Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen for bleeding

Avatar f tn Which is okay when it is not heavy, but I went on the depo shot because a friend had suggested it to me. She said she experienced bleeding after the shot and was prescribed estrogen for it. She took it for 3 days and her periods and spotting stopped completely. Now, my doctors will not prescribe me anything. My family doctor said he has never heard of this, and my gyno (which is the same doctor who prescribed her the estrogen) keeps saying ignore it.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 17, I am on Depo Provera and am having side effects such as constant bleeding (1 month and half) and the common mood changes. I was told that if I take estrogen I can minimize the bleeding or even stop it...However I was informed by a nurse that due to breast cancer running in my family if I starting to take an estrogen pill so early it can potentially make my risk of breast cancer even higher for the future.
414018 tn?1268611672 Terrific story! Thanks. : ) And thanks for all your hard work. Is your OVCA estrogen-dependent? Have you asked your doctor about taking anti-estrogen medication? I'm on one called Aromasin. It kills up to 95% of the estrogen in your body. I'm hoping it works for OVCA; it's in clinical trials for it now (it's used for breast cancer at the moment.) And hey, at least you're entering menopause as your winter is approaching in Australia. Happy hot flashes!
Avatar f tn stress induced low estrogen levels. So I was put on hormones again and I started bleeding after about 19 days. After a few months I started bleeding after 10 days. My doctor said it was unusual, but I should continue taking the hormones in sequence. We eventually changed the approach. She told me to take estrogen and gestagen together. She said I would not have any periods at all, but after 20 days I was bleeding again. She doesn't know why and I will try another brand of hormones.
Avatar f tn Hi, It is not normal to restart a period after having no periods for 8 long years. This should be considered as post-menopausal bleeding and the cause for the same needs to be investigated. A pelvic examination, Pap smear and an ultrasound scan should be done to make a diagnosis. It is necessary to rule out both benign and malignant conditions. Consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. The answer is based on information provided.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Hello I have posted this question on the other forum but have had no rsponse so am just asking you ladies or any answers, does anyone have any idea whilst on the 2ww some ladies (me for instance) bleed from day 11-13 although on progesterone and others do not until they stop their meds after getting the dreaded BFN. Also has anyone had 2 or 3 embryos put back, still had some bleeding and gone on to have a pregnancy i.e one of the embryos must have stuck.
Avatar f tn After saliva test i was told i have low adrelas and cortisol, DHNA and progesteron level in comparison to estrogen. I was taking natural progesteron for 1 month but only 50 mg bc i was too drowsy with full pull. But I fill more hot flashes and adrenal fatigue is worse. I think one of the reason is adrenal cream i used with GABA but probably also progesterone. Just in case I stopped using it. How long it should be used? Is there is something else to help with estrogen dominance?
Avatar n tn Progesterone levels fall and that allows the extra estrogen to cause us to be estrogen dominant. Estrogen dominance can also cause higher cholesterol levels by the way. :) My suggestion....let this period go for a few more days and see if it slows down. If it doesn't or it gets heavier and you're feeling "unwell" with it, give your doc a call.
Avatar n tn The concern I have again is could using estrogen cream bring on bleeding. My gynaecologist said that if I have further bleeding (after none for over 7 months now) she will have to do another hysteroscopy. Of course I am trying to avoid that situation. My main symptoms for treatment are anxiety and vaginal dryness. I was wondering if anybody has had a similar condition/suggestion and whether they found the estrogen cream was okay for them.
961574 tn?1520648103 thank you sooo much for the advice! i do have an appointment for Thusday July 30th for my first ultrasound. i just called and left a message to see if i should keep taking both x3 a day, waiting for them to call me back. i must admit, i just "do what the doctor tells me" and am just taking the meds "cause they told me too." they also have me taking a baby aspirin a day also.
