Hi, I have osteoarthritis in my thumbs and index fingers, carpal tunnel in both wrists, arthritis in my neck and other areas of my back and my knees. But I am not diagnosed as having RA. It is possible that you just have the *wear and tear* arthritis in a lot of your joints. You're not too young, esp. if it runs in the family.

When we started doing IVF treatments to get pregnant, I went off of the Enbrel. For the first two trimesters, my RA seemed to go into remission and I didn't need any treatments - which was a MIRACLE! Now I'm starting my third trimester (I'm 27 weeks) and I am starting to have ALL SORTS of complications with my joints. Pain, swelling, can barely move.

RA is a completely different disease!

Hi... I was diagnosed with ostearthritis & fibromyalgia a few years ago...and have been taking mobic since then, which has worked. About a month ago, the mobic didn't seem to be working as well.. my hands were hurting a lot at work... so I went back to my dr & he changed my medicine to relafen for the osteoarthritis & lyrica for the fibromyalgia. Although the lyrica seems to work, I'm not liking the side effects, puffy hands & feet & eye twitching...

t mean to frighten Enbrel users. For many ppl Enbrel is a wonderful medication that causes no serious side effects and brings great benefits. There are many testimonies that support it's effectiveness. However with any drug, (even Aspirin) that doesn't apply to 100% of the ppl. No one should discontinue any medication without first consulting their physician. I am hopeful your Rheumatologist will listen to your concerns and address them.

I have been told to get off Enbrel for needed gallbladder surgery. My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.

Hi I have been on Enbrel injections for over 4 years and i can't praise the drug enough fantastic results - i have the chance to visit family in Australia for 4 months when i retire in 18 months time the only obstacle is my medication and how would it work with my getting enbrel injections and it is a long flight - is there a solution around this problem

I went to my doctor the next day and he prescribed a pregnisone pack which took away the pain and swelling, but once it ran out, everything came back with a vengance. I was sent to a Rheumatologist and they ran tests for lyme, HIV, RA, sed rate, etc. everything came back negative? I was basically diagnosed as having somekind of sudden onset of arthritis, probably RA, given vioxx and pregnisone and sent on my way.

there are a lot of new meds available for RA now, my grandmother gets enbrel injections every 2-3 days, and she swears by it, she has had RA since she was 32, and is now 84, she has tried EVERYTHING, and this so far has been the best treatment for her yet...there are a few others, but i dont know much of them. but i would definalty check into these new meds. they are really making great strides in treatment options for RA, she shouldnt have to be on those strong narcotics for relief...

Makes sense. The secretary started to say on the message " it is too much" and stopped herself, guess I jumped to the needle thing too quickly. I start taking Enbrel tomorrow for my arthritis and AS, the neuro says it's ok. When I researched the drug it states that people with MS should not take it. I asked a neuro on this forum about it and he said Enbrel can " increase and or bring on demyelination".

Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?

AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. weird, never thought that enbrel would be a cause of hpv. I have developed hpv before starting on enbrel. what connection is there between the two?

I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!

My dad has been taking Enbrel for several yrs for psoriatic arthritis. I realize this is not the same condition as yours, but it has helped him tremendously!

I have been taking Enbrel for 5 years. I am 57 years. In the last year I have developed a head tremor which is getting progressively worse.

I just wanted t say for me I needed a supplemental DMARD to take with Enbrel. I ended up doing 1000 mg Sulfasalazine and that has made all the difference in the world. I've been flare free for going on four years now.

Can you take enbrel for psorasis and interfern for Hepatitis C, and be safe and will both medication work

Every single medication comes with some very scary risks,I know exactly what you are going through and tried every natural cure I read about, my disease was too severe for any of them to work. The Enbrel has helped me tremendously, I did not want to take it either at first and it took about a year for me to realize I was getting worse and life was passing me by, I missed out on too many things because I was always in too much pain and too tired/fatigued to have a life.

I have been on Enbrel in the past for at least 3 years until my arthritis progressed. I have never had any of the symptoms that you have described. I have had the darkened areas along the injection areas. I would check with the doctor regarding this.

Is there any way you can be over medicated with the enbrel and celebrex? For the fatigue I use vitamin B complex. This really helps me. Good luck and dont give up!

I was diagnosed with Severe RA in 1999 and was prescribed Enbrel. I've been on it 2 times a week since then and have very good luck with it. No side effects and have to take no other medications with it, besides Vicodin when I have a flare up or severe pain. I'll be getting married this October and am curious to know if any woman out there have gotten pregnant and given birth while on Enbrel.

Some people get both RA and fibro, or osteoarthritis and fibro. I assume your doctor did all the blood tests, including checking your thyroid. If not, get that done. I am kind of the opposite of you. I was diagnosed with fibro (and osteo in my knees), but I think I have RA, but blood tests didn't show it. Sometimes I think these doctors just throw a diagnosis at you and don't even listen to what your symptoms are. I'm looking for a new doctor now.
