Avatar m tn Thank you Nurse girl, I will try my best, I wish you happy holidays and a great year to come... Do you think my fluoxetine will kick in in days and I will be motivated again? And is it normal sometimes to increase the dosage? I feel very bad because of the increase!
Avatar f tn m posting this here as well as in the anxiety forums, in the hope that someone may answer. I am taking Fluoxetine 20mg for anxiety and depression, and have been taking it for just over a week. How long before I begin to see any benefits? Also, two more questions - they may seem trivial, but they are bothering me - is it safe to break open the Fluoxetine capsules, as I can not swallow them? Also I am taking 5mg Diazepam - is that safe?
Avatar n tn If you suddenly stop taking fluoxetine, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as mood changes, irritability, agitation, dizziness, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, anxiety, confusion, headache, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.

Avatar m tn My brother went to a psychiatrist and he prescribed him fluoxetine and xanax. He said that my brother should take one 20mg tablet of fluoxetine for the morning and 0.5 tablet for xanax for morning and night for 14 days . He said to take the 0.5 mg xanax tablet half in morning and the other half at night So, my brother took the fluoxetine and xanax for 14 days and then again went to the psychiatrist. My brother has not felt any improvement for his ocd or depression from the tablets.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 40mg propanolol 3 times a day for 2 years for anxiety and have just been prescribed 20mg of fluoxetine to be taken daily to tackle depression but the doctor never said anything about stopping taking the propanolol, although everything I've found online says it's a dangerous combination. Is it safe to take them both together or should I be replacing the propranolol with the fluoxetine?
20003388 tn?1515166040 Unfortunately yes, I have tried CBT for both sleep and my anxiety disorders as well as my OCD and never had any success. As far as asking my doctor's, I've come to realize they know very little about the medications they prescribe. I recently found out the average doctor only has to take a 3 month course on medications (not sure exactly how true this is, my therapist claims this is true. He has 4 phd's and a masters.
Avatar m tn Concomitant use of tramadol and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine increases the risk of seizures and serotonin syndrome. It may also reduce the pain relieving properties of the tramadol. If you must take tramadol, do not take it at the same time as fluoxetine. Try to take tramadol and imitrex a few hours apart from the fluoxetine.

Avatar f tn , and she took me off Zoloft immediately and put me on Fluoxetine 20 mg. X 1 week and then bumped me to 40 mg. I experiended severe nausea and no appetite. 6 weeks later, I still have nausea from the Fluoxetine. Panic attacks are a little better but I am beginning to think I should have stayed on Zoloft because I can't recall feeling this bad. I am now seeing a psychiatrist and they have taken me down to 30 mg. of Fluoxetine in hopes of helping my nausea.

Avatar m tn Hello there, Fluoxetine or Prozac belongs to the group of antidepressants called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. (SSRIS). These drugs tend to cause less sedation and have different side effects to older antidepressants. Fluoxetine or Prozac elevates mood, increases physical activity and restores interest in everyday pursuits. Prozac is used to treat depression , to reduce binge eating and purging activity ( bulimia nervosa) and to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Avatar n tn Hello, When you do recreational drugs it creates an imbalance in your endorphins that brain makes that makes you feel good. You were creating a artificial high and your brain was pumping so many endorphins on command that now it is having trouble producing the endorphins without the artificial push. It will take months if not years for your brain to go back to its normal chemistry.

Avatar f tn Ive had physicals on everything, heart (ecg), full bloods, std test, I'm 30, tried valium, deralin (beta blocker). 200 pounds, 6'2". Normal thyroid function. One doctor said anxiety (on fluoxetine) another said benign tremors. Started coming on at the beginning of the year. I am healthy apart from this. I am now diagnosing adjustment disorder as the cause because of a change in living location. But any help would be appreciated.
