Avatar n tn Urologist put me on 10 days of Doxycycline. I took the complete dosage and the day after my last dose, when I masturbated, my semen was thick, and yellow. Almost like mucus. Is this a normal side effect of the medication ? She put me on it due to urethritis and what she felt was prostatitis... It just seemed strange the thickness and color but I know medications can do things like that. Thanks.
Avatar n tn gave me 10 day 2 dosage of doxycycline just in case. Swab test for chlamydia was positive and I finished remainder of antiobiotics. Since then I have still felt a mild discomfort (especially after prolonged sitting). I went back in Mid Oct to get HIV test & swab test again. Negative result for chlamydia,HIV, and the dr. even examined my clear fluid under microscope for trich. Dr. gave me 1 dosage of antiobiotic (methadizole however you spell it) just in case for trich infection.
Avatar m tn (Terrible burning pain and slight discharge) I once again went in to see my doctor and he said that the Chlamydia had most likely not been eradicated the first time and proceeded to put me on another course of Doxycycline, this one being for 10 days, same dosage. Within about 5 days, my symptoms once again ceased and I was feeling pretty well and continued to take the medication. By day 7, the burning urethral pain came back with a vengeance.
Avatar m tn I have been using doxycycline, I have had trouble urinating still I had oral sex about 3 months ago. First my penis was going numb and then it went away.
Avatar m tn After describing to her my symptoms, she felt that I may have prostatitis. I was given doxycycline for the prostate infection. Previous to going to see the doctor, I had received unprotected sex from a professional in Europe. Now, almost a year after all of this has happened, I am starting to feel discomfort in my urethra once again. (As a side note, I DO sit a lot with my job.) Although I know that this is just probably a case of a re-occurence of my prostatitis, I do have a question.
Avatar m tn t often treat it and your urologist undoubtedly has much more experience with prostatitis than I do. Most prostatitis is not due to any bacteria that could be detected by culture, so I see no problem with not doing other culture tests. I suggest you follow your urologist's advice. That will end this thread. Take care.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with prostatitis, but I have taken Sulfameth, doxycycline, and ciprofloxacin and still having problems. I will start to feel better evertime I take a different antibotic but then systoms come back. Swollen testis, back pain, swollen in my lower stomach area, and problems going to the bathroom. My PSA is low.
Avatar m tn She treated me with 1 cefixime pill and one other pill that I cannot remember while also taking doxycycline 100mg for 10 days twice daily (June 2016 at this point). Once all 10 days of the antibiotics were done I felt better and had no testicle irritation or discomfort for the next 8 months. Recently I noticed my testicle feeling weird January 2017 with mild aching that felt familiar to my previous experience with "Epididymitis".

Avatar m tn Doctors Put me on Doxycycline for a month or so and symptoms never really went away for about 6 agonizing months. Finally, in about July of 2008 my symptoms had subsided greatly. It is now Nov 2010 and symptoms come and go every once in a while but it is very manageable and almost a nonfactor until lately.
Avatar f tn This sounds a lot like prostatitis to me - uncomfortable sitting, discomfort in the testicular area & when ejaculating. Could also possibly be epididimytis, some of the symptoms are similar. I think this is what Klamidia was talking about. Your reg Dr should be able to diagnose this - prbly will check the prostate & may ask for a urine sample.
Avatar n tn Hi Antibiotic therapy is given for acute/chronic bacterial Prostatitis, but it is also used in non bacterial Prostatitis. Which type of Prostatitis do you have? The duration of antibiotic therapy depends upon the type of prostatitis; for acute it may be for few weeks, chronic is for 6-12 weeks. You can discuss with your doctor about other antibiotics such as doxycycline, sulfa drugs or ofloxacin.
Avatar n tn I'm a 54 year old male and have had similar experience with both doxycycline and cipro. The first time I had a prostititis attack cipro didn't work and doxycycline helped me after 2 full weeks. 18 months later I'm having another bout, this time its the other way around - Doxycycline didn't help and cipro seems to be working after 2 weeks. Are you taking Flomax too? My prostititis problems seemed to start when I went on Flomax.
Avatar m tn I was taking doxycycline for 28 days 100 mg 2 times a day FYI.
Avatar m tn I recieved oral sex 8 weeks ago and I had the flu and then really sharp penis pain. My penis went numb and was in pain, then the doctor prescribed me DOXYCYCLINE, and the pain was better. I have been tested for stds and they all came back negative. but I still have some penis pain though, I got off of the med a couple of days ago. What could this be any clues.
Avatar n tn The following occurred in the following order: 1. Received unprotected oral sex. 2. After worrying excessively for 3 weeks, begin feeling pain in urethra, with no discharge. (Had not ruled out at time that it was in my head.) 3. Went to STD clinic. Full range of tests, all negative. 4. Symptoms persist. Return to clinic 1-2 weeks later. They took urethral swab, and 5-10 minutes later came back with diagnosis of NGU.
Avatar n tn Symptoms persisted for several days. Called dr. back. He called in a prescription for doxycycline for my husband and he started taking it. Never had any relief of symptoms. I started having redness, swelling, burning pain in my vagina and vulva. DR. did a vaginal swab culture. It came back with heavy growth of Gardnerella. STD tests negative for gonorrhea, chlamydia, trich, herpes, and HPV. Took one dose of metrogel.
Avatar n tn I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar m tn m unsure of a connection between trich and prostatitis (or any STDs for that matter) - however, I do know that chronic prostatitis can have a variety of causes, many non-bacterial. I would seeing your doctor again regarding your chronic burning/pain and get a second opinion if you are not satisfied with your treatment.
Avatar m tn Oh and whatever you decide, treating your prostatitis is more important than testing. You had no risk.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms seem to be consistent with prostatitis. Prostatitis can lead to recurrent episodes of these symptoms and the best treatment is extended course of antibiotics and medications such as Advil or other NSAIDS. There are many causes of prostatitis. It is well known that numerous types bacteria can cause Prostatitis but it is often difficult to determine the exact type. There are other cause but the distinction is less important as they are treated the same.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me what STDs can be treated with Doxycycline? Can you list all of them please? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I am 33 years old and have been diagnosed and treated twice with penicillin for bacterial prostatitis ( strep viridans ), yet I can't seem to shake some of the symptoms. I get burning sensations around the scrotum and occasional discomfort of the urethra. I have had an ultrasound of the prostate which checked out fine and have been tested for chlamydia and gonorhea, which both came back negative.
