I am not able to understand the cut off value and test value Please explain I had oral sex with condom 12 weeks before and mutual masturbation before 7 weeks.
Avatar n tn as i said about the report i got i have mention above the report was confusing for me as i got my result within an hour so it means it was rapid test and if it was a rapid test then y report show ELISA and WB result. What could make them to test ELISA and WB test?and if they were ELISA and WB test then how can i get report in hr only as ELISA test take min. of 5 days.
Avatar m tn A friend of mine took a random HIV test, the ELISA blood test at a diagnostic lab and the result came out positive. Completely aghast, my friend took a retest at the same lab and went to two other hospitals to get tested. One of the two hospitals conducted the ELISA on two separate kits, both these kits reported negative results. The other hospital too reported a negative result.
Avatar m tn Is the above Elisa test accurate and should I take the high positive as a definite diagnosis of HSV-1? ? Or would a WB test in another 2 months be more helpful in this case?
Avatar m tn Hi , is it possible to receive an elisa antibody/antigen test result within one hour. I was told it took days to get an accurate result from this type of test. If the elisa test was rushed and results were given in one hour, can i trust the results of this test. I believe they used the newer generation elisa test. Is it possible newer generation test results can be received in one hour, i was told by a doctor it is unlikely to be accurate. Pls give your advice.
Avatar m tn Take a 4th Generation test, which looks for Antigens and Antibodies at 28 days past your exposure for a conclusive result.
Avatar n tn Because i was confused that all guys say afte positive elisa, WB should be done.
Avatar f tn Because the lab does not know the exact medical history of the patient (as that is up to the doctor requesting the tests), they would always add comments to cover every single possibility. Because this test was an Elisa antibody test, they suggest confirmation in case the test has not been performed after the correct window period of about 12 weeks from possible exposure.
Avatar m tn My interpretation is #1 is the standard screening test (ELISA). If the test is positive then the western blot is done automatically. This is the standard testing for lyme that most non-lyme specialists order. I just wonder how much it costs if the test is negative and no further testing is done. It should be a lot less. The ELISA is not very reliable and misses a large percentage of lyme cases. #2 is the western blot in itself. I think this is what it means but I'm not sure.
Avatar m tn i have taken HIV ELISA test after exposure of 5 months it came negitive the lab report is SAMPLR RECEIVED DATE 09/01/2015 SAMPLE TYPE SERUM HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES BY EIA Test Description : HIV 1 & 2 Antibody TEST REPORT : NEGATIVE METHOD : ELISA O Interpretation Sample Reading 0.61 Cut off value 1.00 Positive >1.00 Negative <1.00 O NOTE Please Correlate Clinically can anyone please explain me the result.
Avatar m tn one is elisa and 2nd is cima. i carried out my two test with gap of 3 month with 1st test performed by elisa system and 2nd is cima system. and i found difference between their result?
Avatar f tn my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
Avatar m tn I got myself tested today in a big private hospital in Mumbai with a test called HIV Elisa test by a method called Enhanced Chemiluminescence test and the result was negative. The test report said that the test was capable of detecting both HIV-I and HIV-II antibodies. I have a slight issue here that I am hoping you can address.
Avatar n tn Dr. EWH, My girlfriend and I tested for hiv and my girlfriend got the result back today. The result says "negative" and in "reference range" column states "nonreactive". It says that test was "hiv 1/2 ABS /W RFLX CONFIRMATION". It also says hiv-1/hiv-2 ABS ELISA. Does that mean ELISA was done first and then confirmed with something else? Or does it mean that it was confirmed by another test because the result of ELISA wasn't good?
Avatar m tn Correction: I found out (on the next few pages of the report) that I also have been tested for the following: HSV 1Glycoprotein G Ab, Ig (ELISA) = Negative (0.31) HSV 2 Glycoprotein G Ab, Ig (ELISA) = Negative (0.09) Based from the thread here and judging on the unreliability of the combined tests, it looks like I don't have HSV 1 or HSV2. But why did my GP told me that I have a herpes? I appreciate your guidance/ interpretation on my results.
Avatar m tn i am from india . i had an exposure 4 years ago. last week i got an elisa test done. it came out to be negative. now an irrational fear is coming to my mind that the result might be wrong. is that possible . the place where i have got my tested my test done is a reputed lab and they gave me my report after one day only. do i need to get retested or can i continue my normal life.
Avatar m tn Of course ELISA test can be indeterminate. No an ELISA test is not that much different than a Rapid test. One takes a machine to process while the other doesn't.