Avatar f tn t, appears you have many clear signs of estrogen dominance. I believe estrogen to progesterone should be 2:1 (according to more naturopath MDs) and that is what I strive for, but definitely get many of the symptoms you list above when my estrogen gets too high. Saw 3 traditional OBGYNs + 2 internists who were of no help to me and their primary solution was BCP then finally got relief from a preventative medicine MD.
594189 tn?1386916607 I've been looking for your post! Hmm low estrogen? Did she test blood or what? I go in today at 11:00 because I always start bleeding 6dpo, light but none the less bleeding red. Then I get a full blown AF 8 days later!
Avatar n tn I had unprotected sex for the FIRST time in order to try conceiving in May, I started to spot, I thought it was implantation. I got my period lightly as of May 28th and it's still here. I've had no pain, and no other symptoms EXCEPT that I go through periods of passing the largest clots I have ever experienced in my entire life. When urinating I can sometimes feel them coming out -- this is VERY rare for me. I have had multiple blood tests - all say no pregnancy, but now iron is low.
Avatar f tn My period ended 15 days ago, about a week and a half ago my husband and I had sex with no pain at all, completely normal, but when I went to the bathroom I realized I was bleeding, not gushing but enough to worry about. When I woke up the next morning I wasn't bleeding. maybe two days after the initial bleeding I started to spot and had a severe pain in the lower left part of my stomach. It stopped the next day.
Avatar n tn after bleeding a month my doctor put me estrogen when i stopped bleeding i stopped taking it and didnt finish my perscription then i started bleeding again, after bleeding for more than seven days i realalized it wasnt my period i started taking estrogen again, and again when i stopped bleeding i stopped taking it, i called my doctor, he said dont take anything anymore for the bleeding, he also said spot bleeding could be a sign of withdraw from estrogen.
Avatar f tn The bleeding that you are having seems like break through bleeding. It is the type of bleeding that occurs when taking hormonal oral contraceptives (OC’s) and may also be caused by hormonal effects of ovulation. Breakthrough bleeding may also itself be a symptom of pregnancy (contraceptive failure).
Avatar f tn The period was light, but I had just had my normal flow two weeks prior while just taking the estrogen. Also, after bleeding from progesterone withdrawal, will I ovulate normally as if I had just had a regular period. I appreciate any answers anyone can provide. Thanks!
322529 tn?1224945949 I got a homeopathic remedy today called "for her" it has black cohosh, agnus castus and one other ingredient. How many of you have tried homeopathic remedies and which worked best?? thanks.
Avatar n tn My problem is I started bleeding again. What could be causing this. I have been bleeding for about a week now ; its been enough that I have to wear a pad.
Avatar f tn I’m on the depo injection and have been bleeding for nearly a week.
Avatar f tn I had no bleeding for the longest time. But then I started having very irregular bleeding, and then it evened out to where I only had periods 2 to 3 times a year. I know it is awful right now to bleed that much... I know how you feel. But see if you can't stick it out until the next shot is due. It most likely will subside and go back to normal. And it could very well become irregular for a few months. But if you can live with it, I promise it will be worth it.
Avatar f tn The information on it also very clearly states to tell your doctor if you are having unusual vaginal bleeding! As in, if it was not time for your period or you are bleeding more than usual, call your doctor back. Depression and anxiety are also side effects for some women who take it. Unless you have unmanageable hot flashes, I'm not sure it is necessary to put yourself through this!
Avatar f tn Your uterine lining is denuded. You need estrogen to thicken your lining. Unfortunately your only option for birth control after starting small doses of estrogen will probably be a copper IUD.
Avatar f tn I have used soy milk for a while before all of this started but I stopped it when the spotting started, out of fear that this caused the bleeding. I have also taken organic apple cider vinegar in water daily for the last months. My question is: Is it likely that I lack oestrogen or progresteron, and when will the bleeding stop?
Avatar f tn A dr at a clinic gave me a pap test and told me that my cervix is bloody. I am 60 and have not had a period or any bleeding whatsoever in 8 years. What would cause this ? I'm waiting for reports to come back and it's driving me crazy. Will I need a hysterectomy ?
