Avatar f tn All of a sudden the piece of skin in between my thumb and finger has become stiff. I don't think it would be trigger finger but i might be wrong. It won't go either. What can I do? It's hard to stretch my thumb away from the hand and spread my fingers without it hurting.

Avatar n tn I am 27 now and in the past year I have noticed that the same finger is becoming stiff. Today it caused me pain all day and its difficult for me to even type with it. Its stiff and kind of wants to naturally bend, but there is no clicking or popping. Is my trigger finger coming back or could this just be some type of arthritis? Has this happend to anyone else who has had trigger finger?
Avatar f tn ve been experiencing neck and back pain for more than a year now. it comes and goes away. At first i thought it was a stiff neck but the pain would last for months and the doctor gave me some meds which wasnt really helpful. Usually it starts out like a stiff neck and pain on my shouders then after a few days the stiffness goes away but everytime i turn my head to the left or raise my head upward i would feel pain along the right side of my spine.
Avatar f tn Literally overnight, I developed a hard nodule under my middle finger on the palm, and my finger started snapping into place and being stiff after waking in the morning. Some days the pain is pretty bad and other days it's hardly there. It is my right hand and I am right-handed. Is surgery the only option to correct this problem? I can't imagine being without my right hand. Thanks for your advice.
Avatar f tn My upper shoulders and neck are in spasms but now my back is stiff and I have sciatic type pain in my left leg, cramps in my thigh and aching hips. Do you think these new symptoms are related? I suppose it may be time to see a Doc. Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn I'm a 28 year old female and I have been having swelling, stiffness and pain of my right index finger knuckle for over 2 years. It started off as a little right itchy bump on my knuckle (it kind of looked like a welt) and it felt like it was on fire. I noticed it would flare up when it would rain and there was high humidity. From there it has progressed to swelling and it is usually stiff. It has been swollen for so long now that it has started to deform my joint.
Avatar n tn I have had type 1 diabetes for 38 years (I'm 48) with only eye complications (cataracts and minimal hemorrhaging - sight is 20/20 corrected). However, over the past year, I've had pain / stiffness in my left shoulder, wrist, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle..and it's getting worse, impacting everything I do. The pain worsens only AFTER I've done a simple activity including walking down the hall, typing on the computer, or lying flat.
Avatar m tn The pain is located at the back center of my wrist instead of the front. It's more tight/dull than pain. It's like something is pulling on my ringer/index finger making the knuckles stiff.
Avatar n tn I experience pins/needles, numb finger tips and my knuckles feel very stiff and painful (esp my middle finger) .. they often get stuck when I bend them! Ive been told its carpal tunnel syndrome and that it will go once bub arrives, its due to swelling in the wrist/hands and compressing nerves. It is very unpleasant though!!
1024532 tn?1380058352 I have been experiencing swollen joints in right hand the index and middle finger are also swollen. I have also a stiff jaw and ankles are weak. I also woke up with a stiff neck. I have been tested for RA and thyroid. Gave me a shot in joint of cortizone and I had bad reactions and still swollen and red. I went to ER Monday and they gave me Vicodin for pain. Has anyone else had similar symptons and still negative results on blood work for rhmeutoid arthritis? Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn * Why is the joint stiff? Is there material in the joint? Is it swollen inside? Is it due to damage to connective tissue? As an engineer, I need to know - can't help it. * What's the long-term prognosis? Will my finger regain normal range of motion? And will it be pain-free? * What can I do to help the healing process? Physical rehab? Medications (like anti-inflamatories, etc)? I'm doing stretching excercises.
Avatar f tn What you have is probably Scalene Myofascial Pain Syndrome. When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred to chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger.
