Just a note to you on your thoughts of not stopping your embrel before surgery. I had surgery on sept. 19th 2008, never stopped taking the embrel before surgery. I had 13 nodules removed off my left arm. I have been fighting an infection since oct. 19 2008, in my arm .

If your symptoms of throat infections and sinusitis are evident and have worsened since starting Enbrel, then it could be related to the medication. Discuss alternative options with your doctor, before discontinuing Enbrel. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

s are interesting to say the least, I had only been on the Enbrel 4 weeks when he said he wanted to take me off of it and try Remicade or Humira. I work in the medical field and researched the heck out of the Enbrel before I started taking it, risk outweighing the benefits etc, it also said it could take up to 3 months to work so I insisted he allow me to give it the full amount of time to work. When you have the time I would love to know the exercises you do.

weird, never thought that enbrel would be a cause of hpv. I have developed hpv before starting on enbrel. what connection is there between the two?

My doctor wants to put me on Enbrel but i am nervious about it. All the reading i do about it suggests that the cure is worse then the disease and it seems that the risk of getting cancer, lupus or the like is extreamly high (higher then the other injectables). I am no stranger to biologics, my doctor had me on Raptiva (before they pulled it) and i loved it. Completly cleared me with no side effects and even kept me clear for 2 years after i stopped using it. But Enbrel scares me.

I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 19 years old. I'm now 32 and pregnant. I've been giving myself shots of Enbrel to control it since 2001. When we started doing IVF treatments to get pregnant, I went off of the Enbrel. For the first two trimesters, my RA seemed to go into remission and I didn't need any treatments - which was a MIRACLE! Now I'm starting my third trimester (I'm 27 weeks) and I am starting to have ALL SORTS of complications with my joints.

and has had no relief from the neck pain or dizziness. He is considering neck surgery and recently heard of Enbrel spinal injections or possible Enbrel treatment. He is seeking an answer and will consider travel or participating in a research study. Any ideas or thoughts are much appreciated.

No one could explain why hours before I was told I had a serious degenerating lung condition and then sent home with only words to the effect that it would clear itself. Excruciating pain in diafram area and shoulders that only got better when oxygen was increased from 2 to 5 for test, then left at 4 for hours, could not be explained. My family doc said it was cause I needed oxygen, but that didn't fit boop so they offered tylenol which didn't help.

Hi - has anyone who has ever been on Enbrel noticed a rust-colored staining on the hands? I'm not sure if it is directly related to enbrel, but I thought I would ask. My daughter was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis several months ago, and has tried Remicade unsuccessfully. Now, she has had 2 injections of Enbrel, and just today has noticed the staining on her hands. I don't know what to think, so I'd appreciate hearing from any of you.

I have been taking Enbrel for 5 years. I am 57 years. In the last year I have developed a head tremor which is getting progressively worse.

Hi rocketship, I took mtx orally for many years and switched to injections within the last two years, along with adding Enbrel. You need a good 3 to 6 months to determine if mtx is going to work for you. I would guess that if you've experienced NO improvement at 5 months, it's time to start questioning your rheumatologist about adjusting dosage or changing meds. Placquenil never did anything for me, so maybe ask about dropping that and replacing it with either Humira or Enbrel.

I also developed Ankoylosing Spondylitis as I too am HLA-B27 positive. I was a runner/triathlete before all this happened. I started taking Enbrel about 4 months ago, it took about 3 months to begin working. I had 0 quality of life before I started taking this drug, you have to weigh the risk/benefit factor. In 2 of 3 people the arthritis can become chronic as in my case and should you get re-infected from an STD your symptoms can recur.

I’ve been taking Enbrel for the past 15 years or so with HUGE success! I have since Retired from work last month and now have a limited income. I signed up to Medicare/AARP for my post retirement healthcare requirement. During employment my Co-Pay was 25 dollars for a month supply. Now, Medicare and AARP collective insurance leaves me with 1,000 dollars for a month supply. Retail? $4600-$5500 for a 4 doses (month supply) Is there ANYTHING else that works as well as this?

Hi. I've had RA for 17 years, on Enbrel for the last 8.5. I never wanted to go on MTX because the side effects scare me, and I enjoy a few drinks with friends. A new doctor has put me on it in conjunction with Enbrel because I have couple joints which have been causing me problems. Otherwise, I've been great on Enbrel. I am now in my 3rd week on MTX, and seveal joints are really flaring. I find this very depressing.

Recently, the RA flared up and my doctor added Enbrel. I have severe headches and feel like my heart is beating so fast that i get dizzy. The doctor thinks that this is because I am on yet another medication and my body has to adjust. Is anyone familiar with this drug? Has anyone gone as far as to have a second opinion for their RA? Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?

I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!

Goodmorning,In the beginning that being in 1990,i was a tractor-trailer driver(the big rigs) As a result of unloading a heavy box in an unsafe bent over position,i experinced a sharp pain in my lower-back.Long story short,my 1st surgery was in oct.1990,5 months after the injury.I receaved a (Laminectomy,the part of the disc.that was pinching the nerve was cut away,i was happy with the precedure.

put me on predisone (the syptom started before the predisone) for a month to bring it back into control and we will decide from there on how to proceed. I have been on methotrexate in the past. Also, since starting the prednisone I have been having severe allergies. Something I normally do not have. Anyway, any thoughts on the leg pain?

Hi I have been on Enbrel injections for over 4 years and i can't praise the drug enough fantastic results - i have the chance to visit family in Australia for 4 months when i retire in 18 months time the only obstacle is my medication and how would it work with my getting enbrel injections and it is a long flight - is there a solution around this problem

m convinced that there is a correlation between these things and the Enbrel. Have any other Enbrel users been diagnosed with any of these inflammatory diseases? My gut feeling is that the Enbrel truly is the cause, but it has worked so well on my joints, I'm hesitant to try anything else. one year of Enbrel injections. Although the Enbrel may have lessened the pain and progression. other side effects and basically an unwell feeling. dizziness. sinusitis. Pain in eyes. If this is as good as it gets. there must be something better. anyone else been here and found something better?
