587083 tn?1327120262 Since menopause,I have consumed some natural product containing some kind of estrogen to control the night sweating, hot flashes.I drank milk made of soy,ate soy beans and tofu. Could this be the cause that my mammogram was abnormal?I have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound at the end of this month. am very worried and don't know what to think anymore.Maybe the natural things I ate, containing estrogen is the cause that I might have cancer?
8112046 tn?1396620403 I used to consume soy milk daily. Upon ttc, & in my first trimester, regular cow milk seemed suddenly tolerable to me. Now that I'm 15 weeks I find that cow milk causes me to vomit. So I switched back to soy today with (so far) no problems. Do any of you ladies drink soy milk too? Or do you prefer almond milk?
Avatar m tn re already dealing with thryoid issues, as the estrogen levels are still affected by the thryoid and vice versa, whether male or female. It is estrogen in particular that soy affects in a huge way. Dr. Mercola explains more thoroughly and better than I can even begin to repeat why the traditionally fermented soy products are the only soy products that are even safe to consume.
Avatar f tn But, I ate soy meat and drank soy milk. These raise you estrogen. Also I drank bottled water in plastic. WEll laying off of these helped some , got hormone free reg milk and cut down on soy meats but it took taking Indole-3 carbinol 400 mg. a day to work. Everytime I try to quit taking this migraines return. So I know it its working. Now maybe 1 day of my period or rarely two I will have a migraine and sometimes not at all. If I do have them now they are less severe.
1310814 tn?1310654901 m so confused.. What is considered processed soy and what is natural soy? Is milk made from soy processed? Is the soy BEAN the only form of natural soy?
Avatar n tn No, you don't. But giving up all dairy products is just smart. All dairy cows produce a lot of estrogen just to produce milk. Forget the fact that they are given de-wormers, antibiotics, growth hormones and such. And animal estrogen isn't a good thing. Then there comes the debate about phytoestrogens in plants. Soy for instance .... so many studies and so many different answers! Keep everything in moderation and you will do well. I actually take a drug called neurontin for hot flashes.
Avatar m tn If it were me, I would not use soy formula.I've read a lot about soy too and heard that it can effect the thyroid gland and it can increase estrogen levels. Talk to his Pediatrician about what kind of formula your baby can take.
Avatar f tn I have also read soy has phytoestrogen (estrogenic activity) so it will add to the already elevated levels of estrogen in the body of a PCOS sufferer, so it should be avoided. On the contrary some articles say that soy is good as it has estrogenic activity and would block the excess estrogen receptors in PCOS). Please advice. 2. Can I consume milk and egg white?
Avatar n tn Are there any natural products I can use to help any of these symptoms? Will soy milk be of any help or am I putting myself at risk of breast cancer. This discussion is related to Soy and ovarian cancer.
Avatar m tn After struggling with on and off constipation I had put her on soy milk at the age of 4. Now, about 4 months later since I put her on soy milk I learned of the high estrogen content. I am concerned about this and wish to remove her from soy and try almond milk (she has no tree nut allergies). My concern is almond milk has very little protein. What should I give her to provide her with enough protein that cow's milk has? Do I give her protein pills?
Avatar f tn Fermented soy, like tempeh, natto, and miso are actually healthy. But the soy found in tofu, soy hot dogs, soy flour and all the other soy products out there, is NOT fermented. If your body can't get the vital trace minerals it needs to function, it starts to suffer. For example, zinc is necessary for the brain and blood sugar control. Depleted amounts can lead to mental problems, and hyperglycemia.
Avatar n tn Yeah, I think a vegan/vegetarian might have a harder time with conception, but mostly because they don't get protein from meat. There are many women who are lactose intolerant and drink soy milk on a daily basis- and I don't think they're all infertile or have a harder time conceiving. I wouldn't worry about it! I love me some chocolate soy milk or iced soy lattes and I've been pregnant 5 times. There was a time when I drank soy milk a ton, as a teenager, because I loved it.
