Avatar n tn Protein won't necessarily be your friend. It depends on the protein. The reason athletes love it is because they work out a lot and turn the protein into muscle. They also tend to eat lean meat. Eating fatty meat will cause weight gain, but in the form of fat, but high protein diets in the short run will cause weight loss, though it's not healthy to eat too much protein.
Avatar f tn snack on something low calorie like carrot sticks if you are worried. needing to snack is completely normal and recommended- if you are just doing small snacks instead of big meals then you won't gain extra weight.

Avatar f tn You have plenty of time to gain weight. Most women lose or don't gain weight at 15 weeks. Don't force weight gain unless you seriously have to.
4377655 tn?1354246709 Consuming more calories than you burn will help in gaining weight. Try to gain weight in a healthy and steady way. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. You may consult a nutritionist and get a diet chart made which will provide you with adequate calories in a healthy way. There can be many causes which can prevent a person from gaining weight. The common causes are hyperthyroidism, diabetes, severe anemia, certain STDs, worm infestation, and certain liver disorders.
Avatar n tn Milk isn't good for you anyway, so that's no loss, and it doesn't really add weight all that much unless you eat a ton of it. But here's the thing -- unless you have a physiological condition that prevents you from absorbing the food you eat, and that is a condition that exists, eating more of anything will help you gain weight. The more food you eat that metabolizes quickly into sugar or contains high fat will likely help you to gain weight.
Avatar f tn I can say next time I will get down to a healthy weight. So my advice to you is just eat healthy and stay up on your prenatal visits.
Avatar f tn The way to put on weight in a healthy fashion is to continue to eat a healthy diet but just to eat more of it than you are now (meaning, now when you are losing weight). In the rare case where the issue is that the person is so active that he is burning off all of his food, it might also help to be slightly less active. But for most people who lose weight not on purpose, having an excessive activity level is not the problem.

Avatar n tn t think I have been eating more than normal and I try to eat healthy food. I certainly eat more healthy than i used too. I have been really struggling to exercise every day not because I don't want to, but because my depression makes it difficult for me. But maybe this is the scare I need to get moving.
1083673 tn?1388888638 I think that if you're not gaining weight yet, you should feel lucky. You WILL gain weight, it's inevitable. Although I have heard of and seen girls who I thought were about 4 months pregnant, come to find out they were 8 months...and they had healthy normal sized babies! Where they hid their babies in their small bodies, i have no idea!!! Some girls just don't gain that much weight but their babies are just fine.
Avatar f tn I really don't think there is a way to not gain weight..and I really don't think it's safe to try and not gain weight..just eat healthy and walk and do regular exercise..
Avatar f tn 29 weeks. 11kgs. I put on a lot quite early on: 3-4 kgs in the first 6 weeks. I was right weight for height and quite active with a very healthy diet but my energy levels depleted with pregnancy and I'm finding I want to eat foods I would not generally eat ever - bread, pasta and even sugary snacks! I'm finding it hard to stay healthy during pregnancy...
877402 tn?1241569071 Just take it slow and try to eat healthy. I wish I weight that much, and I try to eat alot of salad and tuna but for some reason I still eat late at night. I wish you the best!
Avatar f tn Since I started out overweight Im worried about gaining to much weight want but baby is doing great and dr says everything is ok with me so far. I dont eat perfect by any means but I try to eat as healthy as I can with some indulgences (usually ice cream), but I did start working out at the gym early in my pregnancy which I think is helping me not gain too fast despite my not perfect eating. As long as dr says you and baby are doing well I would try not to worry.
1007532 tn?1332767926 Starting out overweight I have been advised not to gain more than 20lbs, I'm already up to 14 lbs, don't know how the heck I'm going to keep the weight gain to 6lbs in the next 14 weeks. I think the most important thing is to eat healthily and keep active, as long as we don't eat excessively or eat junk food I guess or bodies will gain what they need to to grow healthy babies.
Avatar f tn Hi luvencasa, I suspect you are asking for a healthy way to gain weight since according to your profile you stay pretty active and eat healthy foods (which is great!). I've never been in your position.
Avatar f tn I was slightly underweight prior to becoming pregnant, which I heard may make you gain more weight than someone else who started at a normal weight prior to becoming pregnant. My OB told me I gained more weight than he would have hoped which was very disappointing to me. I don't know about anyone else but I have such a huge appetite all the time! I can't go more than an hr-2 hrs without eating or else I feel like crap.
1123420 tn?1350561158 I'm 21 weeks and have gained 18lbs. Depends on the person. I was really skinny before I got pregnant so my body needed the weight gain. I eat healthy and am always hungry! The only weight I've gained in breasts, bum and belly. As long as your eating healthy and getting nutrients it doesn't matter the weight gain.
Avatar f tn You need to eat regularly. I'm thinking you have a common problem, body issues. Feeling like throwing up when you eat, not having an appetite -- these are signs of an eating disorder. Ever seen a therapist to see why you started thinking and acting this way?
Avatar f tn BTW, dietary fat has been shown to NOT cause weight gain for those trying to gain weight. It is just as hard to gain weight if you are underweight as it is to lose weight if you are overweight!
Avatar f tn But I am so happy my baby is healthy so I feel like a brat obsessing over my weight! I just do not want to be a whale afterwards! I want to bounceback fast!
