enbrel and live vaccines

I live with chronic pain osteoarthritis, and i have three kids i'm pregnant with my fourth now.

I have a question about live virus vaccines. I had to have a physical for school and they had to do titers on me to see if I was immune to some of diseases. Well my MMR came back low so I need a booster so that I am immune since I will be working in the health care field. My question is, is it ok for me to get a live vaccine. I personally don't think it would be a problem but I know that live vaccines throw the immune system into gear and want to know if it can cause a relapse.

I'm in the same vote. On enbrel and have developed hpv. Very tiny bumps if even noticeable at all, but its been spreading. Aldara only made my psoriasis and psa flare up. I guess the next thing is to stop enbrel till my hpv clears up? I am 29, male, non smoker. Enbrel is the only med I take.

Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?

Im not sure of the effect on a baby but it should be no different then a flu vaccine (also killed) I am a certified vet tech and give rabies vaccines to animals reqularly.. hope to help and dont worry!

I have had two shots of Humira, I constantly have sinus issues, pain pressure, teeth hurt and hedaches. I got them on enbrel and after 9 years it quit working, so tired remicade but after 4 infusions I had such a bad insus probelm I quit it also raised my blood pressrue a lot. I don't seem to be able to handle hard core antibidoics so I can take zpack, and it helps, but I always seem to be back on it alteast every two months.

one year of Enbrel injections. Although the Enbrel may have lessened the pain and progression. other side effects and basically an unwell feeling. dizziness. sinusitis. Pain in eyes. If this is as good as it gets. there must be something better. anyone else been here and found something better?

ll be getting married this October and am curious to know if any woman out there have gotten pregnant and given birth while on Enbrel.

I've been on Enbrel for almost 9 years. I've recently been developing tremors in my hands, cheeks (when I smile), and tongue. Talked to my rheumy. He doesn't think it's the Enbrel, but I am growing more concerned. They're not bad, but they do seem to be progressing.

t feel up to doing to much I thought I might as well sit quietly today and well I have a booster HEP A and B vaccines due, as I had to have this when I went overseas. Should I have this? Could this cause or is this linked to new attacks? My old neurologist wouldn't let me have a flu vaccine as he said something about it being a live vaccine and that it would be like suicide at the time? It was thought I had MS at that time.

I have also been through the ringer with test for a yr and 4 months now, I finally found a Doctor that tells me ankylosing spondylitas, I just started Enbrel Friday and hope it works.

m thinking (and feeling) that one shot would be okay. In fact, I would rather give myself an Enbrel shot than take prednisone (which is normally what they give pregnant women with RA if they need medication. But I LOATHE prednisone and it's side effects. However - they say it's "safe.") Enbrel has always been good to me and I think it would be okay to take right now.

A friend of mine has PA and has been taking Enbrel for years and she is in great health now. I started taking it 14 weeks ago after being so miserable for 4 years. I feel the best I have since getting sick 4 years ago. I urge you to speak to your Dr. about it. Take care.

Who all in the babies family needs to get.the vaccine for whooping cough? I know me and his dad need.to get it but will the other people who live in the house with him need to get it?

Thanks smittygirl. I was on the fence with this decision but leaning in the same direction as your perspective. Sunday, today, is my injection day. I've had the p.i. for a week, and it seems to be clearing up despite the Enbrel. So like you, I agree; I'd rather itch a little, then have the chest-wall pain (my main symtom). BTW... good luck with AS. Prior to joining this forum, I read some of the past posts, and yours came forward as a real success story.

Tay9662- i would hate to live were you do, i just think everyone has their own opinion on the matter and it isnt right to be told what is best for your child by someone else (government) when for many reasons they should have no input on this subject :(

I was in between jobs and had no insurance and had to stop the Enbrel for 3 weeks, within 2 weeks the pain and stiffness was back worse than ever. The price of Enbrel is $1500.00 monthly so it doesn't surprise me that the insurance company won't give you the 2 a week you need. Talk to your doc about the other 2 drugs and see if they will better help control your pain and stiffness. Keep me posted!

My husband has ankylosingspondilitis and takes enbrel injections and has considered taking methotrexate before. Best of luck. Could be a real blessing from God :) and a healthy baby!

Actually is was helpful, thank you very much. I have been on the Enbrel for 10 weeks now and about 2 weeks ago the pain and stiffness from the AS was markedly improved. I also have ReA ( Reactive Arthritis ) and my hands, knees and toes do not seem to be any better, Like you I cannot tolerate methotrexate at all, it made me severely depressed and suicidal. When I was first dx I was given Ketoprophen which is just a RX anti-inflammatory but it worked wonders for me.

Our school checks what vaccines kids have had. So, there is no link proven link between autism and vaccines (and boy did they try hard to prove that)--- so, to me (as an educated woman as well), the research indicates that vaccines are safe and should be given per the recommended schedule by the CDC.

Has anyone had worse pain at first when starting Enbrel? I have done 2 injections and my ankle and leg pain are worse.

I'M A MALE 59 YEARS OLD BUT WITH A VERY ACTIVE LIFE STYLE. I;VE HAD RA FOR 25 YEARS, STARTING TAKING METHOTREXATE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO WITH PREDIZONE FROM TIME TO TIME. AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS.

Since it is a known risk, your doctor will know how to treat you, and may recommend discontinuing the medication for at least some time.

It's your baby and you don't have to let anyone come near if you don't want to but vaccines are a big deal and everyone won't have the same views as you on getting them. Maybe ask your husband to stress the importance of the situation to them and hope they change their minds. In the end it's their bodies and decision. You want that time to be special and not turn into a family feud if you turn his family away.
