A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine.
About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
I’m experiencing the exact same thing. I️ took doxy for acne for four weeks, and I’m losing so much hair. Dermatologist denied that it was the doxy. I️ work out five days a week, I’m 7percebt body fat, and now I’m losing my hair because of this freaking drug. I’m getting a lawyer, so heartbroken over this crap. I’ve bern off of it for ten weeks, and no change in hair loss. The dermatologist doesn’t want to see me, and they laugh to think it’s because of the doxy.

I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections.

but then i started on cephlexin oral 500 mg...was on it for 20 days...it was almost gone...was happy for a few days...then i ran out of medication and my doc. perscribed doxycycl...and it began to slowly come back...i told him this.. but hes like theres nothing i can do for you...as i was schedualed to see a dermatologist...the derm says i have folliculitus caused by staph...and there is not be.migh guessing at what it cure only treatment...
Continue with the Yaz. This is a good pill for acne-prone skin as it is not based on testosterone like some others. It will take about 3 months until it's effect is visible.
An excellent product is Rosaliac micellar gel by La Roche-Posay which is for skin prone to redness.
Metrogel is quite strong. It is normal to have an initial outbreak but if your skin does not start to improve or you feel you are having a bad reaction, speek to your doctor about changing products.
HI, I'm a 21 year old guy, I've been with acne for the last 8 years. I went to many specialist and dermatologists through these years and I'm still with the problem. I did alot of creams and tried lots of treatments (such as Blue LED), minaxen pills and even Decutan. Decutan was the most effective. My weight is 76kg. My first course of Decutan was about 2 years ago with a dosage of 40 mg/day. Then acne appeared again few months later after the course was finished.
The areas start out very much like a hive (red, blotchy, extremely itchy skin), but, unlike hives, end up leaving a red papule with the occasional white center that stick around for days to weeks. To provide some context, this all started after seeking treatment for mild acne (whiteheads on my forehead and extremely oily skin) about 3 years ago. The dermatologist I saw then prescribed Ziana gel, which worked relatively well (never completely cleared the whitehead problem, though it helped).

I was diagnosed with the same thing and mine wasn't all that noticeable. I had about 6-8 little dots/zits around my mouth and lips. The doctor at my university said I had a yest infection.( I was on antibotics a lot in august and I just started taking more for my acne) He told me its normal for my skin to tear during a yeast infection and looked at the rashes and the entire penis, then came to the conclusion I had no herpes. He told me to use monostat.

ve only read that acne can be caused by hypothyroidism and that thyroid replacement will help acne. My problem is that my acne started AFTER starting thyroid. The acne is definitely cyclical...I am a 36 year old female still menstruating. The acne is most noticeable right after my period and goes away almost completely for the two weeks after ovulation. This pattern doesn't seem to fit premenstrual acne.

My daughter has been on Accutane for 2 months. While her acne is mild, we put her on this due to my hx of cystic acne at age 22 which was completely responsive to accutane. My question is , she has not seen much change . She is still breaking out, and states zits are larger than in past, but do reslve more quickly She was on accutane once in past with immediate response in first month. Dr just increased dosage. What can we expect in terms of response?
Anyone get acne after startung thyroid medication? Im on armour thyroid... 30mg. I started it august 6th and broke out within a week but that breakout subsided till a few weeks later i started breaking out again...i concieved 3 weeks after starting the meds so thought it was pregnancy. Then when increasing my dosage in the second trimedter my acnr got way worse. Skin so oily and cystic big ones! Then it calmed down when i decreased back down to 30mg...
I've been taking levothyroxine for the past 10 years and I still have acne. Also, I don't have Hashimotos according to my doctor. My hormone levels were checked and I was told I had high levels of testosterone so was put on Spironolactone for facial hair and acne. It did clear up my acne a little bit, but it didn't do anything for the hair so I stopped taking it as recommended by my doctor.
Hi there, my sun stated on ruacutane 10mg and gradually moved up to 50mg, he is on 50mg now for one week. His face looks worse than ever and his neck is so full of pimples he can barely move his head. His dermatologist said it will take a couple of weeks to set in, how long is a couple of weeks and do we yust have to wait, and will it start clearing up? He yust started high school and is very consious about his face.
