Common Questions and Answers about Fibromyalgia symptoms inflammation

fibromyalgia

Avatar m tn I have recurrent eye inflammation which my doctors say is caused from a systematic disease. All major diseases have been eliminated I do have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, trigimenal neuralgia. What can cause these outbreaks of eye inflammation? Thank u for your time.
Avatar n tn An elevated sed rate can indicate vasculits (inflammation of blood vessels). An elevated cpk can indicate myositis (inflammation of muscles). I would get another opinion. Fibromyalgia basically means fiber and muscle pain. It's not really a disease. It's a group of symptoms. There are is no actual inflammation or abnormalitis in in true fibro. So lab work would not be abnormal. People can have secondary FMS from other disorders.
Avatar f tn Fibro would not respond to prednisone as it is an antinflammatory and there is no inflammation in true fibro. There are overlapping symptoms like dry eyes etc.. between the two conditions. The best site I have found regarding fibro is fibromyalgia-symptoms.org if you would like to learn more about it. I am not a doctor. I have done lots of reading trying to figure out what I have though.
Monster The descriptions of fibromyalgia symptoms read to me like a newspaper horoscope: the number of symptoms described can apply to just about any ambulatory human being. The typical medications indicated seem to antidepressants and pain relievers. Please give us the Clif's Notes version of fibromyalgia and if diagnosed, what are the treatments.
Avatar f tn I still have all the pain and its so new to me. Can anyone tell me if this is Fibromyalgia. Does this come on slowly???? or can suddenly occur. PLEASE!
574423 tn?1258658571 Inflammation is not common with Fibromyalgia, but joint inflammation is common with other Rheumatic diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis or Lupus. Do you know if your Rheumatologist tested your SED rate, your C-reactive protein, your Rheumatoid Factor or performed an ANA screen on you? If so do you know the results of these tests?
Avatar n tn I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I've tried all of the meds they are currently prescribing for this. Has anyone tried alternative treatment for this? If so, did it work for you?
Avatar f tn The ESR blood test is used when a patient presents with symptoms that suggest inflammation somewhere in the body. The normal range for a woman, under the age of 50 years, is; less than 20mm per hour. Yours is 43mm per hour, which suggests that there is inflammation in your body. A dr would use these results to move forward in the direction that there is raised inflammation, and will do further tests to narrow the search down. I hope this answered your question. Cath278.
Avatar f tn hi i have had muscle aches and pains, fatigue, joint pain, sensitivity to temperature changes, like if its 70 or below outside i will get chills and run a low grade fever, i have been tested for lupus, RA all negative except for An inflammation marker which came back extremley high, by this time all the symptoms were much worse, and my doctor tested me for basically lyme disease, which came back high but not affirmative, I was treated and felt better for a while, but now if im in the sun all da
Avatar n tn Since you have pain on left side, it can be due to acidity, gastric reflux, hiatal hernia, pleuritis (inflammation of covering of lung) or pericarditis (inflammation of covering of heart). IBS, Crohn’s, chronic constipation, spleen problems like bleeding, cyst, abscess etc can also cause pain under left ribs. Hence discuss all these possibilities with your doctor. Take care!
494623 tn?1278279352 RA is a disease which can cause many symptoms. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome (a group of symptoms) not a disease. So a fibro diagnosis just tells you that you have a group of symptoms but you still don't have a cause. Also you should have 11 of the 18 fibro tender points if you have FMS. Were you checked for these? If it were me I would consider a second opinion. Lab work and tests are usually normal in true FMS.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you may have fibro secondary to an autoimmune disorder. If the ANA is elevated then there is inflammation. There is no actual inflammation in true fibro. All lab testing comes back normal.
Avatar f tn t seem to be related to a certain food, as I can eat a meal one day without symptoms, and eat the leftovers the next day with symptoms. The symptoms are more present during dinner. Stress brings on the widespread pain as well. I also experience some IBS, fatigue, and bouts of insomnia. This all started 8 months ago, with a bad reaction to an antiobiotic, and then a very stressful few months. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and some IBS.
Avatar n tn I can only turn my head to the left so far and I am getting pain and it goes up behind my ear and into my head could this be coming from my fibromyalgia? I have never had it there before. Mostly elbows and knees and shoulder sometimes.
368646 tn?1208393887 Is it possible that I could have lupus or fibromyalgia (or any other inflammatory disease)causing the hemagioma to burst ? Does inflammation have to subside before healing can begin? Thank you for your time and attention!
Avatar f tn My sed rate is also high but RA and Lupus test came back negative. Doew this sound like arthritus or fibromyalgia? Any comments would be greatly appreciated This discussion is related to fibromyalgia with inflamation.
Avatar f tn Is there an effective way to treat acne for those with fibromyalgia? My dermatologists have tried quite the variety of treatments for the acne with no success. The acne isn't cystic, but a bit more problematic than mild acne. Also, a sulfa allergy limits that option for treatment. Current regimen includes Azelex (for redness and inflammation) and Tretinoin. I'm curious if there is an effective treatment that takes the fibromyalgia into consideration.
1291214 tn?1277058191 So I'm 17, and I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 2 1/2 years ago. But ever since last year, I've been experiencing shooting pains in my joints, mainly in my fingers/hands, right arm, knees, and shoulders. I get pain in my back and thighs too. And ever since this year, I've been getting swelling in the fingers or my right arm, mainly the pointer and index finger.
Avatar f tn Does anyone who has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia know of the best medication to take to help relieve the discomfort associated with this disease?
554442 tn?1221235225 Fibromyalgia (FMS or Fibro for short) is a chronic condition which causes widespread pain and fatigue as well as a variety of other symptoms. The name Fibromyalgia comes from "fibro" meaning fibrous tissues (such as tendons and ligaments), "my" meaning muscles, and "algia" meaning pain. Fibro does not cause joint pain or swelling. The pain from Fibromyalgia is produced in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles and tendons. http://www.mayoclinic.
929287 tn?1244319023 If you do have arthritis, you will have to be careful that you are not developing a lot of inflammation in your body. Inflammation can also be in your arteries, which would create a sticky spot for cholesterol to start building and eventually lead to blocked arteries. You need to control the inflammation in your body. Make sure that you are taking care of yourself now to prevent serious heart disease in the future. Take care.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with R/A 4 years ago now, my blood work has never really shown any significant inflammation. I have h ad a full body bone scan which showed no inflammation. I have had a few steroid injections over the years and they normally help some. This last one made no difference to my pain what so ever. I just suffer terrible pain on a daily basis and take pain killers, I am on 20mg of methotrexate, all other dmd didnt agree with me. I have muscle pain too.

Avatar m tn Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 8 years ago. Have all the yucky stuff that goes along with it, but I try not to let it ruin my day, I just go with it when it's bad, and when I have good days I feel blessed. A year ago I developed a rash, similar to teenage zits under the right nostril, traveling down around the corner of my mouth and chin. My rash felt prickly hot and raw. Nothing I used helped, and it just got worse.
1280306 tn?1271267786 the pressure build-up is most likely coming from stenosis along with some inflammation. After long periods of inflammation, the joints begin to break down, thus causing a loss of cushion known as cartiledge disc between these vertebrae. The popping your hearing is just that. Osteoarthritis induced hypermobility. This can also happen when one with active osteoarthritis seeks chiropractic adjustments over several periods of time.
