doryx

1142540 tn?1261368153 Hundreds of people have blogged and complained about how the acne drug; Doryx, is linked to losing huge amounts of hair on the scalp. I'm experiencing the same problem. had very thick coarse and pretty hair. Now it's becoming thin stringy and nappy. I am freaking out big time and really sad. I'm 22 years old and my dermatologist has had me on this drug for a couple years and at first this did not happen, now it comes out in clumps and I shed everywhere.
Avatar n tn A few years ago I had a horrible case of acne and was put on the Doryx pill for 3 weeks, wash with Brevoxyl 2x day, morning Tazorac topical and evening Duac topical. This combination cleared up all of my acne and dark spots in a month !!! So after two months I weened myself off of the topicals. Everything was fine. About 2 years later, I had another bad breakout. I have really oily skin, lots of white and blackheads and acne scarring (dark spots) resulted from these pimples.
Avatar n tn I am 32 years old and have been prescribed Doryx and a topical acne medication for slight facial and back acne. I have been taking the medication 5-6 weeks and for the past week or so I am noticying hair loss. (roughly double the normal amount of hair I would loose in a day.) My hair is noticably thinning. Could this be a side effect of the medication I am taking? Has anyone else experienced this? On a side note, my skin is now completely clear.
Avatar n tn I’m experiencing the exact same thing. I️ took doxy for acne for four weeks, and I’m losing so much hair. Dermatologist denied that it was the doxy. I️ work out five days a week, I’m 7percebt body fat, and now I’m losing my hair because of this freaking drug. I’m getting a lawyer, so heartbroken over this crap. I’ve bern off of it for ten weeks, and no change in hair loss. The dermatologist doesn’t want to see me, and they laugh to think it’s because of the doxy.
Avatar f tn Several factors are usually considered to cause acne such as diet, stress, genetic, dirt hormonal imbalances, cosmetics, work-related and drugs. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar m tn Hello, I planned on getting STD tested in a few weeks but just completed a ZPACK (azithromycin) for a sinus infection and my dermatologist has put me on 100 mg doryx (doxycycline) for acne. Other then the HIV test should I go ahead and get tested for gono, syph, chla? The reason I ask is that from what I am reading on this forum, often times those antibiotics would clear up those infections. Thank you. This has been a very helpful and informative forum.

Avatar m tn (Note) I am also taking an antibiotic from my Dermatologist since March (Doryx) for my acne, and I remember the medicine causing somewhat stomach uneasiness, so is that maybe the cause? Please help me I'm terrified!!!
Avatar n tn I am 25 (F) with a lot of acne problem on my face. i even did my hormonal test which hv shown normal results. i have tried everything else but nothing has help. i m getting married in 4 months. should i still consider hormonal treatment or go on accutane?
Avatar f tn Continue with the Yaz. This is a good pill for acne-prone skin as it is not based on testosterone like some others. It will take about 3 months until it's effect is visible. An excellent product is Rosaliac micellar gel by La Roche-Posay which is for skin prone to redness. Metrogel is quite strong. It is normal to have an initial outbreak but if your skin does not start to improve or you feel you are having a bad reaction, speek to your doctor about changing products.
1138687 tn?1548643978 I have had lyme symptoms for more than two years , i was already taking doxy 100 mg / day since last one month for acne , now i doubled the dose hoping to kill any lyme bacteria.
Avatar f tn So, I had to fill out a questionaire with a million questions before I see an RE at the end of the month. One of the questions was about acne, and whether I have it or not. What does having acne mean? (I've heard getting acne can be a sign of something, I just can't remember what) Lately, I've been having so many breakouts, and today noticed I had some back acne. Gross! I never had acne before.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Any acne medication takes time to act and it is important to stick to particular regime for significant improvement. You should wash your face with a nonirritating, pH-balanced cleanser to decrease inflammation. Avoid scrubbing the face. Do not pop or pick at pimples. A correct nutritional balance and skin care will be helpful. Drink plenty of water every day. Take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Have a balanced diet rich in vitamin A, zinc and rich in multivitamins.
Avatar f tn Anyways, I went to my doctor multiple times in a desperate attempt to find a pill or medication that could clear my acne, and was even considering Accutane during that bout of acne last year (doc said no because I was on antidepressants at the time). I've tried everything from clindamycin to minocyclin to tretinoin to bactrim (which gave me a rash and high fever, turns out I'm allergic to it) to birth control pills... to no avail.

