Avatar n tn My doc says that I have fibromyalgia and not to worry. But I have so many lumps throughout my body I do worry. I first noticed a few tender lumps on my right rib after having an ultrasound 9 months ago. (I thought the tech was rough but over time the pain gets better then comes back.) I have many more squishy tender lumps now.(I did notice that in both of my thighs they also had small bumps but now its more like a hard, tender rope.

Avatar n tn Hello, Without examination confirming a diagnosis is very tough but the various possibilities for your symptoms are lung pathologies like Pulmonary Edema, Bronchopneumonia or Bronchiectasis costochondritis (an inflammation of the joints in your chest) , Tietze syndrome(painful localized swelling of the costosternal esp in the area of the second and third ribs) and fibromyalgia( presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia(pain even on touching).

428021 tn?1203672750 At 1st I kept thinking there was something wrong with my mattress and eventually flipped it. Then the pain got worse and I grabbed my ribs and realized it was my body and not the bed (I know... a little slow on that one). Now it has gotten so painful that I can't sleep in any position but on my back. I have a little swelling too, but mostly just pain nearly everywhere I touch on my right rib area.

Avatar f tn I have suffered from fibromyalgia for over 15 years. I have never before had any type of surgery or general anesthesia. Unfortunately, I am continuing to experience constant, aching, debilitating pain in my right rib cage post-op. My doctors say that the pain will "go away", and is to be expected. But, I begin to wonder if it is true. For those of you who have had a similar procedure, how does fibromyalgia complicate the recovery process?
Avatar f tn It could also be costochondritis, which causes pain and tenderness at points where your ribs attach to your breastbone. The inflammation around the joint area gives sharp pain on taking a breath. This can also cause tenderness on pressing the area which pains. An orthopedic doctor can diagnose this for you. Generally there is no cause. However it can be due to infection, blow, injury, or fibromyalgia. It usually goes away on its own.
Avatar m tn I have had similar symptoms, but not from the fibro.....more from the degerative arthritis and herniated discs. Fibro for me is more an allover achiness, constant tiredness, PAIN, and feeling as if I constantly have a severe case of flu or mononucliosis. Pain in fibro is amplified as nerves are extra sensitive. I also get alot of viruses very easily.
Avatar m tn - some lightheadedness and headaches (non-severe) - Pain under ribs, usually one side, but happened on both left and right. Did not feel like a hug or band, rather a runners stitch. Lasts couple of minutes and leaves but happens 2-3 times a day. - some pain under my arms right in the pit!. - dry mouth. - cold toes. - occasional upper eyelid twitch. - intermittent chest pain (likely my GERD and stress?
996946 tn?1503252712 He and I got into a bit of a heated discussion about how to differentiate arthritis pain from fibro-m pain, and in the end, he said that whatever one calls it, pain is pain, and that in his practice, he's seen symptoms of osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia (I have both) overlap. He and I have a long-standing professional relationship and have developed a good rapport over the years - I don't think he was being "smart" or dismissive when he told me that.
Avatar m tn I am so weak right now I can barely type this. Here is a list of my symptoms fatigue/weakness chronic pain- ALWAYS feels like I have overworked my muscles even when I have done nothing. Avatar f tn This is my first post and I am grateful to have a place to go and be heard by those who can relate. In 4/09 I started having some very intense, painful symptoms which have landed me in the hospital on several occasions. To date have had blood, MRI, ultrasounds, CT scans, etc. My Brain MRI indicated scattered nonspecific white matter lesions in the frontal lobe. My Neurologist initially said it cannot be MS because those lesions show in a very specific area of the brain.
Avatar f tn Yes, chest pain is another one of symptoms of Fibromyalgia. It's mostly in the pectoral area. There are several trigger points tests doctors use to see if you have Fibromyalgia. Mine started inside my knees. Keep in mind that "Fibro" pain is bilateral which means that it occurs on both sides of the body. I have all of the "trigger points" like, both sides of my neck, back of shoulders, thighs, inside of my knee and tenderness in my upper arms.

1442701 tn?1286387587 I know of no neurological condition that would preclude you from having Fibromyalgia and I can't think of anything in Fibromyalgia that would preclude you from having a neurological condition. Changes in speech make me think like a zombie: BRAINs If you have trigger point activation in the known Fibro trigger points, I'd think Fibro. If you have both, think comorbidity. Easy. But then again, I didn't go to Med School.
Avatar f tn Now that I have been researching I think it's possible that I have fibromyalgia. I have pain all the time in all different spots. I feel like I'm 90. I have horrible stomach and digestion problems. Once I eat anything at all I am completely bloated for the rest of the day and it's soo uncomfortable! I have frequent migraines. I never get deep sleep, I wake up constantly and I am SO tired. I feel very stressed and irritable.
Avatar f tn Can't say that your case is unique, as two thirds (2/3rds) of patients on gabapentin will experience adverse effects. There may be some changes in your symptoms, better or worse, more or less, if you wish to stick with it. You may also want to look into Picamilon , made by combining a GABA derivative and Niacin which is sold as an OTC dietary supplement in the U.S.A. Not sure where you live.
Avatar n tn I have a problem when I do a deep bend, sit up or turn a certain way I have something in my stomach & around my ribs that sort of pops up and moves around it is kind of like someone sticking there fist in my stomach and moving it around. It ususally only last a few minutes but can be dibilitating when it happens, depending on what area it pops up it can cause me not to be able to take a breath. I have had several surgeries on my stomach such as gallbladder, hysterctomy & c-sections.
Avatar n tn Right now I have to lay ontop of pillows because the mattress hurts my ribs. The soreness seems to radiate everywhere my ribs are. From my front ribs, underneath my collar bone, both sides and both sides of my upper and midback area. I was previously told it was costocondritis as well but all the research that I saw on that said that it should of resolved itself within a few months, at most a year..and I still have it. Anti-inflammatory medications dont work and neither do pain medications.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I have hundreds of lumps in the fat on my body. They are extremely painful and in all parts of my body. I started having them on my rib cage forty years ago and they have now spread over my whole body. They are in strands near my joints and the slightest pressure hurts. I need to know if other people who have fibromyalgia have these lumps. My rheumatologist says he has never seen a case of Dercum's and did not want to hear about it.
Avatar n tn has anyone noticed any swelling type condition around the area around the lower left ribs? I have a lot of the same symptoms as people have noted but I have also noticed that the area around the left lower ribs is larger than the right side. I don't know when this first happened.....I know for at least a couple of months now. But I may have had this for years. I just never really noticed.
