Avatar m tn Elevated estrogen levels really do cause men to look and somewhat act more like women and less like men. High estrogen levels in men can double the risk of stroke and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and heart attacks. Some research has also linked high estrogen levels to enlargement of the prostate and Prostate Cancer. When the rise in estrogen levels is accompanied by a decline in testosterone levels which is typically the case these risks are even greater.
Avatar m tn //www.healthline.com/health/low-testosterone/anti-estrogen-diet-men It's all that healthy stuff, not surprising. It's got red grapes on it though which I personally like.
Avatar m tn I have some very specific questions about progesterone in Men. If you're unsure what I'm asking please feel free to ask me to clarify. I have two questions. I hope somebody can help me understand this. 1 - If I go through a period of stress, my body will produce more Cortisol than normal. Too much Cortisol leads to the depletion of Progesterone. Progesterone is needed to oppose oestrogen in men.
Avatar m tn The plant steroids in saw palmetto act on progesterone receptors, that causes a reduction in estrogen levels. According to the results of a large international trial published in the "Journal of Clinical Oncology" in April 2011, estrogen and progesterone receptor status is a predictive marker of early breast cancer and post-treatment relapse. As you get older your hormone levels decrease, and your fat cells in your body increases.
Avatar f tn What symptoms are you having? I would suspect by your lab results that you are quite Hyper! As both your FT4 and FT3 are OVER the top of thr ange for both. BOTH of them being SIGNIFICANTLY over. did you take your Armour prior to the blood test? What little I know is that too much Testosterone and it will be converted into estrogen. At least in men. I'm not sure if the same is true with females. You have got a "Whole lot of hormones going on".
Avatar m tn No, I've never heard of anything about estrogen or testosterone being linked to cancer. And it's not that there is no test for HPV in men... it just usually takes the form of a biopsy of a genital wart. I also understand that there are some tests that are able to brush the penis and genitals and test that for the high-risk strains. With that said, the reason that it's not commonly done is because the health risks of HPV to men is virtually zero.

Avatar m tn I take a small amount of Arimidex to reduce high estrogen levels which is something to check *I think. I keep thinking there is something else missing that people who are on HRT need so if you every figure this out I would love to hear it.
Avatar m tn Hi, While I am not sure, I would consider hormone imbalance as a possible reason, especially the ratio of estrogen to testosterone. Better to consult an endocrinologist and get your complete hormone levels checked. Also check up the liver health as it can affect SHBG level which in turn can upset the ratio of estrogen to testosterone.
Avatar m tn retracting penis problem.... I would not be surprised if there is a link to estrogen that might be causing this problem. We (men) are consuming too much of it in our food we must consume foods or supplement to slow down our bodies from producing it. at the same time increase our testosterone levels it makes sense doesn't it. What would we look like if our penis retracted all the way back?????
233616 tn?1312787196 estrogen liver fibrosis ....and get 684,000 hits. Apparently the benefit to protecting the liver is well documented and the research has been around for a while. Yet my liver doctor didn't mention it, or suggest I go back on it.....but I did it through my endocrinologist as soon as I found out. I'm wondering how many ladies in here are aware of this, have any doctors told you??? or whether any men have considered a small dose to help slow the progression of this disease?
Avatar m tn An adequate intake of indole-3-carbinol (I3C), through vegetables such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, and cabbage, or via supplements, may prove to be very helpful for aging men in both keeping estrogen levels in check and decreasing their risk of prostate cancer. 5. Zinc is essential for optimal testosterone production. One supplement that should be considered absolutely essential for maintaining a man’s testosterone levels is zinc.
Avatar n tn I read that a c-section can throw off hormone levels. Maybe there is a connection between female hormone levels and neuropathy.
Avatar m tn Many HCV patients have low pituitary function, and growth hormone can help with fatigue there, because normal levels will return the body to normal rates of repair. Same with other hormones, but you need tests to determine what you are low on. If you are referencing female hormones, estrogen has been shown to decrease the rate at which fibrosis occurs, and does help females with fatigue as it allows for better rest. For guys, and some women there are risks that may outweigh those benefits.
Avatar f tn My guess is that your TESTOSTERONE levels are high. Estrogen levels are usually LOW when this occurs to my understanding. My EX wife had these conditions and became "nymphatic". She was lucky I was able to accommodate her. Some men WISH for this but believe me, it's NOT as wonderful as it sounds. Like Annie Brooke, my wife now has become all but non existent. My desires have increased and it makes for very awkward situations. I suppose you my try to tease him and tantalize him.
Avatar n tn Hypothyroidism can cause depression and in men it can cause low testosterone levels which also can cause depression. Hypothyroidism can also cause B 12, Calcium and Vit. D deficiencies. So the answer to your question the chicken came first. It is important that you keep taking your replacement testosterone as it can cause issues of it's own. I'm not sure about the estrogen relationship. If your taking your meds and still feeling depressed maybe you need a adjustment in your meds.
1351105 tn?1277142905 No I have low estrogen levels for the past few months. My doctor did a test to see if I'm in premenapause. I'm very close to being in it. I haven't had a period in 3 almost 4 months. Last yeah I went almost 6 months without a period. I have endometriosis. Trying for another baby. No luck. It's been almost a year since we started trying. I've been having some crazy hot flashes since I got pregnant with my son and they never went away.
Avatar n tn I also do not have ovaries but I take estrogen. When my estrogen level gets rather high, my FSH is low (in the range of a menstruating woman). When my estrogen is on the lower side, my FSH rises.
Avatar n tn Last year, I was on the birth control pill (Marvelon 21) to regulate my periods which I had a lack of due to low estrogen levels because of, mainly, being overweight. I have not been on the pill since July 2007. I am just wondering, is it possible to become pregnant if I have not had my period for the past 4 to 5 months? Also, will I have difficulty in the future to get pregnant having such irregular menstrual cycles and taking the birth control pill so excessively?
1052633 tn?1311872678 i recently switched to another fertility specialist with more experience and when she looked @ my records from the other office, she informed me that my fsh levels are fine! it was my estrogen levels that are high. so what i was wondering was if anybody knew if by me having high estrogen levels, is that going to be an issue for the IVF procedure? i dont know if that's going to affect my ability to have a successful IVF procedure.
Avatar f tn I was about to start my fourth month of clomid tonight but just got my blood test results back. The nurse told me that my estrogen levels are a bit too high and that I should NOT take my clomid this month. Today is my cd 5 and my estrogen level is 162. Can anyone help me to understand what this means and why can I not do clomid this cycle? I am trying to conceive my first child and am very confused.
Avatar n tn Recommend having a full check-up with blood work including your thyroid levels. If the thyroid levels are normal, then use a tape measure instead of a scale to indicate if you are advancing in getting healthy with your exercising and eating healthy. Measure your waist and hips as a guide for trimming down. As we exercise we build lean body muscle mass which weight more than fat so the scale reflects no weight loss when in fact the body is trimming down fat.