Avatar f tn I start taking this and it finally help with my terrible acne. I have acne in my back, face and chest. Some its really deep and leave marks everywhere. Go to a dermatologis, and try different treatments. Good luck!!!
Avatar m tn Are you watching your diet-getting lots of water, fruit, veggies? Have you tried different facial cleaners/soaps?
Avatar f tn Tea tree Oil is the best natural treatment for acne most times but must be used consistantly for a period of 2 weeks to see any results. Hormonal changes, stress etc can cause the acne but it should start to clear with Tea Tree Oil Facewash or from a health food store. Aloe Vera (cut from the plant) is also great for acne. I swear by Aloe Vera (fresh from the plant) for all skin treatments including sunburn, stings etc.
Avatar m tn I had been prescribed a supplement for the treatment of acne and the salts in that supplement contain myo -inositol, D-Chiron Inositol, Chromium and Vitamin D3 and I have been taking these for 3 months now. I haven't been diagnosed with any PCOS or hormonal imbalance in my reports. Is it safe to take these supplements without any side effects as i read on internet these supplements are used for PCOS treatment mainly.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 22 year old female who suffered from bulimia for almost 2 years. Over the past 12 months I have been in recovery (dramatically reduced episodes from daily to monthly) , and over the past 2-3 months I have been completely bulimia free. During my bulimia I lost my periods completely and it is only since I started recovering 12 months ago that they returned.
Avatar f tn Oh welcome to the club. Sorry my face so awful till 10 or 11 weeks that was unreal. I'm 34 and still having adult acne on top of hormonal acne. They can't give you too much stuff like meds for it right now. You gotta hold on and later it should get better. After I delivered my 2nd baby my face was awful again. Yeah ... hormonal craziness. But I use tea tree oil pads off of amazon to clean my face with. Very natural and it does help to reduce inflammation.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to see if anyone has a good acne remedy safe for pregnancy. Any over the counter cleaners/creams that have worked for you? Please share, thank you!
Avatar n tn A doctor will be able to determine if you are indeed the right candidate for BC pills to control acne or for your periods. Do not start them all by yourself for these reasons, it may backfire. Please consult a gynecologist for your periods and dermatologist for your skin. all the best.
1388445 tn?1289267388 Hello, Acne after the age of 30 or more is referred to as Adult Acne. They occur due to hormonal imbalance at this age. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face.
Avatar n tn m curious why more studies have not been conducted to study the correlation between phentermine and acne? Acne is not listed as a possible side effect of phentermine, but phentermine is considered a methamphetamine; methamphetamines are known to causes acne. I am a biology teacher and am frustrated that medical professionals are not confirming the overwhelming reports of acne being associated with phentermine. Is it a conspiracy????
Avatar n tn I am having the same problem as the person above, however, I have saw a dermatologist and am now using glytone, benzacline, and tezaran cream. Neither seem to be working. As the person above has stated, I still break out every month around the time that my cycle is supposed to start. The bumps are very small, appear to be whiteheads and appear around my jawline, the right and left side of my face, forehead, etc. Is there anything I can do to prevent my face from breaking out.
Avatar n tn I'm an 18 yr old female, relatively healthy, and in about the beginning of may I decided to try to take Vitex to try to balance my hormones. I've had irregular periods since I hit puberty, my period can skip months and it's never ever regular. I've also suffered from mild hormonal acne. I was taking Vitex for a month as well as DIM for a little bit but it blew up my face and made everything worse than better.
