Avatar m tn would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.
Avatar m tn What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.
Avatar m tn I never experienced nightsweats and nightmares like you described with Lamictal. Like M, I experienced it with Effexor, only it was increased, I had taken myself completely off of it without my doctor knowing about it. I had incredibly vivid nightmares that were terrifying and, yes, I woke up with sweats. My doctor said I went through a common Effexor withdrawal, and I did feel better when I took my dose.
410475 tn?1262942367 i was on effexor for depression and bi-polar, for about 4 yrs. the first two were great. but, as with any drug, your tolerance builds up after awhile and you need your dose adjusted. my doctor had me on 300mg a day for a longtime. i believe that i was too medicated,( because he had me on wellbutrin also.) the only thing that i have bad to say about being on it, was the withdrawl from coming off of it. i was physically ill for a few weeks.
Avatar f tn i understand that it is much harder to get off paxil if i stay on that. i see dr. tomorrow and i want to stay on effexor and klonopin. paxil scares me. eventually maybe in 6 mos i will be healthy and past smoking and i dont want to be stuck on meds for years. had dep 7 yrs ago but not panic attacks. am drinking lots of water.
Avatar f tn I was put on effexor and Geodon for ptsd. They were working, put it seems they've stoped. I hate going to sleep. Its hard to be relaxed enough to fall asleep.
Avatar f tn Hello, thanks for taking time to read. I experienced tremendous trauma in 2012, I won't even list it because it would sound false. It really was a hell I wouldn't wish on anyone, and it was too much for me. 2014, another very significant trauma and I have done everything recommended or suggested. All kinds of MEDS, multiple inpatient treatment, support groups, outpatient therapy, volunteer work. Before I was always willing to try the next thing, and I did follow through.
Avatar f tn I am having severe anxiety attacks from going through one the court system from being abused. I think I may have PTSD. I have flashbacks and remember the incident vividly. I always feel like I could cry and at times I want my abuser back. I know I'm depressed. What is wrong with me? I need a medication that will help me not feel so over-emotional. Help?
Avatar n tn every now and then. Has anyone out there been on Effexor for this long? I so, did you change, wean yourself off or decide to stick with it?
Avatar n tn Effexor can raise blood pressure in some people. Are you being treated for the hypertension? Has your doctor mentioned whether Effexor might be counterindicated in someone with high blood pressure? I'm sure I don't have ADD, but I've experienced all of the symptoms you describe. I have PTSD and a history of anxiety and depression. When I'm feeling bad I can't concentrate and I jump from thing to thing or I just don't start anything at all.
Avatar f tn Well on welbutrin my anxity got very bad so I went to a walk in clinic and the Dr perscribed me effexor and a few XANAX to help while I wait for the Effoxor to work. I went to pick them up and could not afford the effexor. I dont want to get it if its going to hender my weight loss. He told me it helped people lose weight. From what I see on line that is not what people say. PLEASE give me your opinion. If I find out I dont want to risk gaining the weight back what do I do?
Avatar n tn You may need to have the dose changed up or down (with your doctor of course) Your doctor could add another anti-anxiety agent TO your Effexor. I have been on Effexor 13 years and my doctor added BuSpar to it-I have no anxiety unless I'm REALLY stressed out & that's more circumstantial. There is a list of many drugs used for anxiety on WebMd or Drugs.com.
Avatar f tn I have extreme PTSD and am bi-polar leaning toward depression. I have been on meds for years, and had to go into rehab years ago because I have a very addictive personality. The problem is, I am EXTREMELY anxious and have suffered anxiety attacks before and am afraid of just about everything.

190673 tn?1259203266 My anx. started nearly 2 decades ago at age of 12. I experienced a sudden fear caused by a huge noise/sound that made me depersonalized and completely physically numb for about 30 seconds. Then it lessened but never went away. I lived with it (suffered with it) for a few years then I saw a doc. He gave me an anti-depressant. Then I saw another and I was slowly getting better and better. Celexa did the best job for me. But in all these years I developed new symptoms.
Avatar f tn It seems like no one wants to sit down with me and help me find a way to manage all the physical symptoms of the drugs, withdrawing from the drugs and my PTSD. I used to run to help manage my insomnia and chronic pain but I started having problems with the ball of my foot about 6 months ago and haven't been able to run or even walk/hike much. I'm certainly feeling depressed but I think that, under the circumstances feeling depressed is normal.
Avatar f tn I have just been diagnosed with Depression/anxiety/phobia. I am having severe anxiety issues. I use .5 mg of Ativan for on an needed basis. Here is my question? How does Anxiety and Dperession work together? I don't get it? Also, This year I am having bouts of crying fits? I feel sad. I have never felt this way. Yes, I am now discovering my repressed memories are coming out too. It feels like my brain is detoxing. Is it normal to feel cloudiness without drugs, during a cycle of depression?
Avatar f tn m a 20 year old female who suffers anxiety and panic dissorder as well as depression and complex PTSD. I have had so many symptoms if anxiety and panic but for the past 2 weeks iv had this tingling/pressure in my head. Sometimes it moves to different spots in my head. This is very frustrating and hard to live with. I also have extreme fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and headaches. Iv had tests done that cane back clear. It's hard to believe that this severe tingling in my head is just anxiety.
Avatar f tn i have PTSD and i suffer from anxiety nightmares and flashbacks of what happen to me in the service also causes substance abuse i also have schizophrenia :)
Avatar m tn I have been taking effexor & minipress for several months, and then yesterday my psychiatrist ordered a urine test to "check my levels" of the medicine. I did not think anything of it, but my sister, who is a nurse in family practice, said there is no such thing as lab monitoring for either of these meds. She said these are not controlled substances and has never heard of a test to check levels of this kind of medicine. Has anyone else on here ever had such a test for these meds?
Avatar f tn i take geodon for schizophrenia trazadone is an anti-depressant i take zoloft which is a lot weaker i also have PTSD from the military and i was in combat when i served in the USAF :)
Avatar m tn I think kaylee2850 gave some good advice but I see it a little different. I don't believe you can compare cases of PTSD. The one constant is the effects, such as anxiety, anger, depression, etc. What may be traumatic to one person might not be all that traumatic to another. The cause of PTSD is what is different and it can be any event that one takes as traumatic. For instance, I've been diagnosed with PTSD and a sudden loud noise really gets to me.
190673 tn?1259203266 I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.
Avatar n tn I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.
