with mirtazapine or other antidepressants?

Avatar n tn m not big on side effects and all that. I have been taking paxil for 4 days now and on day two I realized that I was yawning so much that my jaw was starting to hurt (yawn) I cant stop. Im really really tired and the yawning is getting quite annoying. Is this normal and when does It usually stop? Im also obese weighing in at 257.4 lbs with only a 5'2" height. Avatar n tn I am now trying to remove the mirtazapine and cut the 7.5mg cold turkey and was awake all night not having it and severe panic attacks in the night and during the day with severe nausea. So now Im trying to take a 1/4 tablet of mirtazapine which is approx 3.75mg. How should I go about this? I do have a doctor appointment booked as I think withdrawal is already an issue.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent. My psychiatrist prescribed a starting dose of sertraline of 50mg/day. Since starting the sertraline again i have been suffering from physiological anxiety symptoms such as a tight throat, lump in throat, trouble swallowing and breathing, etc.
1166402 tn?1303847056 s action on dopamine and norepinephrine might be the only thing you need more and especially since mirtazapine is sedative and Wellbutrin is stimulating. Taking both medications will take care of all your monoamines which are thought to contribute to depression. I would not recommend Effexor. Zoloft is usually good at treating GAD since it's a ''soft'' SSRI but I don't think it will do any better than Celexa.
Avatar f tn even when I went on the mirtazapine. My Dr. prescribed xanax for me and it helped hold me until the mirtazapine started working. I also take 30 mg. at night for depression.... I couldn't tolerate anything - made me agitated...
Avatar m tn I'm a 24 year old male and for the last 2 weeks i have been feeling weak and achy and stiff in my hands, arms and legs. It's like everything feels like a effort to do like walking up and down the stairs, Picking up objects like kettle, cup, fork and knife etc. I started getting twitches all over my body. Mainly in my legs. But for the last couple of days those twitches seemed to have gone and i only get them occasionally.
475300 tn?1312423126 weight gain, sleeplessness, too sleepy during the day, lethargy, sweating, upset stomach, constipation and on and on and on..., you get the picture. I just decided to give up on them and do something different.
Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
