enbrel and vitiligo

I'm in the same vote. On enbrel and have developed hpv. Very tiny bumps if even noticeable at all, but its been spreading. Aldara only made my psoriasis and psa flare up. I guess the next thing is to stop enbrel till my hpv clears up? I am 29, male, non smoker. Enbrel is the only med I take.

Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?

one year of Enbrel injections. Although the Enbrel may have lessened the pain and progression. other side effects and basically an unwell feeling. dizziness. sinusitis. Pain in eyes. If this is as good as it gets. there must be something better. anyone else been here and found something better?

ll be getting married this October and am curious to know if any woman out there have gotten pregnant and given birth while on Enbrel.

I've been on Enbrel for almost 9 years. I've recently been developing tremors in my hands, cheeks (when I smile), and tongue. Talked to my rheumy. He doesn't think it's the Enbrel, but I am growing more concerned. They're not bad, but they do seem to be progressing.

m thinking (and feeling) that one shot would be okay. In fact, I would rather give myself an Enbrel shot than take prednisone (which is normally what they give pregnant women with RA if they need medication. But I LOATHE prednisone and it's side effects. However - they say it's "safe.") Enbrel has always been good to me and I think it would be okay to take right now.

My primary care physician did test my thyroid when I first met him when he noticed I had Vitiligo and I found out I have hypothyroidism. I am being treated for that but I've read that this autoimmune disorder may be caused by vitamin deficiencies and my doctor has never mentioned I should be tested.

So just an update about this. Just when we finally got cleared for me to take the Enbrel while pregnant, we find out it's not going to be into the pharmacy until Friday AND it's going to cost $900!!! BUT it turns out it will actually probably be safer for me TO take the Enbrel. I have to control my arthritis because if I don't control it, (according to the lady at the pregnancy risk hotline we talked to today) Rheumatoid ARthritis puts me at risk for still birth and preterm labor.

Thanks smittygirl. I was on the fence with this decision but leaning in the same direction as your perspective. Sunday, today, is my injection day. I've had the p.i. for a week, and it seems to be clearing up despite the Enbrel. So like you, I agree; I'd rather itch a little, then have the chest-wall pain (my main symtom). BTW... good luck with AS. Prior to joining this forum, I read some of the past posts, and yours came forward as a real success story.

If you have Lupus or ankylosing spondylitis, there are other classes of drugs that can be used to help with the pain, such as Humira, Enbrel and others. These drugs come with a lot of adverse side effects, so it might be best to try other anti-inflammatories first, to see if you can get relief before resorting to them. Do make sure you have adequate testing/imaging to insure a proper diagnosis.

I have had two shots of Humira, I constantly have sinus issues, pain pressure, teeth hurt and hedaches. I got them on enbrel and after 9 years it quit working, so tired remicade but after 4 infusions I had such a bad insus probelm I quit it also raised my blood pressrue a lot. I don't seem to be able to handle hard core antibidoics so I can take zpack, and it helps, but I always seem to be back on it alteast every two months.

I was in between jobs and had no insurance and had to stop the Enbrel for 3 weeks, within 2 weeks the pain and stiffness was back worse than ever. The price of Enbrel is $1500.00 monthly so it doesn't surprise me that the insurance company won't give you the 2 a week you need. Talk to your doc about the other 2 drugs and see if they will better help control your pain and stiffness. Keep me posted!

My husband has ankylosingspondilitis and takes enbrel injections and has considered taking methotrexate before. Best of luck. Could be a real blessing from God :) and a healthy baby!

To have a second opinion we went to an another dermatologist he said it is not vitiligo and is 100 % curable this may be because of thyroid / liver problem and suggested LFT and thyroid tests. Now am totally confused what to do, what all tests (another than the mentioned above) should we do so as to know the actual cause. Is there any tests / specific symptoms for vitiligo ?

I'M A MALE 59 YEARS OLD BUT WITH A VERY ACTIVE LIFE STYLE. I;VE HAD RA FOR 25 YEARS, STARTING TAKING METHOTREXATE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO WITH PREDIZONE FROM TIME TO TIME. AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS.

My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.

White spots on the body may suggest a fungal infection, pityriasis alba, and vitiligo. Vitiligo presents as white patches which may occur symmetrically in both sides of the body. The borders are well demarcated. As for fungal infections, it presents as white patches of skin with a central scaling. It may not be stark white unlike vitiligo. Pityriasis usually involves children.They present as diffuse patches of whitish spots. I suggest you have this assessed by your dermatologist.

I have also been through the ringer with test for a yr and 4 months now, I finally found a Doctor that tells me ankylosing spondylitas, I just started Enbrel Friday and hope it works.

Update: Yes, there is a relationship. I now have both vitiligo and alopecia areata. The doctors have confirmed that there is a relationship as well as the alopecia areata registry. First I noticed vitiligo on my inner wrists and a small amount near my mouth. Then a year later was diagnosed as hypothyroid. Next, I seem to not have the general health I used to -- find I'm much more susceptible to viruses, etc., even ending up with shingles at one point. Seems like my immune system is failing me in several areas. Anyone else with Hashimoto's experiencing this same pattern? Any suggestions to halt or slow down this decline?

White skin patches may have fungal infections, pityriasis alba and vitiligo as differentials. These are differentials that you may need to consider for any hypopigmented areas on the skin. Is there any scaling involved?

I was only 42 at the time and the thought of that was mindboggleing! Enbrel was introduced in 1998 and by the time my insurance agreed to pay for it it was Spring 1999 when I took my first injection. I started Enbrel along with an injectible dose of.09 Mtx weekly. For me Enbrel was a light-switch medication and within 2 weeks I was a normal functioning adult again with no pain at all.

...there were alot of things he could not do anymore. Since being on Enbrel, the inflamation, pain and swelling is gone. He's doing the things he wants to do and its because of Enbrel. I understand why you are nervous about the side effects, but my dads experience has only been positive.
