Avatar f tn I have been on effexor for years and don't feel the least spacy or lost, just normal.
410475 tn?1262942367 i was on effexor for depression and bi-polar, for about 4 yrs. the first two were great. but, as with any drug, your tolerance builds up after awhile and you need your dose adjusted. my doctor had me on 300mg a day for a longtime. i believe that i was too medicated,( because he had me on wellbutrin also.) the only thing that i have bad to say about being on it, was the withdrawl from coming off of it. i was physically ill for a few weeks.
Avatar n tn PTSD involves depression. PTSD is a diagnosis, as is depression. Those with PTSD also have depression. I would say "No"...PSTD is NOT a symptom of depression. Sufferers will also experience isolation, anxiety, and in your particular case...vivid hallucinations, nightmares, and psychotic episodes. Perhaps you should talk with your healthcare provider and try an anti hallucenogenic (sp?) to help curb your visions.
Avatar n tn I take 325 mg. of effexor daily and some xanax as needed. All for PTSD. My MD oroginally prescribed the effexor, but the psychiatrist doubled it and gave me more xanax.
Avatar f tn I am taking Clonazepam (klonopin) and Bupoprion (wellbutrin) prescribed by a Psychiatrist. I am also taking Ultram for pain in the chest bones. The Ultram also produces a calming effect. These are my primary meds. However I wish to go off all the meds but the withdrawal effects of klonopin are horrendous. When I run out of klonopin I use my mother's xanax to reduce the withdrawal. I want to quit all medications but I don't know in which order to do it.
Avatar f tn I was put on effexor and Geodon for ptsd. They were working, put it seems they've stoped. I hate going to sleep. Its hard to be relaxed enough to fall asleep.
Avatar m tn My doctor is switching me from Effexor to Lexapro. I was on 150 mg of effexor for 2-3 years and recently have been tapering off down to 50 mg. My doctor says I should start Lexapro now but I am scared to take it while taking Effexor but Effexor withdrawals are bothering me even though I am slowly tapering off. Is it safe to take SNRI (effexor) with SSRI (lexapro)? Anyone took it together?
Avatar f tn In the long run, none of them helped me for my PTSD, because it is not a chemical imbalance. And I needed to be able to think clearly in order to get THROUGH the problem, rather than spending the rest of my life dancing around it. I started weaning myself off the meds. It was HELL. Once you are addicted to a psych med, you have to withdraw from it. I went through months of feeling like the world was going "Flickity Flick" all the time, when I stopped the Effexor.
Avatar m tn What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.
Avatar f tn You sound like a pitch man for Effexor

Avatar n tn I was abused as a child for several yrs. and in my 20's was put on antidepressants to cope with severe mood swings , anxiety, etc. I have found that effexor xr to be helpful to calm me from outburst of anger but I stay at a too layed back level, no emotion I don't cry as often but never laugh etc. I have researched ADD and wonder if I have ADD. The symptoms are so similar.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lamictal for years for Bipolar Disorder. Just recently, I have been having really strange dreams, and at some point, it always turns into a nightmare. It doesn't always stay bad, but at some point during the night, I wake up sweating. And its not just an I'm hot sweating, its like I wake up with my clothes wet sweating. I'm usually not hot, but I have to kick off my blanket to try and get my body heat back down.
Avatar f tn I have extreme PTSD and am bi-polar leaning toward depression. I have been on meds for years, and had to go into rehab years ago because I have a very addictive personality. The problem is, I am EXTREMELY anxious and have suffered anxiety attacks before and am afraid of just about everything.
Avatar f tn What do you do when you are totally alone, suffer PTSD and there is nowhere to turn? If you read this, thank you in advance for any response.
717649 tn?1230744514 I'm not feeling well right now and so need to take soime meds. But incase I don't get back today I wanted to tell you I understand. You don;t sound nuts at all. I have PTSD and am in bed most days because of chronic pain. I go to pain managemen also. I do take Buspar and xanax but I've never taken effexor I take celexa and also ambien because of my night terrors and my fear of going to sleep. It's hard taking all those pills plus my pain meds that I need.
190673 tn?1259203266 I told him my problems. I thought I have paranoid personality but he disagrees. He thinks I have mild PTSD. As for my weird intrusive thoughts he thinks it is some OCD. Well if I saw him 2 years ago when it was severe he would perhaps call it extreme OCD or who knows what. Agrees that I have GAD. Here is the thing. I am hypochondriac also and skitzophrenia is one of my big fears. He knows that. YET HE PRESCRIBED ME SEROQUEL.
Avatar f tn Hi, 10 years is a long time for your brain to rely on a drug so it is having it's effect now you've gone to zero. You've done very well to wean down so slowly. Sometimes it seems an individual is going to feel the bad things regardless but you're on your way and I have to say the worst has got to be over. There's no time frame for each of us but certainly I would think only of a week or two from now for most to be OK again.
Avatar m tn I have been taking effexor & minipress for several months, and then yesterday my psychiatrist ordered a urine test to "check my levels" of the medicine. I did not think anything of it, but my sister, who is a nurse in family practice, said there is no such thing as lab monitoring for either of these meds. She said these are not controlled substances and has never heard of a test to check levels of this kind of medicine. Has anyone else on here ever had such a test for these meds?
Avatar f tn My husband has what was labeled on him for a long time as social phobia, also he has OCD. After doing some reading on it he realized that his problem isn't exactly social phobia, but avoidant personality disorder. Main difference being that he doesn't focus on himself in social situations, he is focused on analyzing everyone else's actions.
Avatar f tn m a 20 year old female who suffers anxiety and panic dissorder as well as depression and complex PTSD. I have had so many symptoms if anxiety and panic but for the past 2 weeks iv had this tingling/pressure in my head. Sometimes it moves to different spots in my head. This is very frustrating and hard to live with. I also have extreme fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and headaches. Iv had tests done that cane back clear. It's hard to believe that this severe tingling in my head is just anxiety.
Avatar n tn Since I have been in the Effexor - for about 9 months now - my life has changed and for the first time in probably 40 years, I am happy again! I know there are good and bad for each medication but this is my experience.
746058 tn?1248344665 Hi, My name is Lois (Groggyfroggy) I'm new here. My OBGYN also put me on Effexor for hot flashes and night sweats because I wasn't a candidate for hormone therapy and I'm going thru' menopause. I happen to have POTS, but wasn't put on the medication for the POTS. I became very sick after that with nausea, shakiness, and a most terrible moodiness. I had to be taken off the medication and it took quite a while to get out of my system.
429925 tn?1203905115 What is the maximum dosage for Effexor XR? Also, is it advisable to take with Lorazapham?
Avatar f tn My physician did not call in a temporary refill and I could not get any pills sent to me before next week so I had no choice but to withdraw suddenly. I have been without the Effexor for 5 days and I do feel horrible. I have not been out of the house and it is all I can do to wash the dishes and pick a few things up around the house. I too am suffering from dizziness, nausea, constipation, panic-like attacks, and now today I feel like I could cry all day.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taken this combo with Effexor to help with the insomnia? I am open to other suggestions for natural supplements to take with the effexor. It seems to help with the migraines so far. I had only 1 so far in the past 3 wks. Before that, the dr. put me on Celexa and it caused 3 day migraines every week.
