Common Questions and Answers about Fear of needles iv

fear

Avatar m tn s only transmitted from having unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing IV drug needles. She uses a condom usually as most sex workers do to protect themselves. You had condom sex, that is not a risk. However, a condom breaking is. So, you will need to test. She sounds like a known person to you and doesn't have any reason to lie. And you know her husband? I'd test with a 4th generation DUO at 28 days to be sure and as anxious says, stay busy until that time to ward off anxiety.
Avatar f tn The only ways adults get HIV is to have unprotected vaginal or anal sex or sharing IV drug needles. Again, IV drug needles are different than blood draws. That you had a blood draw, then an HIV test because of fear of the blood draw and then renewed needle fear from the hiv test? Sounds like classic anxiety. I'd work on the anxiety. Have you posted about this on the site before now?
Avatar f tn , cups, paper, sticks, trash, etc, but I have fear of it being a needle. The funny thing is, most of the time, I never review the photos; I guess just knowing I have them brings me relief. Before, I was even using a picker to pick things up off the ground, which I would store in the trunk of my car; however, I've pretty much gotten past that. It has come to the point that my condition is impacting my relationship.
Avatar n tn i know i gotta suck it up but its my biggest fear ... has anyone else had this problem? does the iv and epideral hurt? PLeaseeee be honest !
Avatar f tn Someone whose had one please explain what they do and how they put the needle in and where , my biggest dear is needles and I've heard it's the worse part of labor I think out of the whole thing that's the most terrifying lol anyone ?
Avatar m tn To remind you of the risks of HIV, they are (and ONLY are) having unprotected (without condom) vaginal sex, unprotected anal sex and sharing IV injectable needles. That is it. Air exposure means that touching your anus with anything, his finger his penis, etc. will not transmit the virus. Air inactivates the virus. What you describe is of zero risk.
Avatar f tn t want it simply because of the fear I have of needles. Is there any pain medicine that they put just in your IV? Obviously I don't want to harm my baby, but my OBGYN do a very good job of letting me know the alternatives to epidural. Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn So, the only documented and proven cases of transmission involved unprotected vaginal or anal or sharing IV needles. You did not have a risk at all and can move on without fear.
20894477 tn?1582547965 ve posted is a risk for HIV. In an adult, only unprotected anal or vaginal sex and sharing IV drug needles with infected users are a risk for HIV. You used a condom and the other things are not risks. No risk means you were not exposed to HIV. That also means that whatever problems you're having are not related to HIV.
Avatar f tn Iv had this crippling fear of hiv and it involves around needles and being pricked by one. Last year my fear was so out of control I feel into a deep pit of depression as I convinced myself I'd been struck by a needle on different occasions. This year has been quite good as I started taking medication which pulled me out of this rut and made my thoughts more rational. But since last week iv had another episode. This is going to sound nuts but this is the stuff that goes through my head.
Avatar f tn I myself have a fear of needles, this is my second pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The only risks for HIV are to have unprotected vaginal or anal sex or to share IV drug needles. Those are the ONLY risks as saliva and air inactivate the virus. This is the agreed upon stance by HIV experts and there is not a single proven, documented case of someone getting HIV from oral sex It doesn't happen and won't happen to you.
Avatar m tn There has never been anyone contract HIV from a tattoo. Tattoo needles are solid needles.
Avatar m tn It seems like you have a great fear of HIV, and maybe you want to talk to a therapist about those fears. As an adult, the only risks for HIV are: 1) having unprotected, penetrative vaginal or anal sex, or 2) sharing IV drug needles with other IV drug users. If you don't do either of those activities, you will NEVER have to worry about HIV. Fingering has never been a risk, even with cuts, scrapes, torn cuticles, etc.
Avatar f tn One last question, by sharing needles, what u meant is only IV needle with a barrel or any kind of needles such like sewing needles?? I know I seem to hav OCD and I sometime worries about being pricked by people with sewing needle with infected blood on. I promise this will be my last question and thank u guys so much for your patience!!
Avatar f tn Ever since a dentist appt like 5+ years ago I shake uncontrollably when getting ivs and such as a coping thing or something. I've had my blood drawn 7 times and 2 shots in this pregnancy, my fear of needles is basically gone now. The best way I handle it is not looking and wiggling my fingers on the opposite hand and concentrate on that, make sure to breathe. Just think it will be over before you know it.
Avatar f tn I can’t seem to rest about these encounters, I always have a fear in the back of my mind that I could have hiv from one of my encounters if I had a sore or something in my mouth or small gum injury.
Avatar n tn I know hiv is rare but I have 4 friends acquired hiv and one of them pass away last year, that is the cause of my unreal fear and I hope you understand Vance.
Avatar f tn IV syringes are not needles sticks and that is different and this is why sharing IV drug needles is different than simply getting poked. And the tattoo is on top of the skin. So, there is no risk for HIV from getting a tattoo. Worse case scenario if they did not clean the equipment, air would inactivate anything on those needles.

Avatar f tn I had mine n my arm because they couldn't find a vain n my hand it was kinda inconvenient because I couldn't bend my arm basically the whole hospital stay I was still getting meds..
Avatar f tn ( I have a bit of a fear of needles. She prepared the needle, syringe and b12 in another room and then came into the room where I was lying down. Normally I would watch and check to make sure needle and syringe are new but in this situation I couldn't. I am making an assumption that even if the syringe and needle were not new the risk would be non existent as the injection was into a muscle and bit a vein.
