If this is the case then if one for tested for rheumatoid arthritis with Elisa and it was reactive for further test should no RA disease would the doctor then ask for permission for more blood tests or would this result just then be ignored as they were not looking for HIV. I know one can only know there status with a HIV test and i do not want a risk assessment i just want to know if anyone knows anything on this matter as i cannot find anything on the web..

Can I take 2 Western Blot HIV tests and rely on them?
The site where I get my HIV testing from doesn't have the Elisa test as an option. I know this test usually comes first.
Instead I took 2 Western Blot tests for HIV and they were negative. Because I didn't take the Elisa, can I rely on the Western Blot results?

the lab person told me TriDot is a rapid test and i got result within 30 mins...and it is different from ELISA as i need to wait for 1-2 days to get my result incase he did a ELISA..

There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.
What I am most worried about is that we had a son about a year and a half ago, even though both my wife and I have tested negative for HIV is there still a chance we are positive? When my wife found it she was pregnant they had her do an HIV test and it was negative. Before she gave birth they had her do another one and she was negative. I took one about 3 weeks ago and it was negative. Is there a possibility that there are not enough HIV antibodies in our blood after 7 years of exposure?
hello, i had protected sex with an hiv positive girl (i just discovered), i had sex with her twice, but she gave me several oral sex, i saw some blood on my penis in one of them, from her mouth i think.. i have no symptoms untill now, i did Elisa test 52 days after 1st time and 20 days after last time and today it´s been 2 months since 1st time (the day i saw the blood) and 1 month after our last time.
Thigh looks wrinkle. No sores. aT 10 Weeks I took a Proviral DNA by PCR Test and Elisa Test negative. At 13 weeks, I took an Home Access test which I was HIV negative. For two weeks I had malaise, sore throat, heachache, nausea, joint pain, but still the rash.
I am thinking of doing another Test in 6 months because I believe Acyclovir could of alter a false negative. I was reading that in HIV postive women Acyclovir reduces the viral load in there vagnia.
Means if you had an exposure and tested 3 months post exposure, you don't have HIV.
I see - but then what is the difference between rapid oral and blood test ? If they are same and have same sensitivity/ accuracy - why do blood tests charge so much more and oral test are available for free ?
The doctor told me that my ELISA test was positive and so they sent my blood sample for an Antigen Western Blot test which came back negative. The doctor told me that 99,999% the Elisa test was false because of other factors that might affect the blood but he asked me to retest in one week.
Is it possible that I have contacted Hiv?
If so, how?
I used a condom and it didn't break. I also cannot have Hiv from previus relationships because I tested Hiv negative 9 months ago.
Dear Doc (and forum readers),
About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though.
I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).
