Common Questions and Answers about Enbrel and tb test

enbrel

Avatar n tn I'm in the same vote. On enbrel and have developed hpv. Very tiny bumps if even noticeable at all, but its been spreading. Aldara only made my psoriasis and psa flare up. I guess the next thing is to stop enbrel till my hpv clears up? I am 29, male, non smoker. Enbrel is the only med I take.
Avatar m tn I have had HCV for a long time and I work in the medical field. We are required to do a TB test yearly and I am always neg.?
422104 tn?1209763904 Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?
Avatar m tn There are millions of people , mostly from other countries, who have come into contact with TB but are not active, and when they get a TB tine test, it can show a false positive and therefore, you need the chest xray to confirm. For some reason a TB vaccine of some kind is given to children in foreign countries and the reaction to the tine test Positive(red and raised) here in the US is really just a reaction to that vaccine.
Avatar f tn But i have to do a TB skin test also. I wont ovulate until the 30th of this month(unless i get stressed and it is delayed) Will me getting the test affect the baby if i get preggo. How long does the substance stay in your body after getting the shot. Also has anyone taking a TB skin test while they were preggo and had no problems, any feedback would be great.
Avatar m tn one year of Enbrel injections. Although the Enbrel may have lessened the pain and progression. other side effects and basically an unwell feeling. dizziness. sinusitis. Pain in eyes. If this is as good as it gets. there must be something better. anyone else been here and found something better?
Avatar n tn ll be getting married this October and am curious to know if any woman out there have gotten pregnant and given birth while on Enbrel.
Avatar f tn I have also been through the ringer with test for a yr and 4 months now, I finally found a Doctor that tells me ankylosing spondylitas, I just started Enbrel Friday and hope it works.
1822062 tn?1317279766 Hi, sorry this is such a delayed response!
Avatar n tn I've been on Enbrel for almost 9 years. I've recently been developing tremors in my hands, cheeks (when I smile), and tongue. Talked to my rheumy. He doesn't think it's the Enbrel, but I am growing more concerned. They're not bad, but they do seem to be progressing.
Avatar n tn I recently took a tb test at a job I got a week ago dealing with mental health. I took the test at the location I work at. When I arrived in the office for the medical assistant to conduct the test, the syringe had already been opened. I'm worried that he reused an old syringe to conduct a tb skin test which could have been used on someone that's hiv positive. Do I have anything to worry about even if the tb syringe was reused?
1544019 tn?1318504526 m thinking (and feeling) that one shot would be okay. In fact, I would rather give myself an Enbrel shot than take prednisone (which is normally what they give pregnant women with RA if they need medication. But I LOATHE prednisone and it's side effects. However - they say it's "safe.") Enbrel has always been good to me and I think it would be okay to take right now.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor but these are all signs of TB exposure. So, it means she has been exposed at some point and when her immunity goes down she may develop TB in the lung. She could get prophylaxic Isoniazid (INH). I would see if the doctor reccommends the antibiotic or not. Since she has some symptoms she may develop TB but the bacteria that cause TB haven't taken over yet. CRP (C-Reactive protein) is high during inflammation and infection.
Avatar f tn Yup, it's safe according to the CDC. It's just a tiny amount that's injected and it doesn't even get into your bloodstream, just the tissue in your arm, and unless you have TB (which you almost certainly don't) your body will just break it down and get rid of it.
429700 tn?1308007823 This is in response to the post about the new medince that recently was approved for treatment of MS. I basically posted that I probably couldn't take the medicine because of having responded to a TB test (Mantoux test). A dear forum member responded, and here's my reply on a new thread because I didn't want to hijack the other thread with negativity when it is such encouraging news for people with MS who have to take medicine that has to be injected.
1544019 tn?1318504526 So just an update about this. Just when we finally got cleared for me to take the Enbrel while pregnant, we find out it's not going to be into the pharmacy until Friday AND it's going to cost $900!!! BUT it turns out it will actually probably be safer for me TO take the Enbrel. I have to control my arthritis because if I don't control it, (according to the lady at the pregnancy risk hotline we talked to today) Rheumatoid ARthritis puts me at risk for still birth and preterm labor.
445362 tn?1206965718 I don't know where else to put this question and I really would like some answers. I had tested positive for TB around the age of 2 or so. I am now 31. In the mid-90s when applying for work I was given a TB test and had a very bad reaction. At that time I didn't know I had been treated as a child for a year on Isoniazide. My chest x rays had been clear at the time, but I was treated of course anyways. After the re test I got sick from the test itself. I didn't look into in further.
Avatar f tn But just found out I tested positive for TB. So is my 12 week hiv negative test conclusive even though I tested positive with TB?
Avatar f tn i just was diagnossed with herpes 2.and i also have tb infection. i know herpes is dormant in the nerves were does tb stay dormant.and since they are viruses how are they alike and different? will one upset the other? I havent shown signs of any of these viruses just took a blood test thats how i knew.
Avatar f tn About two month ago I have been having a a very bad violent cough. The doctor had me an x ray and said my lung is clear. I have no fever and other tb symptoms. He gave me asthma medication since I'm an asthmatic. The cough do subside but doesn't go away completely it still lingering. I think it's pertussis since it has a paroxysmal characteristic. My problem is I have anxiety/panic disorder. I'm so anxious now since I know that anxiety weaken the immune system.
Avatar n tn I just received a positive skin test for TB. My chest X-ray was negative which means that I don't have active TB. The result could've been a false positive because I was born in a 3rd world country and received the BCJ vaccine which can cause false positives. I was reading online and read that there is a link between TB and HIV. I haven't had any risk factors for HIV. I practice abstinence and do not use drugs or anything like that.
Avatar m tn Thanks smittygirl. I was on the fence with this decision but leaning in the same direction as your perspective. Sunday, today, is my injection day. I've had the p.i. for a week, and it seems to be clearing up despite the Enbrel. So like you, I agree; I'd rather itch a little, then have the chest-wall pain (my main symtom). BTW... good luck with AS. Prior to joining this forum, I read some of the past posts, and yours came forward as a real success story.
429700 tn?1308007823 Just wanted to share my experience in case others are in the same boat . . . You may remember that I've posted about having a PPD revealing that I have had been exposed to TB a long time ago. I've had several chest x-rays, sputum test, and even a CT scan of my lungs to show that the TB wasn't active. The doctor said it was latent TB. It is really weird that I have been exposed to TB and cannot figure out for the life of me how that's happened.
