The finger has also had a slight knot on the pointer finger side of the last knuckle. I have had pain something like this before, but not as bad. The finger is almost unusable. I have taken 400mg of ibuprophen to decrease the pain. Thank you for your time.

I am having some knuckle pain on my right hand on my middle finger, however i do not remember hurting my hand at all, there is no swelling and i can keep it in the straight position however when i bend it the pain comes. any suggestions?

If it is carpel then the pain should be in the thumb, index finger and middle finger area of your hand. If it is the outside two fingers of your hand then it would suggest the ulnar nerve. Considering you experience it in arm, feet, legs; I would suggest talking to your doctor and let them lead you in the right direction for testing and diagnosis.

about 6 months ago i started to experience pain in my right hand around the middle knuckle- but more the area between the pointer and middle finger from the base of the finger to the middle of the top of my hand. its often swollen and i noticed a bruise on the top of my hand in that area today. i had an xray when the pain started and they saw nothing.

I posted prior about pain in my knuckle starting in my left index finger knuckle. Since then, in early January of this year it transferred to the opposite knuckle. I went in to get tests done and they came back negative for RA, OA, and gout. Everything looked good on the x-rays and there was no cartilage worn down on the joints. Since I got it tested, the pain has continued to transfer to surrounding knuckles but not to the same pain level as the original left index finger knuckle.

Hello~If it is still hurting, I suggest seeing a chiropractor or your GP, you may have a small, hairline fracture in your finger and that is what is causing you to still have the pain, or you may have dislocated it. Both the GP and Chiropractor will take an x-ray of the finger, if it is broken, the GP will be able to help, if it is dislocated, then the chiropractor can help.

Non-dominant index finger, base knuckle, every now and then, sporadically, excruciatingly sharp pain to the touch on the underside of the finger at that base area. Even feel the same pain when holding the finger in certain positions. Other positions, no pain. Seems a little swollen. But the main symptom is a sharp stabbing pain as if it was broken - but it isn't. What the heck is doing that?

I have a friend in Virginia who had the exact trouble in the knuckle of her middle finger. She did'nt cut it open, but she soaked it in warm salt water, advice she'd gotten from an elderly woman at her church. After she soaked it the pain became unbearable & she went to her Dr. His diagnosis was Gout. He performed outpatient surgery to remove the infection. She's fine now, but she had a rough time of it. She's 82 years old.

Kinda felt like my point finger tendon that pulls my finger open was a little swollen and hurt to the touch and operate my finger. These are not excruciating, just very annoying. I will limp a little if one is on top of my quad, or my hip, or my foot. Rarely ill get one in my knee an my knee will visually be swollen and very painful to the touch and to walk on. I'll usually have only one at a time although occasionally two.

Could it be a sign of gout?? She called today and said that her middle finger was swollen from the middle joint out to the end when she woke up this morning. She can hardly bend it. Said that she hadn't jammed it or anything. Thinks it may be gout.

I have arthritis and the only thing that helps (over the counter) with joint/bone pain is Aleve. For gout, you should see your doc for sure. Try soaking in a hot bath with Epsom Salts, as that might help too. Best to you!

Gout is caused by excess uric acid which is a renal function.Both Hep C and interferon have been known to cause kidney problems.Your friend needs an appointment at a renal unit.
