Avatar f tn My derm advised me to seek laser hair removal, but now I am worried that laser hair removal will just make matters worse, which I just cannot handle. He said that laser hair removal is superior to electrolysis, but stories like this tell otherwise. I read that IPL damages darker skin tones because it does not do a good job in differentiating melanin in hair follicles and melanin in skin, so it damages the surrounding skin. Did all of you ladies have IPL performed on your skin?
Avatar m tn Laser acne scar removal is one treatment option for shallow scars from acne. It does not work as well on deep scars. In laser surgery for acne scars, a hand-held laser is used to burn off the scarred skin cells. Fresh new skin cells then replace the burned-off ones.
Avatar n tn Rockoff, I am an older primary care physician who has been exclusively practicing primary skin care for five years. I do laser hair removal, photofacial rejuvenation, Acne care, and a number of other primary skin care services. I have a good relationship with the areas Dermatologists and create many referrals for them. At present I am using the Clearlight from Lumenis to treat Acne. My experience with the light suggests it has been oversold and hyped by the company.
Avatar f tn I have had acne issues for about 3 years now because i am allergic to something in the water where i am at school. I have purchased a water filter and the acne had gone away dramatically, but now i have severe blemishes on my face. At first i was using a product called Ambi and Crusaders soap and face cream that are skin bleaching creams. They both work well, but they lighten up my entire face rather than just evening my skin tone so now my face is visibly lighter than the rest of my body.
948349 tn?1294383837 I also believe that home laser hair removal kits will help you with your acne if your acne is causes by ingrown hairs. I'm going to be purchasing one within a month which is a bit steep in price at 500 dollars, but I think it's well worth it. I have ingrown hairs on my neck, and sometimes I also get acne on my neck. For men and shaving... avoid a close shave and shave in the direction of the hair follicles growth rather than against it.
Avatar n tn I have also developed over the years, hair around my nipples, tiny little hairs in between my breasts, a snail trail and hair in the small of my back. I have periodical acne, at times too severe to wear makeup to work. I am so suffer headaches/migraines regularly along with excessive sweating. All these things have developed over time.
Avatar n tn I believe it must have happened when they first shaved my face (standard procedure for laser hair removal)- yet the shaving opened all the little acne bumps and must have allowed it to spread. Someone mentioned diabetes and menstral cycle problems. I have very irregular periods and have been diagnosed with " PCOS " (a pre-diabetic stage). I know my facial hair is rooted to this problem, yet I do not know how to fix it.
948349 tn?1294383837 Lol, i feel guilty for suggesting it, but it does work for acne. But it's only a temporary fix with long-term health consequences. And premature wrinkling. If you go on Anti-biotic s... this too is only a temporary solution to your acne, it will kill the bacteria in your pores, but it also disturbs and kills the natural internal microflora inside your digestive tract...

Avatar n tn Hey girl. I'm 18 and have had the same problems you have since I was 12 or so. Words of advice: Do not shave! I did when I was 13 and have regret it ever since. Its gotten so bad I'm looking at laser hair removal. As for the stretch marks I have then and so does my sister. I'm 5'7" and she's 5'11" (but she's only 16.) She had very dark deep red/pink scars on her sides and legs and mine were similar.
Avatar f tn in 2004 i had a laser facial hair removal treatment that didnt work at all. actually the hair got only worst and it left me with black spots that wont go untill now. and the worst part is i tried all the possibles ways of hair removal that doesnt get my skin to irritate and i couldnt find anything. the result: dark spots resulting from the laser treatment, spots from acne, and spots from irritated skin after every hair removal procedure.
162948 tn?1205256292 I had the mirena in for about 13 months & had it removed end of august to try to get pregnant. I had thought it was more immediate. I found out it can take 3-6 months for your cycle to return. my husband and I are pretty bummed because we would have removed it earlier (or never had it put in). Anyway, I bled a few days after removal (probably due to the removal) & then nothing until a couple days of brown spotting at the beginning of this month.
