Effexor side effects eyes

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor side effects eyes

Avatar m tn Hi All, Ive been on Effexor XR for 5 weeks now (75mg) day and ive had constant dizzyness/dull ache between my eyes the whole time. Should these side effects last this long and should i expect them to go away soon??? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have been taking effexor for 3 weeks, and I have had the same side effects since around the third day on it. However, my body experiences this little twitches throughout the day as well. No one else seems to notice it, as they are small, quick twitches, but I must say it annoys me. The muscles in my arms and legs seem to just have a little spasm or jerk every now and then, in no apparent order. I find it usually happens when I am relaxed--sitting at a table, watching T.V.
Avatar n tn Although bilateral leg pains is not a common side effect, there are so many other possible side effects reported with Effexor, I would ask your doctor about cutting the dose in half to see what happens. Also, if you get off effexor, do it carefully.
Avatar n tn My sister takes Effexor for mild depression and the only side effect she seriously complains about is excessive sweating/ hot flashes! She said she wakes up in the middle of the night and her sheets are soaked and she feels like she's on fire! I guess everyones different, but I think it's listed as one of the side effects. I hope you find something that works!
Avatar n tn I had an almost immediate reaction to this, a negative reaction, I became so dizzy I couldn't move my eyes from side to side (or in any direction) without horrible vertigo. So--I went back to Effexor SR, 150 mg. instead of 75, once a day. This seemed to do a wonderful job until recently. Again the dizziness is back, the moodiness, all the yucky stuff. I would like to discontinue this med. to cleanse my system--or should I continue to try different drugs?
Avatar n tn After I'm on the 150 mg for several weeks, I'm cutting back a little more so I can determine the right dosage again that works for me with the least amount of side effects. Right now, I cannot sleep with this higher dose and am adjectated.
Avatar n tn I just thought I'd let everyone know, I was on Effexor XR for 7 years the side effects were horrible and the withdrawls were almost unbearable. But I went to a psychologist to help me get off of them, it took a year of tapering from 150mg to 75mg I was on 75 mg for 3 months and then tapered to 37.5 for a month .... then a month of every other day tapering on 37.5 ... the side effects come from you brain chemistry being completely thrown off..
Avatar n tn I just discontinued taking Effexor XR and it was the most difficult and painful thing I have ever done! The side effects for me were: increased depression, confusion, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, and on and on and on... I am so angry that the drug company (Wyeth) and the doctor didn't know what I was talking about! How can they not know? They do clinical trials. Just ridiculous! I signed the petition to have it reviewed by the FDA (I was about # 4,500, so I know I'm not alone).
Avatar n tn i have been taking effexor for about four years and i find the drug has made me a new person, but if i miss a dose i have severe withdrawls.it feels like i am living in hell.but when i get back on track i feel great.since i started taking these meds, i have put on 40 pounds and i eat very little.and if i try to wean my self down to a lower dose the side effects start all over again.my doctor told me i will probably be on this for the rest of my life.
Avatar n tn I am currently doing research for an upcoming book which deals with the side effects and withdrawals people have experienced from Effexor XR and other (like) anti-depressants. I am interested in receiving any information current or former users would like to share concerning their experiences with these drugs. Please email me @: beach-***@**** and thanks!
Avatar n tn Hello all Since it is 2:45 am and I am unable to sleep, I thought I would check the side effects of going off effexor and I am delighted to see that these are all normal side effects. I have felt "pregnant" and like my head is going in slow motion when I move from side to side. I was on 37.5mg for the last 6 months and I actually felt great but my life was calming down and I decided to see how I felt when I was off my drugs....
Avatar n tn I was told to take 10mg of Paxil for the first 4 days and then go to 20mg on the 5th day. For the first 4 days on the 10mg, I had some side effects such as only being able to sleep max 4 hours, feeling nauseous and bad headaches. I moved to the 20mg, and that was something out of this world! Was a very bad experience. I didn't manage to sleep all night, I vomited in the morning, terrible headaches, felt totally wired or something (or as I can imagine).
Avatar n tn Anyway, I'd really like to change to a Effexor plus Wellbutrin combo, hoping that each would help mitigate the other's undesirable side effects. Is this a reasonable option? And what kind of dosages would be indicated for each? I'd like to have some suggestions for when I go talk to my doctor.
Avatar n tn The headache specialist wanted me to hike up my Effexor dose to treat them, but when I said no to that he suggested that I switch to Savella which does NOT have the sexual side effects which Effexor has. He said that he went through terrible pain from stopping the Effexor. He has a gradual plan for me to stop the Effexor as I increase the Savella. BUT he said that if I felt like "I was going to die", to hike up the Effexor during the change over.