Avatar m tn thanks for the advice. I took the bandage off permanently 1 week ago, for about 5 days prior I had been leaving it off for several hours at a time. The finger is still stiff and sore. I still can't make a complete fist and there is still a small amount of swelling and bruising at the lower knuckle. The odd thing is, I could swear the fracture was closer to the upper knuckle! Is any of this normal? Should it take this long for the stiffness to ease? Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn Ihave been on and off again having tingling and numbness of hands and feet. My left middle finger feels stiff, but I can still move it. I am scared that it'll stop working and that I have ALS. The finger also has pain as well when I flex it. I am wondering how long can a person have fasciculations before it progresses to weakness. Can a person having trigger finger be a symptoms of ALS? Can a person have weakness without atrophy?
Avatar n tn My index finger on my right hand has been swollen for quite a few months now. The swelling started spreading to my middle finger on the same hand. I went to a hand doctor, who did x-rays and an MRI. X-rays were normal, MRI showed "subcutaneous edema", which is swelling of the soft tissue in my two fingers. He ordered blood tests to test my ANA, RA, Uric Acid levels, white cell count, etc., which all came out normal.
Avatar m tn I had k-wire removed 10 days back from the index finger and middle finger of my right hand. However, both my fingers are very stiff, bent and swollen. There is hardly any movement in both of them. I have been doing physiotherapy (3-4 times a day for last 4 days). 1. Is this stiffness normal? I feel extreme pain as I try to straighten them 2. How long does it take for fingers to become normal?
572547 tn?1218924130 Having had only one surgery on one finger, my left hand is nearly normal, with just some stiffness in that finger. My right hand, after 2 surgeries to free 3 fingers, the most recent being this past January, isn't perfect. It's stiff -- but before the surgery it was both stiff and painful, unable to do anything and infuriating with the way my fingers randomly locked.
Avatar f tn I can move my pinkie finger, although it hurts if I get too adventurous. The pain seems to radiate down the side of my hand to my wrist, and my finger is tingly off and on. It feels cool as well, although I'm not moving it at my usual pace. The sensation when I move my hand/finger is more one of numbness than describable pain. When I first did it, I took a few Tylenol, and that seems to have helped.
Avatar m tn A few weeks later, I noticed I could feel a nerve fairly easy between my thumb and index finger. Here recently I've had a lot of headaches, muscle twitching and aching pain in my left arm/hand. I've noticed that my pinky finger can move but seems to move like I was double jointed or something. I seem to have a stiff neck every now and then but I feel like I've always had that. When I hold a cup or a glass of something in my left hand I shake really bad.
Avatar m tn Can someone please assist me ill desperate
Avatar m tn t been able to move that index finger for 4 weeks since the pins were still in there, as any movement in that finger caused extreme pain...but now my index finger seems to be stuck in that same position (slightly curved, as if holding a cup). I started OT the Thursday after the pins were removed, but I couldn't do half the tendon gliding exercises as I could not make a fist.
Avatar n tn Mid September, the exact same day, I developed sausage finger (one finger, my left index finger) the same exact time I developed a hacking, soupy cough. I was put on antibiotics which seemed to cure both my soupy cough and my enlarged finger. Once I was finished with the antibiotics, both my soupy cough and my inflamed finger have returned. I've been screened for tuberculosis and lung cancer. Any thoughts would be VERY welcome.
Avatar f tn Few things that can be given to you for improving the movement of your finger and reducing stiffness are a) Mobilization with heating modalities (paraffin wax bath) - in this procedure, a liquid like wax is heated to an extent that it can be a bearable temperature, and then the stiff finger is dipped for a few seconds. After few such dips, passive mobilization or assisted mobilization is done by a physiotherapist.
Avatar m tn Hurts to squeeze tightly, shake someones hand, and definitely cannot move the finger side to side. Moving the finger back toward the back of my hand doesn't hurt though. NSAIDS help only a little, but they tear my stomach up. Weird thing is that hot water makes it feel about 85% better instantly every time. Ice doesn't help much. Anybody have any clue what is wrong and what I can do to fix this?
Avatar m tn and foolishly i LICKED her vagina like a maddog and fingered her WHEN i had slight bleeding gum from brushing my teeth during the morning AND had little cut in my finger (i have bad habit of biting finger nails and the skin)...I KNOW...i am a very very nervous person. I licked for about 20 minutes or....
