Avatar n tn Although there is no cure for fibromyalgia, home treatment can relieve some of the symptoms. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Have they checked you vit D level? Symptoms of vit D deficiency are: calf muscle & feet pain cramps in feet & legs muscle weakness waddling walk bone pain & weakness fatigue insomnia tingling in extremities diarrhea depression heart palpitations confusion/unorganized I know when the symptoms are flaring, I have to be careful NOT to push myself. Even when I've got a million things on my "to do" list. So the plan would be to exercise when your symptoms are not so bad.

This "syndrome" has made many days , months and years painful for me. I very seldom let it stop me coompletely because I have learned to generally work against the pain. I am now 7 7 years old, just lost my husband, and I am trying to find soe relief. Has anyone been given the treatments I mentioned above.
675329 tn?1297291978 I'm sorry to say I have heard of Topamax-simply no place in Fibromyalgia treatment from every report I've heard, read, seen and made from personal experience. It cripples every mind that I've learned about. And I can't believe you're on Serequel and Buspar and Wellbutrin. Frankly your doctor must see a serious mental annomally that he's treating. I'm not wanting to be offensive.

Avatar m tn Acupuncture, chiropractic care, and water aquatic therapy all help. I’ve purchased a hot tub with my RX for water therapy and wrote it off on my taxes. I can’t trll you how beneficial it is! Especially because I’m allergic to lots of medicines and I’m currently breastfeeding so I’m limited on what meds I can take anyway. As soon as I’m done nursing I’m going to get on Topomax. I also get Botox for my migraines and neck pain.
Avatar f tn The Rheumatologist referred me for Physical Therapy 2 x a week for 6 weeks. During each of my visits they have me lie on heat packs for 15 minutes. MS and heat do not get along but I really did fine for 15 minutes. One day, the PT Tech left me on the heat packs for almost an hour. The heat really affected my vision, balance, and I had horrible dizziness. My husband had to come pick me up from the PT office so he could take me home.
Avatar f tn It would include perhaps a consult to a chronic pain rehabilitation physician (to help with the immediate pain relief but also guiding you towards chronic pain relief), physical therapy and massage therapy, and, if needed, psychosocial rehabilitation. It is amazing what the multi-factorial approach will do for patients with chronic pain. I would suggest you discuss your symptoms with a rheumatologist.
444414 tn?1376579695 I had a situation a few years ago where I had a chiropractic adjustment at a physical therapy clinic after having had horrible back pain. After the adjustment, I suffered dizziness which is normal but it lasted over 24 hours and they referred me to a chiropractor that also practicies neurology.

209591 tn?1267418314 I have also been prescribed a TENS unit by Empi, Pool Therapy and complete Physical Therapy. I use the TENS unit religiously. It helps somewhat, not as much as I hoped. I have 8 different doctors, all of which seem to be on different pages, and completely lost as to what could be causing all my problems. However 3 of them are very insistent that I have the above mentioned health problems, but I also have an Autoimmune Disease.
Avatar n tn I have the same symptoms and had been chasing answers for 13 years. In addition to the Fibromyalgia diagnosis...I found out -finally- the my rhuemotologist missed and MRI from 2 years ago of my c-spine. I have Compressive Cervical Myelopathy and had spine surgery in early Dec.1. Anyone who has these symptoms ( the numbenss, tingling, shocklike sensations, needs to get MRI's done. She's in physical therapy (in a pool), some massage therapy, psychotherapy, psychiatric medication management, and has a general practitioner (NP actually, who is wonderful).
