Common Questions and Answers about Finger pain from mouse

Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 29 year old female. For the past two days I've had intense pain in my fingers and occassionally works its way into my forearm and shoulder. Usually the pain is at its worse during the night. It first starts with pins and needles then it feels like severe joint pain that gets worse. I've had this same finger hand pain before a few months back and it lasted for nearly a month then. At that time my doctor said it was trigger finger.
Avatar f tn This then presses on the nerve which then causes a pain right up to the elbow. Thumb and pointer finger are first to be affected. Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and key pad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between helps. A wrist support or arm support too helps and you have computer chairs with support for your spine and arm.
Avatar n tn Of late, I have noticed mild pain in my right hand and wrist especially when on the computer. The pain is more neuralgic type and not necessarily bone or muscle pain. I feel it is also finger specific, especially all my fingers other than my thumb and pinkie all of which I use to move the cursor. I am afraid I may have carpal tunnel. Please do suggest what to do now.

In your case the problem may have been there for a long time, but repeated clicking of the mouse or any such work (thus injuring the tendon of index finger) could have triggered the pain now.
Avatar f tn My dad caught a mouse in one of the sticky pads the other day.It looked so helpless I deiced to help it today. When I did I spoke in a soft low voice like I would to another anime or small child.I got most of it off the pad when it decided to jump back into it so I tried again. This time however it bit me.Not enough to make me bleed but still hurt.I washed my hands immediately and stayed away from the mouse after that. Right not my finger where it bit me is numb.

Avatar m tn t move my left hand(from elbow till limbs) it felt dead. so I used my right hand to pick my left hand up in the air tried opening and closing my limbs and after a minute or so it was alright. Although I don't feel anything now and it is feeling perfect....but for a second I thought I was paralyzed and that was horrible. Would you suggest me to see a doctor or practice any precautions while sleeping or it is just a normal thing? Thanks.
Avatar m tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred to chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. Repeated clicking of mouse of computer can injure the tendon of index, cause compression of median nerve and also cause this numbness. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar m tn I have 3 herniated discs one which causes nerve pain - This became much worse after a car accident but it started before that I have osteoarthritis - This is directly linked to guitar playing and the fingers I use most are the ones that are most visibly affected. I also get this kind of pain with doing anything too much with a specific finger, say using my pointer finger to control my laptop mouse pad.
Avatar f tn It's possible for hsv1 to travel to the eye from the mouth. They share the same nerve group. Herpes in the eye is not that common, statistically. The National Eye Institute (NEI) says an estimated 400,000 Americans have experienced some form of ocular herpes, with close to 50,000 new and recurring cases occurring each year. Avatar m tn The pain is located at the back center of my wrist instead of the front. It's more tight/dull than pain. It's like something is pulling on my ringer/index finger making the knuckles stiff.
Avatar m tn It can even be trigger finger where the joints lock up. Once you unlock the joint by moving your finger, the finger straightens. It can also be a tense tendon. Stretching and strengthening exercises may help. Please show this to your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
584818 tn?1218287801 The funny thing is, I actually switched to using my left hand for my computer mouse about 2 months ago. I cut back my computer use compared to months ago and years past. A couple of days ago when I woke up, my right hand had pain to make a fist and numbness in the index and ring finger. It would eventually go away and be fine all day. But when I awake the next morning - same thing. This just started a couple of days ago.
Avatar n tn My problem is that my index finger falls asleep when I write or even scroll with a computer mouse. Even when I exercise the index finger starts tingling. Its really weird this has never happened to me before. Can you help? I'm not sure if its serious enough to see a doctor. Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar f tn Sometimes a computer mouse is to blame for hand symptoms. Resting your wrist to use it or lifting a finger to use a mouse wheel can cause problems. But it could be something like a ganglion or sebaceous cyst pressing on a nerve, I suppose, or something pressing on nerves of the spine. Get it checked.
Avatar m tn You are able to shake it around and get the circulation to return to the area but if the nerve gets pinched off too long or remains pinched it blocks the circulation from being able to return and you have the numbness and pain, and can have nerve damage as a result. Continue to try to move it around, and roll and stretch your neck maybe you can eventually stretch the areas enough to unpinch the nerve.

Avatar f tn Hi Doni...I never use the little finger pad on my laptop...way to hard...a mouse is just easier. If you have a USB compatible mouse from your other computer you should be able to plug it into the laptop.
Avatar n tn Hi, Your symptoms may be a result of anxiety as well as nerve compression in the arm, wrist as well as back due to wrong posture and a lot of computer work. The finger symptoms may be a result of Carpal Tunnel syndrome resulting from Median nerve compression in the wrist. You need to go for MRI of spine, arm and wrist and consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn She thought she might have got a little something but the finger was still extremely painful with a very sharp pain and it was hugely swollen. So she bandaged it up and I was put on a course of anti biotics for about a week. I soaked it in hot water each day and finished the course. A big scab formed on the tip and all the skin peeled off, eventually the swelling went down and the pain got a lot better and the scab fell off.
