A friend of mine took a random HIV test, the ELISA blood test at a diagnostic lab and the result came out positive. Completely aghast, my friend took a retest at the same lab and went to two other hospitals to get tested. One of the two hospitals conducted the ELISA on two separate kits, both these kits reported negative results.The other hospital too reported a negative result.
I had a risk exposure with a unknon status CSW 3 months ago. After the 3 months I had done a HIV DUO Quick (p24 & abc) test in a private lab. The test result came out negetive. . HIV DUO Quick (p24 abc) test is a acqurate test at 3 months? But I did not done HIV 1&2 antibody ELISA Test. Need HIV 1&2 Anitbody (Elisa) to conclusive? Still I have skin rash, dry cough, white tongue and night sweat.

The first lab again was an IFA test, and just the HSV1 was positive. HSV was negative. On the second lab it was an ELISA test (the test sensitivity says 99% for HSV1 and 92% for HSV2) and it was negative on both. Although compared to the last month ELISA test, the values for HSV1 were a little bit higher this time (5.6 vs. 4.4 of a lower than 9 scale for negative).
I called both labs and told them the contradictory results. On the lab with positive results they retook the test.
There is no true difference, they are both antibody tests.
I had an unprotected oral sex with a s/w 4 weeks back. I got the HIV 1 & 2 - ELISA test today and the result came "Negative". Is this result conclusive enough to say that I am not infected? The lab assistant himself tells that this is not conclusive till 3 months! Is it so? Please let me know.
I have done HIV screen test- Elisa at central Lab. I would like to know the following details
It was HIV I and II screening test and result is non reactive.and HIV test Value is 0.388
The cut-off value is given as 0.533.
I am not able to understand the cut off value and test value Please explain

On advice of local pathological lab I underwent HIV test exactly 91 days after the exposure on 2nd April 2010. As far as I know, the tests for HIV are called ELISA, Western Blot or PCR DNA/RNA tests. But this lab conducted ELFA VIDAS DUO ULTRA test. The Result was NON REACTIVE.
Kindly inform:
1) How reliable is this test?
i m now confused because my all rapid test results were weak positive but lab based elisa was negative. sensitivity of lab elisa was 100% and specificity is 99.6%.these tests were made 6 weeks post exposure.
i also have one doubt. i had another anal exposure at 5 weeks ago. i used condom. i put my penis inside him and pulled out. when i look at the condom.i saw a whitish patch (white colour small area) on the condom. is it condom failure? can condom fail in this way?
my doctor is said to me to give pcr-rt (quantitative) test? what is pcr? I am very worried.
