Fibromyalgia yoga therapy

Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia yoga therapy

Avatar f tn Yoga, with its low intensity exercise, breathing and meditation reduces the pain, fatigue and sleep problems associated with fibromyalgia. Researchers have found that yoga can offer a 30 percent reduction in fibromyalgia pain. That’s roughly in line with the relief offered by many drugs, and even better than some of them with none of the risk. Buy exercise bands and use them for stretching. I have my wife doing this and very light weights for a few years now and it's helped.

605458 tn?1539228808 Talked about low self-esteem, finding the authentic 'me' rather than shape shifting to please others. Also talked about panic attacks on way to Yoga, social anxiety causing and resulting in loneliness. Cried a lot. Took .25mg before Yoga. Had anxiety, but dealt with it. Good session.
1166402 tn?1303847056 I've been feeling calmer since starting the Remeron, but I'm still feeling pain in my legs and slight twitching (I've found trigger points). I just started Yoga and was wondering if this will help along with time. I've been stretching (on my own in the morning) and walking too. Should this tension go away after the a few months or what. Has anyone heard of trigger point therapy? Do you feel these physical symptoms still after being on medication and feeling more relaxed?
Avatar m tn I am starting on Monday and looking forward to it. Also yoga is good for Fibro. Not an aggressive yoga, but something that you can do from a DVDs at home. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn There are a slew of medications that should have been tried years ago and there are many new ones that have came out since that have proved very helpful for fibromyalgia. Together with those medication therapies physical therapy, exercise, weight loss, smoking cessation, meditation, yoga, Pilates, better sleeping patterns, etc.; all have been shown to work better long term then opiate maintenance.

981885 tn?1248585122 I have been putting up with this pain on and off for a year now and now it is spreading to my shoulders, back, knees and ankles but the pain is most dominate and painful in my ribs. Only one doctor said that it could be Fibromyalgia but he basically said that the pain will come and go for the rest of my life and I will have to learn to deal with it. After hearing that I gave up going to the doctors, but now the pains are getting harder to handle and I would really like help.

Avatar f tn Once I addressed the underlying problem that caused my Ptsd, I stopped using medical mj and started doing yoga and practicing mindfulness meditation. I got out of a very painful fibromyalgia period with the things I mentioned above, and have not had an episode in over a year. Like I said before, I stopped using med. mj but then started again for my back pain thinking I might have another episode about 10 months ago. When it never came, I stopped again.
723959 tn?1314744225 Dusty brought up a great point. I use to have private pilates, yoga classes and I had to stop everything. For years I would say I couldn't exercise. I even stopped massage therapy. It was all stressing my muscles and I would get one flare up after another. Seven months ago and 205 pounds after 5 surgeries on my back/neck I had enough. I though I'm exercising if it kills me. I had to take that weight off. I started on the bike at the gym. It started low back pain, my low back is fused.
336415 tn?1212359542 I am new to it...but I have also been doing light yoga. I am not a yoga type. But if you have a good guided practitioner in yoga, then you will walk away feeling sedated without drugs. It really takes effort to focus but if you roll with it, it helps you to settle a racing anxious mind. It is almost like a massage but on the brain. Again, I recommend a stress relief type of may not be for you but give it at least a couple of sessions.
7864743 tn?1394869696 It's possible that you are just a little toxic. You might try a green smoothie with parsley (removes chemicals and drugs) and cilantro (removes heavy metals). Add whatever else you want, but be sure to use these two herbs. Take probiotics also. If you have taken antibiotics at any time in the past, you have probably killed off the friendly flora. Stay away from Aspartame (diet drinks and chewing gum). Wishing you the best - please let me know how you fare.
675329 tn?1297288378 boy o boy do I agree with VintageChicken. Your doctor sounds like a prescription nut!. Do you have a diagnosis? or is he just pulling the names of medicine out of his, ah, er, hat? I must say I've never heard of Gabapentin nor Zonegram. I'm sorry to say I have heard of Topamax-simply no place in Fibromyalgia treatment from every report I've heard, read, seen and made from personal experience. It cripples every mind that I've learned about.
