Is this a valid cause for concern?  I DONT want higher blood pressure and heart rate.  Should I continue taking the Xanax as prescribed if I dont wish to take the lexa? Also is it possible to just medicate myself on Xanax and skip the antidepressants altogether!?

Doctors will sometimes prescribe a benzodiazapine like xanax or a beta-blocker to counter these effects. Nearly 90% of people with depression have combroid anxiety disorders which benzodiazapines are most commonly prescribed for. So it isn't rare for a patient who is trying adderal to help treat depression to already be prescribed Xanax, Klonopin or Ativan.

This is one possibility .

Avatar n tn Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! If you have high blood pressure, I am not sure why bisystolic is being withdrawn—maybe due to low pulse—but 63 is manageable—not dangerously low. Normally you can take it with Xanax, but it is contraindicated with fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil). There are no bisystolic withdrawal symptoms as such but because you are not taking Xanax, the symptoms of anxiety can go up. Also a high BP can make you feel unwell, heavy headed and anxious.
