Had 8 week HIV elisa last week negative. Doc is ordering more blood tests. Can you Get HHV8 and not get HIV/AIDS?. Is it possible to skip HIV and get AIDS directly? Would HHV-8 be what caused all my symptoms (fever/neck ach/night sweats/nightmares/nausea/tiredness? If I was coinfected with HHV-8, HIV would it take longer than 8 weeks to show on elisa test? Please help need more answers. The Dermatolgist had a wait and see attitude with my questions.
An Elisa test done post 3months mark after your initial exposure with no exposures in between will be conclusive about your status. Since you are in India. the guidelines is 6 months as per south Asian bodies, but u can absolutely trust any result thats post 3months mark. Also since u have said your encounters are post 8 months. u have covered the longest window period. Test is the only way to know your status, not symptoms.
At the same time I came down with diarrhea for few weeks. About 2 weeks later I experienced rash at neck and armpit. It is recovered now.

I have been tested 4 times total since january the first time I went to the health clinic the next time I went to a womens center and paid to have the results come back the next day all were negative so is there a differance in what people use cause every time i just asked to have an hiv aids test and thats what they said they gave me..
then next day, i tested HIV elisa positive, then retested positive and positive. without any HIV risk, no sex, no drags and other risk sience last negative 1.5 year.
The next day, i tested ELFA/VIDAS in different clinc, result was Negative, .07<.25,
Tthen my sample (positive) sent again to The ministery of Health, as HIV/AIDS department , centeral department of AIDS in my country, it is the last place the positive result should be sent .

if you are newly infected with HIV...you should know that! AIDS is later in the stage of infection when an HIV+ person becomes susceptible to opportunistic infections, and whose lab work indicates that they have progressed to "AIDS" classification.
There is a correlation between the Lymes reactions and HIV...but I am unversed in all that...hence why it is a good idea to f/u with an ID doctor. This is why WB's are done....to rule out...or confirm infection.
However, because of the slight chance that an initial test result might be falsely positive, when initial tests are positive, it is recommended that the positive test be confirmed with a second, unrelated test for HIV antibodies. You do not need a second, confirmatory test if your first test is negative.

i heard there are two situations people may get infected but will test hiv antibody negative even repeatly.
1. before 3 months or you can say before the window period
2. they were at AIDS time ,or late stage of HIV and dying.
but i find some terrible case , for example :
one 40 yearsold african woman tested mutiply and all antibody tests went negative. but she had some typical AIDS syptoms at that time.then dr asked her to do a PCR,came positive.
Dear doctor, Can HIV antibody be detected in last stage of AIDS patient by elisa test.One of my relative had several exposure in 9 years ago with prostitude when he was in a UN mission in africa. Some web site for example google books says antibody can not be detected at advanced stage of infection. I recently came across information that made me question the accuracy and validity of HIV testing. According to the information I came across HIV test don't test for HIV but rather for antibodies.
My question is: if this is the case then how accurate really are these tests? E.g, if someone contracted a viral disease such as chickenpox (which lasts a lifetime in the body) during their childhood wouldnt that mar their results (including viral load testing)?
The results came out Non-Reactive again by ELISA, It was a combo HIV/AIDS test, The Doctor said that I do not need Further HIV testing... Thanks everyone for providing valuble and much need information about HIV/AIDS in this Site.... I have learnt my lesson, and shall always be careful in Future.. Thanks.
Now I am really worried. I have tested for HIV test. My elisa test is postive and western blot is negative.I was tested 7 months after that sex episode. I have developed so much anxiety that i keep getting tested. My elisa keeps on coming positive and western blot is negative. last test was done after 1 year. 1. do you think I have tested too late that western blot is not able to detect antibodies.? I know that elisa test has some false positive results....2.
