Avatar n tn Yoga does wonders for my fibromyalgia pain!
Avatar f tn In the new study, 53 women with an average age of 54 who had been battling the condition for at least a decade were assigned to either a yoga program, or put on a waiting list for a yoga program. The course consisted of a weekly two-hour lesson, with participants given DVDs so they could practice at home. They were asked to do at least 20 minutes of yoga a day, five days a week, on their own. And it really helped. The researchers say 77.
Avatar f tn Hi,I'm a 37 year old female recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and I also have bulging discs in my neck and lower back. My pcp was prescribing me 120 10mg hydrocodone tablets/month for 14 months when she suddenly decided I needed to see pain management which I have currently been at for 3 months.
Dog Have you been tested for thyroid dysfunction? Fibromyalgia is a set of symptoms, for which there is no explanation, but they correlate with symptoms of hypothyroidism. You might ask to get some simple tests performed to make sure thyroid issues aren't causing some of your problem. Have you looked into yoga for exercise? There is a type of yoga for nearly everyone, even those wheelchair bound. The key, however, is to limit calories to less than you use, daily.

230948 tn?1235844329 I have heard of people having hip bursitis with your type of pain, or even pain from sciatica can cause hip pain, which I have, but typically, in order to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, you need to have pain in at least 11 of the 18 tender point identified by Rheumatologist for diagnostic purposes. Have you been seen by a Rheumatologist? They would be the doctor best fit to diagnose Fibromyalgia. I have posted a link here from our website (MedHelp) of the common symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2011, one of my worst symptoms was upper back pain, right in between my shoulder blades. Not even massages helped. In my experience, it was due to tension. I realized that my shoulders were often scrunched up. Even though it was hard to do at first because I was so tense, yoga helped immensely. Google 'yoga poses for back pain' and there's a lot of good videos that can help.

Avatar f tn Hi, I am wondering if fibromyalgia can be missed for years before being diagnosed? When I was a kid up until now I have always had muscle pain. Charlie horses, cramps, tingling in my feet & swelling. No doctor ever said anything to my parents or me. Now I'm 34 haven't been able to work for the last 4 wks due to muscle pain, cramps so bad I'm unable to walk, confusion so bad it interfered with my work, my immune system is basically null & void.

981885 tn?1248585122 I have had fibromyalgia for over 40 years, even when most people did not even know about it. It is not as well know as Arthiritis or Osteoarthritis. The procedure normally followed is that you go to see your family doctor who will give a reference to a rheumatologist. I live in Quebec and let me tell you there are few and in between. Possibly in Ontario they may be more. They are aware of this syndrome. They call it a syndome because it is not recognized by the goverment as a disease.
564491 tn?1320360393 Please relate the treatment you are on, and if it has been effective for your headaches/migraines. I have had chronic headaches for years, but for the past year, I have them 24/7, with eye pain (particularly the right eye, and lots of neck pain). I also have Fibromyalgia, and other medical conditions. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn Several years ago, I was diagnoised with Fibromyalgia and this year had a case of shingles. Since then I have had severe pain in my joints, extreme fatigue.and tingling in my fingers.I constanly feel off balance and drop things, at times I feel like I am draging my legs. I am doing yoga, stretching excerises and masages, this helps the pain. The fatigue is almost unbearable. I am not sleeping but about 4 hours.
675329 tn?1297288378 You should have various physical therapies prescribed for you like heat, massage, gentle exercise. Meditative and stretching treatments are helpful like yoga and tai quan do (sp?) For your state of mind nothing is ususally better than regular visits with a trained psychologist or psychaitrist who specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Then there's the use of carefully selected vitamins and supplements, diet and regular, gentle exercise.
723959 tn?1314744225 Dusty brought up a great point. I use to have private pilates, yoga classes and I had to stop everything. For years I would say I couldn't exercise. I even stopped massage therapy. It was all stressing my muscles and I would get one flare up after another. Seven months ago and 205 pounds after 5 surgeries on my back/neck I had enough. I though I'm exercising if it kills me. I had to take that weight off. I started on the bike at the gym. It started low back pain, my low back is fused.
1290770 tn?1272075535 The suicide risk is typically higher for teenagers who take the antidepressants. As for continuing the yoga, go for it. Moderate exercise is beneficial for fibromyalgia. Just because you can't see fibromyalgia or anxiety or depression does NOT mean it's all in your head. Sometimes family members or friends, sometimes even professionals don't understand.

Avatar f tn Hello, I am sorry you are going through withdrawal symptoms. Many medications for Fibromyalgia, if not tapered properly will cause withdrawal symptoms if stopped abruptly. I would call your doctor immediately and report these symptoms as soon as possible. Have you called your doctor to report your symptoms as of yet?
Avatar f tn Once I addressed the underlying problem that caused my Ptsd, I stopped using medical mj and started doing yoga and practicing mindfulness meditation. I got out of a very painful fibromyalgia period with the things I mentioned above, and have not had an episode in over a year. Like I said before, I stopped using med. mj but then started again for my back pain thinking I might have another episode about 10 months ago. When it never came, I stopped again.

1166402 tn?1303847056 I have been on Remeron and Celexa for a couple of months now for my anixety (no panic attacks). I still have leg, hip and low back tighness. Now I'm getting some twitching and twinges (split second cramps). I've been stretching my muscles in Yoga and got a deep tissue massage. She said my back muscle were tight and could be causing them to press on my sciatic nerve which might explain the leg soreness. But then my leg (posterior) are tight and sore deep inside.
