Avatar f tn I am currently on the hcg injections from the Native Healing Ways clinic. Does anyone have any recipes for this 500 calorie diet? The information that the clinic has provided does list a few recipes but I would like to expand a bit as I am becoming board with current food choices. Also, I am mostly a vegetarian but eat some fish. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I would check with the American Heart Association and the American Diabetic Association. They have cookbooks that have recipes that are both healthy and tasty.
Avatar f tn Hello. Just a question, what can I feed my diabetic min-pin that is home cooked? She will not eat any kind of dog food, this is how she got the pancreatitis that caused the diabetes. My vet is of no help, she said that if she won't eat the RX dog foods then just give her white meat chicken, boiled only and brocolli or green beans. That's it and I know that my dog is not getting enough nutrients from this diet. She was diagnosed in May of 2006 at the age of 5.
Avatar f tn Just confirmed I have gd and its not a game I have to stop eating sugar and I've been winging off of salt my head is hurting so bad today and it ***** just thought is share that anyone know any good recipes I'm not suppose to eat anything white or wheat...
Avatar f tn Hello my name is Anna & I'm new to this app, I have already told a friend about it, anyway I love doing meal planning but still isn't the best at it, as our food budget has changed a lot, so anyone know how to feed a family of 7 on a smaller budget & still eat healthy, I am also looking for low sugar recipes as me & my hubby are diabetic & I don't like the fake sugar stuff. I love crockpot cooking, I love desserts, I look forward to all the responses.
Avatar f tn Absolutely no tomatoes, corn, peas, or raw veggies. Same for fruit - canned or well cooked and peeled. I am also diabetic, so things like pasta, breads, rice and other "white" foods are out for me, but would probably be okay for you. I can almost always eat soups. When you make it just peel everything, cook everything well, and puree it when it's done. It seems to help fill me up and provides a good amount of nutrients.
Avatar n tn I hate lettuce but who knew, I love broccoli slaw, or that new power blend slaw which includes raw brussel sprouts. Milk? Skim milk is not your friend-it has added sugars. Half and Half or Whipping cream are much better choices-you can dilute with water if worried about the cholesterol without adding sugar. Beer is not your friend-there are other alchohols with far less carbs.
274158 tn?1276350787 If money is a consideration, there are plenty of dog food recipes available on the internet. It may be cheaper to just make your own if you have the time. Great topic, fourpaws. I'm curious as well to hear how other folks deal with feeding and nutrition.
1550026 tn?1299339682 Hi Jennifer, I have Hashimoto's but have also gotten into Insulin Resisitance and Metabolic syndrome. I am an RN so I tried the traditional medical path first. After 3 Endocrinologists, I finally found a "functional medicine" doc. She is an M.D. but medical and surgical solutions are not her first choice for treatment. I did the micronutrient testing and discovered extremely low Bioitin levels which accounted for massive hair loss.

Avatar n tn Another good seasoner is sesame oil. You need very little as it packs a pretty good punch. It is excellent on broccoli and I will add it instead of the Worcestershire sauce to my homemade sauce if I want an oriental taste. I would say we eat chicken or turkey for about 90% of our meals now. There is a website called Davita that has some tasty recipes. The chicken enchaladas are really good.
Avatar n tn So, anyone trying to lose weight...give it a try. There's some delicious low fat/low cholesterol recipes on-line.
Avatar n tn This is for anyone out there who might have information regarding gallbladder removal in senior citizens. I have a neighbor who is 78 years old, he is diabetic, has had blood pressure, arthritis and problems with reflux from time to time. He has had the usual tests for gallbladder problems and the ultra sound showed thickening of the walls, and his HIDA scan was 34%.
Avatar n tn I do not eat broccoli or cauliflower even if doc says I can, as it wasn't on the original protocol from Pounds and Inches. I do not cheat on this diet, because it would be a huge waste of my money and time. I also check my level of ketosis with a keto-stix every time I pee, so I know if eating a fruit is too many carbs for me, and will occasionally skip a fruit since I am not hungry and replace with more greens. I don't eat late at night.
Avatar n tn In the past 10 years I have lost nearly 30 lbs from adult onsset allergies. I nearly went nuts from hunger and near fainting spells and paranoia.
Avatar m tn Even if you want to lose weight, you still need the right type of foods to eat so that your body gets all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients your body requires to function and to stay healthy. Have a look at the WeightWatchers web site. You will find some healthy recipes on line. You are not drinking enough water and there have been no fresh vegetables and fruit eaten over the last 2 days. It is no wonder that you are having a digestive problem and getting blocked up.
280891 tn?1261016650 Barnabus Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey. Mr. Kenney was originally referred to the nephrologist by his endocrinologist (diabetic specialist) at the Joslin Clinic because of kidney damage that resulted from poorly controlled diabetes (very high glucose readings) in spite of maximum medical management. In fact, Jim was taking a total of 175 units of insulin per day when he came in to my office for the first time in January.
Avatar f tn Well, as a result of being so big, I am now diabetic. I lost 45 lbs. prior to being diagnosed with diabetes - I was diagnosed & immediately put on insulin (a hormone) and gained 15 lbs in ONE week - so my net loss was only 30 lbs. So I'm now down to a manageable weight however, I want to lose another 20 lbs. or so but I have yet to lose weight by myself.
Avatar n tn Along with the injections I was eating very much like a diabetic. Low fat, low carb and minimal sugars. While I was taking the B12 I was losing 15 - 25 lbs a month. I decided to continue eating the same and stop getting B12 injections and my weight loss slowed considerably and my energy levels decreased. I have been told there is no medical reason why B12 helps weight loss but for me it really worked well and I am about to go back on it again.
Avatar n tn I do remember the anus being a bit itchy as well. But basically it is the labia. No STD, just a diabetic. Which I thought was the answer to the problem. But I really don't believe so. I can definately agree with the chapped lips cuts as well. I use anti itch powder, just a little relief though. I do believe I have vaginal dryness and I am sure the powder don't help that at all.
Avatar n tn I am very prone to bacterial and fungal infections, and it has to to with my body chemistry/ph(prediabetic/hypoglycemic). My mother who is Type 2 Diabetic, experinced these tears along with yeast infections and athletes foot infections all through her 30's and 40's until her diabetes was diagnosed and she got her levels under control.
