A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine.
About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
I’m experiencing the exact same thing. I️ took doxy for acne for four weeks, and I’m losing so much hair. Dermatologist denied that it was the doxy. I️ work out five days a week, I’m 7percebt body fat, and now I’m losing my hair because of this freaking drug. I’m getting a lawyer, so heartbroken over this crap. I’ve bern off of it for ten weeks, and no change in hair loss. The dermatologist doesn’t want to see me, and they laugh to think it’s because of the doxy.

I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections.

but then i started on cephlexin oral 500 mg...was on it for 20 days...it was almost gone...was happy for a few days...then i ran out of medication and my doc. perscribed doxycycl...and it began to slowly come back...i told him this.. but hes like theres nothing i can do for you...as i was schedualed to see a dermatologist...the derm says i have folliculitus caused by staph...and there is not be.migh guessing at what it cure only treatment...
Continue with the Yaz. This is a good pill for acne-prone skin as it is not based on testosterone like some others. It will take about 3 months until it's effect is visible.
An excellent product is Rosaliac micellar gel by La Roche-Posay which is for skin prone to redness.
Metrogel is quite strong. It is normal to have an initial outbreak but if your skin does not start to improve or you feel you are having a bad reaction, speek to your doctor about changing products.
The areas start out very much like a hive (red, blotchy, extremely itchy skin), but, unlike hives, end up leaving a red papule with the occasional white center that stick around for days to weeks. To provide some context, this all started after seeking treatment for mild acne (whiteheads on my forehead and extremely oily skin) about 3 years ago. I was diagnosed with the same thing and mine wasn't all that noticeable. I had about 6-8 little dots/zits around my mouth and lips. Most people said it looked like I just had a couple zits, but I knew it was something more since I don't get zits like this, especially on my lips. The doctor at my university said I had a yest infection.( I was on antibotics a lot in august and I just started taking more for my acne) He told me its normal for my skin to tear during a yeast infection and looked at the rashes and the entire penis, then came to the conclusion I had no herpes. He told me to use monostat.
m worried about that too. I have been on Doryx for almost two months for acne and wondering if that has anything to do with it.
Sorry to ramble on but this is just so frustrating, its preventing me from being social and going out, I just want to have clear skin. I hate how it will go away and come back all the time. Is this perioral Dermatitis? Rosacea? My skin is extremely sensitive and kind of pale so a lot of blemishes are noticable. What is the best line of action for this?
The burning had long subsided and I engaged in intercourse with my partner, who 2 days later found out she tested positive for chlamydia. I had been off of the Doryx for about a week when I found this out and went straight back to the doctor to receive treatment for chlamydia infection. I was treated this time with doxycycline 100mg bid X 7d. 9 days later I was feeling ok and engaged in intercourse but the next day my right testicle was pretty tender feeling and my scrotum was very droopy.
( is there any good skin product that really does work at getting rid of acne, dark spots, bit still make your skin smooth?? Btw I have sensitive skin && some acne products make my skin dry :( please help?
I get it on my chest, back and face I have went to a derm since I was 18 but it never seemed to really help and I felt like since my acne was mild they never really cared. When I get acne it lasts for multiple weeks or months which is why its so agonizing especially cause afterwards I am left with post acne marks that can last up to a year. It has totally messed up my self confidence and has made me totally insecure.
A common treatment for cystic acne is Isotretinoin, which cures most acne in about 90% of patients. In sever cases a course of oral antibiotics are also recommended.

I have had continuing problems with acne and cysts on my buttocks area for approximately 15 years.
