587083 tn?1327120262 Since menopause,I have consumed some natural product containing some kind of estrogen to control the night sweating, hot flashes.I drank milk made of soy,ate soy beans and tofu. Could this be the cause that my mammogram was abnormal?I have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound at the end of this month. am very worried and don't know what to think anymore.Maybe the natural things I ate, containing estrogen is the cause that I might have cancer?
Avatar f tn I dont drink regular milk AT ALL. But I do drink Almond, soy and coconut milk. Is that ok??
Avatar n tn I have not studied the estrogen levels of cows and transmission of bovine estrogen through milk. However, I was raised on a dairy farm and can tell you that every time cows were treated with any drug, their milk was dumped for days after the treatment until the vet said that the drug had cleared her system and was no longer present. Milk is tested by the milk hauler for bacteria levels and drug residues. If antibiotics are present your whole tank of milk would be unsaleable.
Avatar m tn I have Hashimoto and get no bad taste from almond milk. You can have anything for 1/2 hour after thyroid meds. Nothing but water.
Avatar f tn But, I ate soy meat and drank soy milk. These raise you estrogen. Also I drank bottled water in plastic. WEll laying off of these helped some , got hormone free reg milk and cut down on soy meats but it took taking Indole-3 carbinol 400 mg. a day to work. Everytime I try to quit taking this migraines return. So I know it its working. Now maybe 1 day of my period or rarely two I will have a migraine and sometimes not at all. If I do have them now they are less severe.
Avatar f tn m 27 years old i have removed a large fibroadenoma 3 years ago and i want to know if soy milk and other soy products have any negative effect on the recurring of Fibroadenomas, or if it'll cause later any cancerous masses, what diets should i follow to protect myself from Fibroadenomas & breast cancer?
Avatar f tn Fermented soy, like tempeh, natto, and miso are actually healthy. But the soy found in tofu, soy hot dogs, soy flour and all the other soy products out there, is NOT fermented. If your body can't get the vital trace minerals it needs to function, it starts to suffer. For example, zinc is necessary for the brain and blood sugar control. Depleted amounts can lead to mental problems, and hyperglycemia.
1310814 tn?1310654901 m so confused.. What is considered processed soy and what is natural soy? Is milk made from soy processed? Is the soy BEAN the only form of natural soy?
Avatar m tn ve read a lot about soy too and heard that it can effect the thyroid gland and it can increase estrogen levels. Talk to his Pediatrician about what kind of formula your baby can take.
Avatar f tn Can I consume milk and egg white? I love milk but recently I came to know that now a days hen, cows and buffaloes are being injected with hormones and consuming their milk will worsen the condition of hormonal imbalance in PCOS. Moreover milk is acidic and has a ph below 7 and hence not good for PCOS. However, if I leave milk I'm afradi that being a vegetarian I might miss on certain essential nutrients. Please suggest. 3. Can I consume fruits with high sugar content?
Avatar n tn I used folic acid and black cohosh for my symptoms. I really only had hot flashes and night sweats and using folic acid and black cohosh seemed to lessen the frequency and severity for me. This combination doesn't work for everybody. Check with your doctor before taking these supplements because they can intefer with some prescription medicines...especially for thyroid problems.
Avatar m tn Now, about 4 months later since I put her on soy milk I learned of the high estrogen content. I am concerned about this and wish to remove her from soy and try almond milk (she has no tree nut allergies). My concern is almond milk has very little protein. What should I give her to provide her with enough protein that cow's milk has? Do I give her protein pills? Are there any side effects of almond milk?
Avatar n tn Yeah, I think a vegan/vegetarian might have a harder time with conception, but mostly because they don't get protein from meat. There are many women who are lactose intolerant and drink soy milk on a daily basis- and I don't think they're all infertile or have a harder time conceiving. I wouldn't worry about it! I love me some chocolate soy milk or iced soy lattes and I've been pregnant 5 times. There was a time when I drank soy milk a ton, as a teenager, because I loved it.
