I was on Doxy 100mg for about a month for antimalarial reasons, saw a slight improvement in my skin, and was then prescribed Doxy 50mg for acne indefinitely. I’ve been on this for about 3 weeks.
I have definitely noticed fewer pimples, but I still have the odd one here and there. I’ve also been using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I think has worked wonders.
I would like to go off Doxy 50mg to see if it is the Doxy or the Benzoyl which has helped my skin.
I've been taking doxycycline for acne on my back for a few weeks (50 mg twice daily). The doxycycline was prescribed for inflamed pimples on my back, which would be sore and red. Each individual pimple would go away on its own but I would generally have a couple new ones every week.
I had been having acid reflux before I started taking the doxycycline, and it seems to be worse now. Yesterday, I rolled over on my stomach while in bed and my esophagus was burned by acid.
I have horrible acne and was prescribed doxycycline. I take orthrotricyclen, does anyone know if they interfere?
I'm currently taking Doxycycline for anti-malaria reasons. I was wondering if it's unsafe to take for 5 consecutive months?

I have suffered from acne for a few years now and last May I went to a dermatologist to help treat it. I was prescribed doxycycline, an antibiotic also used in the treatment of STD's ( I believe.) A few weeks later I experienced a rash on my inner thigh and scrotum where it touches my inner thigh on both sides. This lasted for a few weeks but eventually subsided with regular cleaning and showering and trying not to get too sweaty.
I've had the same clutter of acne on my check for about 2 years now. It looks like acne but I've taken everything you can think of, doxycycline, accuzone and now I've started facials but it still doesn't go away. There are days where it is less appearant but has never gone away in this 2 year period. My dermatologist thinks it's acne but my Estetitian thinks it might be dermatitis(which I've had in my arms when I was little).
What should I do??
The acne worsened throughout the year into cystic acne on the cheeks when I moved overseas. I lived overseas for a year, then moved back to the states, where all my acne disappeared for two months. It returned again slowly, starting out with a small rash (which went away with Desonide Cream .05%), then milia/whiteheads all over my cheeks, and then red pimples with white pus spreading from my cheeks to my chin now.
I have been looking on the internet and I have found doxy is prescribed mostly for acne. So can it also be used for folliculitis? My situation is I took doxy for 11 days and then stopped for 3 days because it seemed to get a lot worse. My pharmacist convined me to go back on it because it takes a while to workand it gets worse before it gets better. Been on it for 24 days again now and it is still pretty bad, not as bad as when I first took it. Is this normal? How long will it take to clear up?
I have been on doxycycline an antibiotic for about 5 days and i seem to be feeling very anxious and panic like. Does anyone know if this can cause these symptoms. I am also on 25mg of zoloft. Thanks for any help you can give me.
The vet prescribed doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. My dog seems fine without any obvious symptoms. Can we just give him the doxycycline 100mg once a day instead because the medication may cause nausea/vomiting. Also after 3 weeks medication, how do you he is treated ? Any advice !
One thing to mention, I’ve been taking doxycycline 100mg every other day for acne (and someone’s skipping a few days), it’s a very low dose since it’s every other day. I was wondering maybe if I start taking it every day it might solve my problem? I think I read that doxycycline is often taken for these types of issues but maybe what I’ve been taking is just too low of a dose for this type of problem.
I’m a 26 year old male and have had acne since I was 12. I have tried so many different medications and treatments but none seem to work long-term and afternoon 14 years of this I am very frustrated and just don’t know what to do. Many of the medications seem to help for a couple of months but then my acne always flares back up.
i told them my symptoms and they examined and tested me and gave me a 7 days dose of doxycycline for having a NGU. (Non gonococcal urithiritis)
After seven days of dose with doxycycline, i was feeling better with no symptoms. And they gave me results next week that i was negative on gonorhea, chlamydia, syphilis and hiv. I went home back with a piece of mind and i promised myself that i will not do this again.
As i am single, so its natural that i got sexual urge again.

First of all thank you for taking the time to answer my question as I am exeriencing some anxiety and stress about my current situation.
I had both protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex 2 days ago with an new partner and am having worries I may have contracted a STD. At the moment I have no symptoms but decided to schedule a STD check in the next couple of days to ensure its detection.
I got tested at 7 months with a fourth generation test. The result was negative. I was taking doxycycline for my acne at the time. I want to know if there’s any chance my hiv test was affected by a 200mg dose? I ask because doxycycline also treats STDs.
But 10 days back i also started taking doxycycline hyclate for my acne treatment.I am worried now and want to know about my chances og getting pregnant this month?

In the mean time, I would like to ask a few follow up questions. As a dermatological practitioner, what is the general perception of a skin reaction (such as a mild skin rash on the forehead) that occurs immediately after taking a month's worth of antibiotics?
Doctor, do you think these patches of folliculitis could be from food allergy, like some facial acne. Also i have taken doxycycline before and that took it away for the most part. would starting another regiment of that help clear the infection?
Had oral sex with a woman I met on adult website now have swollen sublingual area and swollen lymph node could this be sti also was on 100 Doxycycline hylate a day for acne for awhile would this prevent any thing? The swelling began after two and half weeks but also had my teeth cleaned could that cause a sublingual infection?
The one I have now gave me doxycycline for 30 days and some shampoo and topicals. He also injected steroids or something in the areas he saw flareups. I saw no improvement from that. Only from the antibiotics. I am now out of the medicine and it's all coming back again. I'm desperate for a cure. I've run out of options. He gave me a prescription of a contraceptive and APO-DOXY (Doxycycline Hyclate Capsules USP) The facial acne has been gone now for months and my skin is getting clearer every day of the marks. However the ones on my shoulders have remained the same.