Avatar n tn it is possible its side effects from going off the meds, I had the terrible side effects from coming off effexor and they told me to wait it out, 6 weeks Ispent in the house, lost my job and everything, finally i put yself back on it and the side effects went away......you might be very sensitive to the pills like me and have to wean off more slowly...how did you wean off?
Avatar n tn While on effexor, my anxiety and depression diminished, but I was also experiencing some unwanted side effects. for one, if I ever missed a day, I would be completely disabled due to the horrible withdrawal symptoms. other problems like low libdo and confusion began to worry me. I went to my doctor and decided that it was time to discontinue the effexor treatment. Since then Ive been on an emotional rollercoaster with physical trama to add to the fun. Ive been taking the 37.
293157 tn?1285877039 Now the gabapentine twice a day makes me tired? does gabapentin have a side effect that effects you mouth...my teeth, gums.. etc..get so sore everyday for the past few days, not sure why. I though maybe one tooth, but the other parts of my mouth get sore as well? plus I'm so out of it, that I can't go outside... I'm so tired and can't seem to sit for long. I don't know if its the meds...cause the amount isn't that high... if not the meds...why is this happening?
Avatar n tn I am on effexor and have not had any side effects. I am taking 75. A small dosage but I was on Paxil and the side effects were horrible on it and everyone had the side effects. This drug has been banned in Europe and most I have talked too have had similar circumstances with this drug. I do agree drugs effect people differently. I have not had any side effects on effexor. My head is actually the clearest it has been in years. That is not to say that there are not any.
Avatar n tn Do this pranayam daily, twice a day, and the side effects of withdrawal will be reduced. The pranayam is very relaxing and you will notice the benefit in weeks. Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Avatar n tn many of us wonder if the side effects that effexor has caused will ever go away. some of the side effects are so severe and the withdrawals are unbearable. would like to know how you are doing? have you decreased or stopped yet.
Avatar f tn I have to get off this medication, recenlty my pharmacy made a mistake and did not give me the effexor then took two weeks to get it in for me by then I was vomiting, crying hysterically which made my doctor think i was a depresssed oerson needing the meds but it was not that it was side effects of the effexor casuing that, I shok I could not wlak a stright line, no driving at all, I felt like I had gone mad and did not want to to gthe Er becuase they might piut me in the insanity ward and tha
Avatar m tn The most important thing I tell folks is to weigh the risks, all meds, including Tylenol, have side effects and always talk to your doctor before you start a med. We as patients have to take responsibility as well which in turn makes us active participants in our own wellness.
Avatar f tn I only came off it because of the weight gain. But I don't care so much about it now. I have no side effects with Effexor, and my 150mg dose suits me. Prozac was really, REALLY bad for me. Never again. So you see, different drugs for different people. Effexor for me is great. I will not stop it again. All I can say is, we have to try different anti-depressants to find the one that suits us best. I have had bad reactions with others, but I don't with Effexor.
Avatar n tn The Lipitor and Xanax weren't that hard, no major side effects. But I was totally not prepared for the hell getting off Effexor. I applaud each and every one of you for trying to quit this thing. I think that if you have depression and anxiety, as I have had, that sometimes you just have to change your life. You can't just keep taking a pill. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have this feeling that I don't ever want to take another pill again, even if I drop dead. At least I will die with dignity.
Avatar n tn Actually I should just say I am stoping the medication cold turkey, since I am just not taking any pills at all each day. Yes, there are side effects. Are the side effects so severe that a person cannot tolerate them? Absolutely not. You need to tough it out, get this drug out of your system, and start exercising 5 times a week, especially cardiovascular exercise. Don't listen to all these doctors who tell you Effexor is the answer to your problems. It absolutely is not the answer.
308074 tn?1289690946 I don't have a thyroid and take synthroid and I also had Ovarian Cancer(no meds needed, surgery and monthly doctor visits) and a total hysterectom). I was on Effexor for a short time a few years ago and I can't remember side effects. I remember zoloft I felt spacey and on Paxil my eyes were HUGE and I ran miles.... They were giving me this stuff because of the chemical imbalance in my body. The Effexor I believe was good- I rested more, I think.
Avatar n tn When I shift my eyes in ANY direction, especially side to side, I get BIGTIME "Brain-bounce". I am mentally foggy and my husband says I look like I'm stoned. My memory has been very bad and I can't take loud noises. Lastnight, the nervous stomache started and I feel clingy and not myself. My eye sockets and eyes are terribly sore. I have a weird, dull headache. I started taking this medicine due to suffering from generalized anxiety and obsessive worrying.
