Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with an addictive personality as well as a dual diagnosis (depression and drug addiction). I used meth and Loracets daily for 6 years. These 2 demons turned out to be my drug's of choice after trying most everything out there. Financially it was killing me and destroying my family life. I'm not sure why, because my husband is the best, that I had an affair with someone 15 yrs younger than I am. This went on for 6 months.
Avatar f tn It can be dangerous and I have seen a high relapse ratio. I know of one person who is successful so far after rapid detox. they got home f eelinh great. the next day the anxiety and depression hit hard. He had lots of support when he got out. I feel the same about rehab, it's a good first step, but you need to have more than that. What dose of methadone are you taking now? Have you tapered down? No matter what, it takes time and work to get off methadone and stay off it.

7540527 tn?1401187758 s not possible to quit from. Even if 50% of the users of any given drug relapse, every one of those people can make the choice after they do so to get back on the horse and continue their journey towards being clean. Most experts agree that nicotine is one of the hardest drugs to quit. And in the USA, we've seen massive numbers of people who successfully do just that.

452063 tn?1324074916 These struggles are generally associated with the feelings of depression, anger, resentment, self pity and the realization of where their drug addiction or alcoholism has taken them. Upon experiencing this phenomenon for the first time, the addict or alcoholic is understandably excited. They begin to believe they now “hold the key” to their recovery. This is where the seed for relapse is planted. They begin to believe more in themselves than in the process they have been following.
1135275 tn?1586565652 ll hear from. I relapsed on my drug of choice in March and have been actively using it since that time. The past month or two, I have been attempting to navigate the mental health world in a new city and get the resource I need to deal with that portion. I've also confided my struggle in a longtime friend who has been helping me taper, but I think my mental health struggles and the reality of addiction have taken a toll on him and perhaps even our friendship.
724819 tn?1298925776 You made it 6 months before and you will again. Relapses are so tough, the guilt and shame that follow and the fact we just gave our addiction some life makes it even worse. This is the time to reach out like your doing and make changes necessary to keep this from happening again. Are you getting any type of aftercare and if not are you willing? I used to think after a few months clean I was home free, but that is what got me in trouble in the past.
877402 tn?1241569071 Physical Dependence and Detox Narcotic addiction leads to real changes in the nerves of the brain. Prescription drug addiction hijacks the circuits that deal with mood and "reward" -- feeling good for helpful behaviors and bad for harmful ones. In addition, long-term prescription drug abuse affects virtually all the systems in the body. Cutting off the supply abruptly leads to opioid withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi! In my opinion, neither is true. Are you working a program? Are you ready to quit? You need to get with your Sub doctor on this. Sub should be tapered slowly, over time. Do your research on tapering Sub. A taper can go pretty well until you get down to small amounts. You will have withdrawals. The severity is directly proportionate to the drug you WERE taking, the amount, and length of time. If you taper very slowly to tiny amounts of Sub it may go much better for you.
Avatar n tn I am hoping to reach others who are suffering from, or have a family member/friend suffering from Ultram addiction: I lost my brother on July 9, 2008....he committed suicide. Why? ULTRAM!!!! Yes, my brother suffered with his addiction to Ultram for 12+ years. He tried to get help several times, but was unsuccessful. 1888430 tn?1322319949 Hi all! I am new to the forum. I am not in no way new to the addiction of opiates. I wished I could say i was but am not. 2 years ago I had an addiction to the lortab, percocet family. Taking 15-20 10's a day. It almost took my family away from me. I have a wonderful husband who didnt know anything about the addiction until he started looking into our money situation. He then pressured me so hard that I finally confessed, even though he already knew.

Avatar n tn Although I understand addiction (a little) and know relapse is common. Im lost right now. We made so much progress and it just got thrown away in one night. I'm so scared for him. I know the idea of tough love and I believe in it, but at this moment he is probably very high with other junkies and I fear for him. How ever do I deal with this situation ? I'm so lost right now. Hope someone can help me.
Avatar m tn I am sorry to hear you relapsed and hope you pick yourself back up. Relapse is tough and what most people don't think about is that the relapse happens before you pick up the drug. It is more mental than anything. I don't know what was going on with you (that is something you should really work on) but the fact that you took a pill when you didn't even know what it was tells me that you were well on your way (mentally) already.
