Avatar m tn s, memory and cognitive impairment, lung cancer, vision changes, hair and skin changes, sexual dysfunction. Estrogen may help with symptoms and may mitigate some of the risks.
Avatar f tn Estrogen should not be taken without a progestogen or you're at risk for proliferation of the uterine lining which can cause hyperplasia or cancer. Have you tried various formulations of progestins? Have you tried micronized progesterone (brand name Prometrium)? There's also a vaginal progestogen called Crinone that is mainly used to maintain pregnancy. It may be an option to cycle less frequently than monthly. You could discuss it with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Hello, my wife had a full hysterectomy approximately 10 years ago and everything was taken out, EVERYTHING. She had a few cysts and her gynecologist suggested a full hysterectomy due to the fact that the cysts could come back if she were to get a a half hysterectomy. Long story short, she's a strong woman who really keeps it together but she has recently expressed that she's been battling depression.
Avatar f tn Sorry for all your troubles! I sure can relate to the problems caused by hysterectomy! Mine was 8 years ago and I still mourn the losses. Are you saying you have tried all HRT's? My gynecologist (my ex-gyn since my surgery) prescribed the highest dose Vivelle-Dot patch and it was a dismal failure. The only benefit was a well lubricated vagina yet I still had absolutely no desire for sex (still don't though).
Avatar n tn but the kind that move back and forth on the sides of my vision, never directly in my central vision. About two weeks ago my neck and eyes hurt since I have severe muscle tension in those areas, a lot of it due to sports injures in my neck in the past... that's why my neck is bad. Anyway, pain two weeks ago. About a week ago, I noticed my floaters have gotten massively worse and now I have floaters hitting my central vision, moving in and out constantly.
Avatar f tn I have what seems to be the same vision problems as "fibromed". My vision gets blurry and I feel the need to rub them -- it seems like there is a film of saran wrap over my eyeballs and I can't peel it off. My eyes get more tired as the day goes on.
Avatar f tn Studies show that ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure increases risk for many health problems including heart disease (the #1 killer of women), osteoporosis, hip fracture, cognitive and memory impairment, dementia, Parkinsonism, mood disorders (depression, mood swings, anxiety, irritability), vision and skin changes, poor sleep quality, urogenital atrophy, sexual dysfunction, more severe hot flushes (I think that's all of them!).
Avatar f tn For the past month I have been very exhausted, no energy, when I stand I get light headed and sometimes my vision gets funky, I can feel my heart beating in both sides of my neck and hear it in my ears. I feel this way with any king of physical activity. I feel ok when I am sitting or laying in bed however the exhaustion is still there. What might be causing this?
405855 tn?1217100767 What is the correlation of estrogen and follicles? What should the estrogen number be before ovulation. Can this number be affected if you are taking Femara. On CD11, I had 5 follis - 20, 15, 18, 17, 16, 12 but my estrogen was only 23, is it possible? My lining was so think 4 mm only.
Avatar f tn I remember that prior to starting treatment in Sept 09, I read somewhere that being post menopause would be a negative strike against me but I still opted to NOT take estrogen. I have been in surgical menopause since 1996, I took estrogen for 10 years and then quit because of the increased chance of breast cancer after taking estrogen so many years. I finished treatment (without taking estrogen since 2006) and I achieved SVR.
Avatar m tn I went through a serious bout of stress from my job a couple of years ago and ended up leaving. My hair thinned, I started getting fat round my waste and on my chest giving me the dreaded man boobs look. The stress and lack of sleep got so bad at times that I often forgot what day it was and could not sleep or stop my hands from shaking. Now the problem remains and I can't get rid of it. My DHEA is fine and so is my testosterone.
Avatar m tn three months ago I had Pnemonia and even with using bi -est, I am having hot flashes and night sweats which has never happened to me on a constant basis. My husband thinks the pnemunia/fever rearranged my hormones and it will take awhile for them to settle down. I am 57 and was pretty stable on the bi-est. has this ever happened to anyone else?? Thx!
429647 tn?1249753429 my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
Avatar f tn I am new to this forum, and new to the world of menopause. I recently had my last ovary removed due to cysts and endometreosis. I did not want to go through menopause or life with no estrogen at age 35, so I opted for the estrogen hormone therapy. I chose to go with the Estradiol patches. I think that it regulates the estrogen more efficiently and you can't forget to take a pill! Let me give you my two cents on your issues...know that I am not a dr., but am going through this myself.
587083 tn?1327120262 Soy and estrogen: I've read much conflicting information about this, but what I believe we can say for sure is that soy products (soy milk, tofu, edamame) supply a weak form of estrogen from plant sources, called phytoestrogens. With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause.
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
Avatar m tn Endometriosis feed off estrogen. The estrogen-dependent endo lesions, if left unchecked, will begin to create their own estrogen. I do want to clarify that the pill or any other form of HRT does not prevent the Endometriosis from growing. The reason it is used is to help stop the pain by stopping the periods. I was on a low dose BCP (Marvelon) for 8 yrs continuously and did help with my pain. However it still continued to grow even after deep excision surgery.
Avatar f tn The estrogen is kicking in with a vengeance and my poor husband has to just grin and bare it all. I think after this pregnancy he will think carefully before attempting to make number 2. Are you experiencing the same?
Avatar m tn All I know is that after you get pregnant you can use an ovulation monitor as a pregnancy test since it can tell an increase just like when you ovulate. I'm not sure how soon after ovulation it works though.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was on estrogen patches when I was first diagnosed with B6 toxicity, and in fact had been slowing ramping up on the estrogen. Estrogen reportedly increases your need for B6, which seems counterintuitive, since I had more B6 toxicity with higher levels of estrogen. Perhaps estrogen causes B6 to store more readily in the muscle? I have no idea, but there IS an effect, somehow. Also, during my B6 toxicity recovery, things were always much worse before my period.
Avatar m tn By 4 or 5 months post-op, I had lost over half my hair, it grayed in the front, I lost a lot of skin collagen and muscle mass causing saggy, old looking skin, and my vision blurred. I am sorry you are faced with this.
Avatar m tn My worst symptoms were SEVERE depression, fragmented sleep, horrible hair loss and graying, skin aging, and vision deterioration (very blurry vision). Estrogen has helped a lot and, in fact, cured my severe depression and helps immensely with sleep. I am still not the person I was prior to being de-sexed but I am at least functional and no longer want to end my life. I am still angry and don't think I will ever get over being betrayed by my long-time gynecologist.