Avatar f tn m 27 years old i have removed a large fibroadenoma 3 years ago and i want to know if soy milk and other soy products have any negative effect on the recurring of Fibroadenomas, or if it'll cause later any cancerous masses, what diets should i follow to protect myself from Fibroadenomas & breast cancer?
Avatar f tn Almond milk from Blue Diamond is delicious and priced like soy milk. Almond milk and rice milk still have some soy in the ingredients but not as a main ingredient. To answer your question , anything but water can interfere with stomach absorption of meds. Anything but water is digested, water alone is just absorbed. Traces of sugar, proteins ect are digested. Will you notice depends on how much. Ritual coffee drinkers, will constantly slightly effect absorption.
Avatar m tn soy milk (for protein), soy yogurt, soy butter, soy based protein bars, soy based cereal, etc. Well, she had been off of soy for a few weeks, and she got down to 93 pounds. Well, just recently started taking her vitamins that her doctor suggested due to abnornal blood work. Last week is when she lost the weight, and this past week, she has gained 6 pounds. Low and behold, the CoQ10 has soy in it! She also has very coarse hair and acne on her forehead which she never had before.
Avatar f tn Common Western foods and beverages are fermented, such as The soy used in our country, however, is primarily non-fermented soy in the form of soy-protein isolate and soy milk. It is the non-fermented form of soy that is causing so many of the problems with soy foods. The soy industry would have you believe that Asians eat lots of soy. Since Asians suffer less chronic illness than most Western people, then soy must be a healthy food. How much soy do Asians actually eat?
Avatar f tn I am not a total expert, but I have recently learned that my habit of eating lots of soy products (soy milk, soy meat, etc) mimics estrogen in the body. I also found out that certain chemicals in soft plastic water bottles (which I had drank out of every day for a year at work) 'leak' into the water and also 'mimic' estrogen. Even stress hormones can lead to further imbalances.
Avatar f tn I hope to see more answers. I was told to avoid soy products, specifically tofu, edemame, soy milk, soy sauce is OK in the small amounts usually used. This was a blow to me because I love tofu and made soy milk chai every morning. The other item I avoid is flax seed because it's high in lignans and the phytoestrogens are there as well. It's great for the heart but now I avoid that as well. I'm on Arimidex as a postmenopausal woman.
Avatar m tn Kinda new to this PVC - Bigeminy "fun". Trip to the ER, wore a heart rate monitor for 2 months, visit with a cardologist. Pretty much was told what you all are saying...nothing to worry about. But they sure can last for hours and make me feel terrible. This past month I did pretty good. Very few. Feeling better, I went back to my routine where I have a soymilk protein shake for breakfast. 3 days into it, my bigeminy returned.
Avatar f tn At some point, a pharmacist told me to stop eating soy. It was in everything... food, shampoo, lotion, make up, soy milk. Ha ha. Soy converts into estrogen in your body, which fees endometriosis. It has made my periods much less severe. I have now stopped all gluten as well and that has also helped tremendously. I'm not going to lie, it's a pain in the butt, but it's worth it to feel so much better.
Avatar f tn Soy is in every processed food we eat. Just way to much in soy milk. Say no to soy milk. Your immune system will thank you.
Avatar f tn I am taking vitamin D, and drink soy milk 2-3 times a week, eat some edamame soy beans 2 times a week to boost a little estrogen in womb. Got flu shot....don't know if it will help odds...It really is in God's hands and I will live the gift god gives us no matterwhat!
Avatar f tn You can definitely be allergic to the soy milk. Also, soy is one of the prime suspects in the food elimination diet that must be avoided while on the diet 'til ready to challenge. You can develop new or different allergies at any time. I myself am allergic to yogurt and kefir. I discovered why it's worse for me than the tiny bit of regular milk used in my coffee (I'm sensitive to soy myself), too. And, it isn't the beneficial bacteria added to the stuff either.
Avatar f tn follow-up, women in the highest quartile of soy consumption (for example, tofu, soy milk, or fresh soy beans) showed lower hazard ratios for total mortality (0.71) and recurrence (0.68), relative to those in the lowest quartile. The effect was noted in both estrogen-receptor–positive and –negative tumors, and with early- and late-stage cancers.
