We want to know what to do about our 6 year old daughters fear of the dark. She has been afraid of the dark for a long time but it has gotten worse lately. We just moved to a new home. She has her own room but it is a jack and jill meaning that there is a bathroom and closet between her room and her twin brothers room.
t terribly worried about monsters in the closets, but some folks get a sort of claustraphobia in the dark, almost a sense of disorientation, which the night light should help with. If this turns into a real problem where this persons sleep was being disturbed because of this fear, then I would suggest some time with a therapist to get to the root of the problem.

Nyctophobia is any fear of darkness and it does not have to be chronic. It is usually caused by a magnification of the brain's natural perception of what could happen in a dark environment.
hi alana, dont be afraid love its a normal reaction when you loose someone you love, things will get better your only young, my advice to you is to talk about the fear you have your not alone, I lost my mum many many years ago now I was only 3 when she died and I also had the fear of the dark it has got better I am only fearful now if i am on my own then I just leave a light on. speak to someone you trust but please dont be afraid.

Thankyou for your comment....... He isn't afflicted all the time with the spirit thing.... He's just afraid of the dark. He and I go to church and he is very involved . Native American Indians have rituals... Like sage and prayers.... We also believe in God... Rest assured nothing will harm us in our home... Bad guys or spirits... My son feels safe at home...... It's just the dark that brings his anxiety and the thought of sleeping alone...... During the day no problem......
You are both suffering from a very common phobia. Fear of the dark goes back to the dawn of man and since that time, millions of people have fought it all there lives.
Please do not berate yourselves for this phobia or think you are silly for being afraid of the dark at your age.
Our phobias are ours to own and suffer with as long as we do nothing about them.
Since both of you have stated that your phobia is now interfering with your lives, it's time to take the bull by the horns!
Time does it very often something triggers it in the begining but many children are afraid of the dark, best to let them have a hall light on ,with the bedroom door open,I dont think it is something that you can help them get over, as they get older it dissipates , I was a child like this , Trauma triggered it and it contiunued through my childhood, but it went once I became a teen,I still like the bedroom door open but I am not afraid of the dark...
Hi I am a design student whom is looking at children’s fear of the dark my case study is my little cousin who is 6 years old, she is suffering from Nyctophobia which is a phobia related to being afraid of the dark, I wanted to know if anyone else knows someone with the same phobia or has suffered from it themselves and what they have done to help get over it? I want to know this from the child’s parents view or if an adult has suffered it themselves, from their view to.
The reason for my ongoing anxiety is the fact I have been suffering from an upset tongue since mid dec (dark red, sore looking down the middle with dry fuzzy feeling) which has since turned to oral thrush (I have white patches on/down the middle of the surface of the tongue with the dry fuzzy feeling) in the last 2months or so.
I received oral sex 35 days ago from the guy . I did a test for HIV at 28 days test 4th generation test Architect combo Ag/Ab and std( Not Herpes, HPV) all the results came back negative. But i'm afraid of Herpes and HIV, the guy looked fine with no lesion or cold sores around the mouth, and he claimed he is clean, but you never know how true is that? I had done another HIV test at 5 weeks, planning to do some others combo/ DUO at 45 days, and two months.
i know this is strange but still worry as the needle mark and dark blue color was visible and this part of my leg was below the bed level so that any person under the cot (normally indian cots have empty space between the bed and floor where one person can hide).i strongly suspect some one injected me after applying some local anasthesia.

i am 8 months pregnant with my first child--i'm 29. i've had a small (slightly smaller than a sesame seed), very dark mole on the very bottom of my right breast for years--can't remember if it's been there my whole life or not. it's grown during pregnancy, which i realize isn't abnormal as my breast has grown--although it's almost underneath my breast as opposed to ON it.
