They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications. Treatment is by oral antihistamines.

1139187 tn?1355706647 I had a lot of those same side effects plus hives and pain in my calves like ants biting. I'll probably have to get a cortisone shot to get over the hives. Doctor didn't say what to do after injection, just come back for the next one. I refused the next one and am afraid to take anymore. The only question he asked: was I allergic to eggs or chicken. Well, I eat both, so did not expect a reaction. Would have rather had the cortisone shot to the knee!
