Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome last jan 20, and i had it released just this october 18, but why is it that i still having wrist and finger pain, after my carpal tunnel surgey.
Avatar m tn It can be due to nerve compression which can be due to carpal tunnel syndrome. This occurs due increased pressure on the nerve secondary to hereditary, hypothyroidism, obesity etc. The other possibilities are diabetes, vitamin B5 and B12 deficiency and fibromyalgia. You need to undergo evaluation like thyroid status, blood sugar, CSF analysis and certain serological tests.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know what could be causing this. Ive read you can get carpal tunnel while being pregnant but I though carpal tunnel affected your wrists more.

Avatar n tn Hi There can be several causes for numbness of the index finger such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Peripheral Neuropathy, Multiple Sclerosis, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Frostbite, Raynaud's Phenomenon and vasculitis. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common source of hand numbness and pain. It is due to the increased pressure on the median nerve that enters the hand through the carpal tunnel.
Avatar f tn I have 3 weeks left and i have been experiencing carpal tunnel. Doc said its normal due to more fluid and pressure on my nerves from the baby. Ihave been taking tylenol and using ben gay. 1794671 tn?1338795391 Yes, diabetes has been linked to both coeliac diasese and carpal tunnel; though carpal tunnel is more common with type 2 diabetes. However, this does not necessarily mean that the symptoms you experience are definitely due to carpal tunnel, and other possibilities like infections/ inflammations, degenerations, neuro-muscular issues, vascular cases, bone/joint causes, micronutrient deficiencies etc may need to be considered as well.
Avatar n tn Typing injury, or Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) refers to a wide range of problems, of which Carpal Tunnel is the most well known. Symptoms involve pain in the hands and arms when typing and using the mouse, and generally end up making many daily activities painful or impossible. Burning, numbness, or tingling in your palm, wrist, thumb, or fingers also are the common symptoms encountered by most patients.
Avatar f tn My index finger on my left hand has a tingling sensation on the side of it and the fingertip is sensitive to the touch and I have excruciating shooting pain off and on all day in the finger and under the nail. He is treating me for carpal tunnel. Is he correct treating me for carpal tunnel?
Avatar m tn These symptoms are suggestive of carpal tunnel syndrome, which is due to median nerve compression in the carpal tunnel at the wrist. Since median nerve is responsible for feeling and movement of the palm, thumb, index, middle finger and the thumb side of the ring finger, these areas may be affected. You have been engaged in repetitive hand and wrist movements, which can trigger the onset.
Avatar n tn Hello. Carpal tunnel syndrome seems a bit unlikely here. The pain seems to originate from the forearm. Does it originate somewhere around the elbow joint? Have you been using this particular arm or forearm excessively recently? If yes, this could be a muscular pain, which can be cured by giving rest to the arm and some massage.
432737 tn?1358549432 I'm just over 34 weeks. For the last week or so, I've been waking up in the middle of the night and morning to really bad finger pain that lasts for aw hile! It's hard to bend my fingers and sometimes they make a popping feeling when I bend them. Middle three fingers on each hand are the worst. During the day, they're not "as" sore, but still a little. I can't seem to find anything about this in my baby books. My hands don't look swollen. Anyone else have this??
Avatar f tn I have experienced carpal tunnel syndrome with my pregnancy too.. its been for the last few months, but no where near as bad as yours sounds! Poor thing! Mine is worse early morning/night.. I've got weakness in my arms, numb finger tips and my middle finger and thumb are especially painful and often get stuck when I bend them.Luckily I haven't needed splints.
Avatar m tn Carpal Tunnel . . . Had it a few years back. If you can change the way you work with your hands, it will go away on it's own. If changing your work habits are not feesible, surgery can correct the problem. It depends on how bad it bothers you. I did not have the surgery.
Avatar f tn I'm 38 weeks and this last week started getting carpal tunnel. It's become almost unbearable and can't even move my fingers at night they hurt so bad. They hurt during the day also just not as bad. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to take care of my baby when he comes.
Avatar f tn The pins and needles with numbness can also be from carpal tunnel problems. When the carpal tunnel gets inflamed or thickened, the nerves inside of the carpal tunnel get pinched and this causes the pins and needles and numbness in the fingers. Problems in the little finger are usually from trapped nerves in the neck area. The nerve conduction tests will identify if you have carpal tunnel. Make sure that you support your wrist and hand.
Avatar f tn It depends on where the pain and numbness is. There is a cause of numbness of the index finger and middle finger called carpal tunnel syndrome. It usually also has sensory changes of the palm at the thumb, index and middle fingers, and the ring finger on the side near the middle finger. I am not sure if you have these other features or not, but I will elaborate on this. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a compression/entrapment syndrome of the median nerve at the wrist.
Avatar f tn s carpal is that the thumb through the middle finger side of the ring finger goes numb, somtimes the other side of the ring finger also, and the pinkie is not affectred at all. I remember the hand being very painful and "hot" when it came back from being numb. You might try starting another thread so people who have had TTs can respond to you.
Avatar n tn Have you been spending lots of time on a computer, word processor, or keyboard lately? If so, you may have some carpal tunnel symptoms going on, that typically presents with the thumb, index and middle finger symptoms. At any rate, it would probably be a great idea to go to your primary care physician and get evaluated for this problem. He/she will be able to some DTR's on that extremity to check for nerve related issues. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I get alot of pain when this accures in my pointing finger. It starts in the knukle of my poniter finger and then the burning sensation starts. It does this about a few times in the day. When I go to use that finger it also starts. What could be causing this?
Avatar f tn Your clinical presentation sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. This manifests as pain and paresthesias in the distribution of the median nerve, which includes the thumb, index, and middle fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms usually occur while holding an object or gripping a steering wheel for extended periods of time. They also tend to occur at night and may wake you during the night, or you may notice the numbness when you wake up in the morning.
Avatar f tn Could it be carpal tunnel? Walmarts has a brace to wear. My daughter has one and it helps her especially at night.
Avatar n tn 18th for those very symptoms. I had carpal tunnel and ulna nerve release sugeries. In 2005 I had arthoscopy surgery on my left shoulder due to spurs and my right shoulder in 2006. My reg Dr. sent me for a nerve test forget the name EMT?? not sure. Was diagnoised with the carpal tunnel and ulna nerve thing. Have insisions in hand and elbow( haven't seen yet) More annoying than painful but can lead to more serious problems.