485259 tn?1519050626 Here's my own dose of what i learned... I had open surgery and was in the hospital 4 days. It's good to have someone to help you wipe your ***. After you feel good enough to do that yourself, you're ready to go home. I actually had my hubby get me a "reachy thingy" to put butt wipes on the end of. Wiping sucks when you have a big ole "happy smile" incision across your abdomen! But, I'm 5 weeks post op, and it does get better.
Avatar n tn There is laser hair removal...a girl I work with had her lip done and loves it. I havent heard anyone complain about the laser hair removal. Usually you go in for a couple treatments and either the hair is very light and unnoticable or theres none at all. As for the pimples you should see a dermatologist. I went to one when I was a teenager and they gave me Retin-A and minocyline and it cleared my face up. Cetaphil is also a very good cleanser and I use it everyday.
Avatar n tn A mild corticosteroid cream like dermacort will also help. Also you can go in for laser hair removal which causes permanent reduction of hair and does not cause folliculitis also. Please consult a good cosmetologist/dermatologist for that. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn If there are any skin rashes, then apply Neosporin cream and go in for laser hair removal instead. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn I was told that once the hair folical is activated, it does not go away. I would have to get laser hair removal done. I hope that this helps you. Good luck!
990728 tn?1249345134 You can also take some over the counter anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen after waxing. However, the best method of painless hair removal is by laser treatment.I would advise you to consult a dermatologist/cosmetologist and discuss this option with him. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn They do not seem to be spreading. Diagnosis was acne or rash due to soap but we have ruled those out. The only treatment seems to be 30% hydrogen peroxide. The bumps are itchy. We tried Benzoil peroxide, neosporin and lotrimin with no results. We like to exchange back rubs but its not fun to feel all the bumps and the itching is bothersome. We have a medium distance photo and some pics taken with a digital microscope. It looks like the hair follicles are the location of the problem.
Avatar f tn If you really are seeking for a long-term or permanent process, you could always look into laser removal. Just be careful because there is always the chance of something going wrong. My cousin used to shave her arms until the hair on top became super thick and she just wanted to get rid of it. She went in for laser surgery and they burned her skin - now she has a horrible white scar on the top of her arm.
Avatar n tn In this case, the surgeon will remove excess scar tissue, and reposition the incision so that it heals in a less visible pattern. This scar removal surgery is usually done under local or general anesthesia in the doctor's office. Vit E creams are supposed to lighten scars, so you could apply them directly on the scar, but it may take e long time for results to show, if at all.
Avatar n tn I am also considering laser hair removal for her, as she is becoming sensative to this issue, and I think she is too young to be concerned about shaving. Would the laser hair removal be safe for a youngster? What do you think about all this? Thank you for your input.
Avatar n tn I am seeing the doctor next week to get a referral to a dermatologist and if not laser removal, I will bear the side effects of Acutane to not go through the hell of them spreading all over my face like last time. I hope this helps you and others on this thread.
Avatar m tn shtml Some stubborn cases of folliculitis have been responsive to laser-assisted hair removal. This process uses a laser to destroy the follicle. This reduces the scarring that results from folliculitis. Let us know if you need any other information and consult a skin specialist if the lesion is persistent. Regards.
Avatar n tn I get it all time and really have to exfoliate a lot, there are red dots that usually itch and are inflammed. I think laser hair removal is the only option to reduce the hair, but that is expensive and I doubt there are many studies that allow you to get it for free. I still am learning about this and am I trying to find anyone that has a similar condition to mine, but no luck and from all the observing and locker rooms I have been and travels. I have never found anyone with the same thing.
363243 tn?1331037450 This is an ongoing problem and I think the only options that will completely remove the hair is electrolysis and laser, both of which are expensive, and the laser hair removal can be tricky with dark skin. I completely understand how you feel and I'm here for you when you get frustrated. If you learn anything let me know and I'll do the same. Take care.
Avatar m tn I have hypopigmentation from laser hair removal on my legs it has been 3 months did the ginger work for you? I have been so stressed out also.
1346294 tn?1300181539 Other treatment options include electrical cautery, surgical removal, Carbon dioxide laser treatment and electrodesiccation.