Avatar m tn Hello. I just recently started taking Synthroid. I am a little concerned about something and I hope someone here can help me out :) I am a vegan (no meats, dairy, eggs). I do eat (in moderation) soy products, mostly tempeh (fermented soy), tofu and maybe some soy milk in my coffee. I've heard from several people that I will have to cut out all soy products because it interferes with the medication and is a huge contributing factor to my hypo. Is this true?
Avatar f tn follow-up, women in the highest quartile of soy consumption (for example, tofu, soy milk, or fresh soy beans) showed lower hazard ratios for total mortality (0.71) and recurrence (0.68), relative to those in the lowest quartile. The effect was noted in both estrogen-receptor–positive and –negative tumors, and with early- and late-stage cancers.
Avatar f tn This is seriously depressing news. Especially since many of us have had this condition for decades and yet did not find out about it till middle age. If we'd known earlier this would not have been an issue. I'm in the post tx wait to see if the tx worked. I'm pinning my hopes on the fact that I had a glass of soy milk every morning with the riba. Soy mimics estrogen so maybe I'll get lucky. I fit every one of the indications for relapse except genotype.
Avatar f tn Almond milk from Blue Diamond is delicious and priced like soy milk. Almond milk and rice milk still have some soy in the ingredients but not as a main ingredient. To answer your question , anything but water can interfere with stomach absorption of meds. Anything but water is digested, water alone is just absorbed. Traces of sugar, proteins ect are digested. Will you notice depends on how much. Ritual coffee drinkers, will constantly slightly effect absorption.
Avatar f tn I cant remember if it is soy milk ot the almond milk but one of them is not good to drink if you are having a boy cause it has high levels of estrogen in it which is very bad for baby boys.
Avatar m tn soy milk (for protein), soy yogurt, soy butter, soy based protein bars, soy based cereal, etc. Well, she had been off of soy for a few weeks, and she got down to 93 pounds. Well, just recently started taking her vitamins that her doctor suggested due to abnornal blood work. Last week is when she lost the weight, and this past week, she has gained 6 pounds. Low and behold, the CoQ10 has soy in it! She also has very coarse hair and acne on her forehead which she never had before.
Avatar f tn soy milk, soy hot dogs, soy meats, soy energy bars, as well as many other food sources. Most of these “Western” food sources contain soyprotein isolate, which is a highly processed, devitalized, and toxic food source that needs to be avoided. In 1997, researchers reported that infants fed a soy formula ingested a whopping 28 to 47 milligrams (mg) of isoflavones — estrogen-like compounds found in soy.
Avatar f tn I am not a total expert, but I have recently learned that my habit of eating lots of soy products (soy milk, soy meat, etc) mimics estrogen in the body. I also found out that certain chemicals in soft plastic water bottles (which I had drank out of every day for a year at work) 'leak' into the water and also 'mimic' estrogen. Even stress hormones can lead to further imbalances.
Avatar f tn I hope to see more answers. I was told to avoid soy products, specifically tofu, edemame, soy milk, soy sauce is OK in the small amounts usually used. This was a blow to me because I love tofu and made soy milk chai every morning. The other item I avoid is flax seed because it's high in lignans and the phytoestrogens are there as well. It's great for the heart but now I avoid that as well. I'm on Arimidex as a postmenopausal woman.
Avatar f tn At some point, a pharmacist told me to stop eating soy. It was in everything... food, shampoo, lotion, make up, soy milk. Ha ha. Soy converts into estrogen in your body, which fees endometriosis. It has made my periods much less severe. I have now stopped all gluten as well and that has also helped tremendously. I'm not going to lie, it's a pain in the butt, but it's worth it to feel so much better.
Avatar f tn I am a vegetarian and have always eaten soy products. One of the benefits of soy is that it breaks down to a type of estrogen substitute. I have never taken estrogen replacement and my levels have always been great. Try a few soy products (ice cream, appetizers, supplements) and see if you feel better. Also, have you MD test your glucose levels. Both higher and lower levels will make you sweat!!
