148588 tn?1465778809 For example, Gilead’s own Stribild, a costly new four-in-one combo treatment for HIV/AIDS, is $80 per pill. At $1,000 per pill, Sovaldi costs 1,100% more than Stribild, the most-expensive AIDS combo drug on the market. In addition, Gilead is charging a higher price for this drug even though the cost to produce it is small. According to industry reports, Gilead produces Sovaldi for approximately $1.00 per gram (with only 10 to 30 grams needed to successfully treat patients with Hepatitis C).
Avatar f tn Just wondering if I am giving my dog the correct medicine. I have a small tan pill that has the marking WW112 on the back and nothing else. Is this doxycycline?
Avatar m tn I saw this yesterday, printed it out and have read it several times. And I'll probably have to read it several more before I can completely wrap my head around it. The good news, as I see it, is the clarity it brings to the subject of actual cost of new medications to payers. "The $1000 dollar pill" or the "$1125 pill" has gotten so much play in the media. (Doctors aren't immune to this nor are many who work in the insurance industry.
Avatar f tn He woke up during the nt with his throat hurting and kinda burning. All day yesterday he said it felt like the pill was stuck in his throat (but knows it isn't still) and had a burning and bothersome feeling. I read last nt that the antibiotic he is on, Doxycycline Hyclate has this happen a lot if you do not drink a lot of water with it AND sit upright for 30 min after, neither which he did the other night. I read that it irritates the esophagus when this haopens.
Avatar f tn Sorry I don't have Kaiser health insurance, maybe someone else here does, but those prices sound about right. Those are your "co-pay costs", the "actual cost" is thousands of dollars per month as you have heard. I had Blue Cross of California during treatment and my co-pay cost were similar to the prices you quoted.
Avatar f tn The drug turns out to be $50+ per pill so I am collecting 4 weeks worth one week at a time every 25 days. I consider this a ridiculous necessity: it's $22 for a week's worth with the insurance coverage, $317 without. Fortunately this is a drug I can wait to try and not something I needed immediately, since $1300 out of pocket is absurd!
Avatar n tn unfortunately i was on vacation and had trouble taking the doses exactly 12 hours apart, however i did take 2 doses per day except for one pill which i threw up. while on the medication the discharge stopped... 2 weeks after treatment it has returned and i am now wondering if i should go back for a second treatment or if this may not even be chlamydia.
Avatar f tn Everything is relative-- but yes, that is a large dose. Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day. The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day.
Avatar m tn So again 3 weeks later I went to my family doctor and tested positive for chlamydia so I was treated with doxycycline (2 pills per day for 5). My symptoms still persisted but eased off a little (less dripping and burning) so 4 days after I completed my treatment my family doctor prescribed me levoquin (1 pill per day for 21 days). I'm currently on my 7th day and the symptoms have come back stronger.
Avatar n tn I took one Cipro pill on 1/30 and 7 days of doxycycline (2 per day 100 mg). As of today, the test results are still not back (Planned Parenthood must use the slowest possible test facilities). I have not had any sexual contact since 1/28 except with myself. I am still experiencing discomfort in the tip of my penis, and today that has turned into an itching sensation. One more thing, I have not had a discharge that I can detect anyway. What do you think this could be?

Avatar f tn Currently, I am on 1000 Amoxicillian 2x per week and 500 Mg. Biaxin twice per day. When I first started my treatment, for the first 2-3 weeks, I misread the directions and was only taking 500mg Amoxicillian 2x per day and the 500 Mg Biaxin twice per day. Your post about the levels of doxy was very interesting though and I can see why you are questioning your dosage. I am wondering if Dr. S was giving you a smaller dose just to get the lyme activated for your upcoming blood test.
Avatar f tn I was given doxycycline to treat a head cold after 4 days of treatment i was starting to have some side effects eg. acid reflux, loss of appetite, nausea, and a few more. Avatar m tn , That in itself might be irritating the situation more. In my impatience, I have taken doxycycline hyclate that was in my household. [my son's prescription that he couldn't take due to some mild adverse conditions] This is in a100mg pill that is current date. I have taken 2x100mg day 1, and 1x100mg a day for three days now. I am planning to go an additional 7 days at 1 per day. My questions are these: Is this Chlamydia, something else or just over stressing?
779797 tn?1263618235 Yes, I took one 100 mg doxycycline h pill and woke up so dizzy that I couldn't go to work. I'm 20 hrs into the first pill and still very dizzy. No temp or other symptoms. Maybe slight headache. Meds were for an undiagnosed bump over my ankle and fore prevention in case of infection. Was told to take one more and stop out symptoms persist. I don't think so. This has been awful.
Avatar f tn About 3 weeks back I was experiencing some on and off irregular spotting and mild lower abdominal pain so I decided to make a GYNO appointment due to me having a pretty regular cycle and been on the pill for a couple years.
Avatar f tn Hello! Clomid is relatively inexpensive. I think it's about $60 or so per month. The HSG shot is also $60 or so. IUI should cost ~$300.00. The other costs will be associated with blood tests and ultrasounds, though somehow my RE billed all that through insurance under PCOS. It started costing me quite a bit of money when I did an injectible cycle. That was a flat rate of $1300, plus $300 for the IUI, plus another $1200 or so for the medication. Ouch.
Avatar f tn script cost was $92.00...for 30 pills. / about $4.00 per pill by script....cost for single pill was almost $7.00 per pill....almost half again for not getting full script from Walgreens.........................read the fine print....
Avatar m tn Now regarding herpes, if someone suspects herpes exposure, if I were to start on Valtrex within 24 hours, would this stop the virus from spreading or in other words kill it as so it cant spread any further. Same goes for taking Doxycycline stop all bacterials in there tracks prior to manifestation.
Avatar m tn From my personal experience, I can tell you it cost about USD 2800 per dose, back in Kerala, India. If i remember right, the bottle said INR 130,000. Yes, an insane price, one which makes no sense. I wish you well, good luck.
Avatar f tn i pay 300 per month in copays for treatment. Each injectable is 100 per month and I'm on 3. 700 is pretty steep but that's the way things are going in healthcare. A year ago my co pay on neupogen was 45 a month.
Avatar m tn 00 plus the 200mcg of copegas was $6.00 per pill. So with that in mind 1 shot per week and 1200mcg of ribavirin it costs about $852.00 per week time 48 weeks comes to $40896.00 just for the meds. GSDgirl - I'm on a clinical trial right now and they pay me $25.00 per visit and the Tests, Pegasys, Copegas and PI is free. Anything required outside of the trial I have to pay for like rescues and stuff. I did have to fill out a tax form so I guess I'll get a 1099 at the end of the year.
