Avatar f tn I am currently on the hcg injections from the Native Healing Ways clinic. Does anyone have any recipes for this 500 calorie diet? The information that the clinic has provided does list a few recipes but I would like to expand a bit as I am becoming board with current food choices. Also, I am mostly a vegetarian but eat some fish. Thanks!
1666434 tn?1325265950 I thought it might be helpful if we made a thread that shared some of your favorite diabetic safe recipes. This can just be something you make yourself all the time or a recipe you converted to be safe.
Avatar n tn hypoglycemic since I was a kid. I'm non-diabetic and they are unsure of the true cause of my hypoglycemia... though they think that it has to do with several genetic factors. I'm here because I'm hoping someone can answer some questions for me because my hypoglycemia has been really severe this year... I can't say a day has passed without me feeling some sort of major hypoglycemic symptom- to the point where I keep missing classes because I'm simply too sick to go!
Avatar n tn Though I also have problems that seem to be from blood sugar levels being too high after eating possibly from high carb meals (pasta, potatoes) and definitely after eating any sugary items. As I am not a diabetic that I am aware of so I was looking into the hypo/hyper glycemias but all the information I have found would suggest that you either have high BS or low BS, but not really both. I seem to have problems with both?
Avatar n tn Does anyone have quick food or snack ideas for traveling?
Avatar f tn If you have a diabetic nutritionist available go see one for advice on portion sizes, recipes, and types of diabetic foods available in your area. Go to your local pharmacy/drug store or Walmart or Walgreens or CVC and purchase a good home glucose test meter. Read the instructions carefully. In order for you to grasp which foods affect your glucose you'll need to test before each meal and 2-3 hours after the meal.
Avatar f tn Just confirmed I have gd and its not a game I have to stop eating sugar and I've been winging off of salt my head is hurting so bad today and it ***** just thought is share that anyone know any good recipes I'm not suppose to eat anything white or wheat...
Avatar n tn (It really is a shame that the official national Diabetes Associations throughout the world don't offer dynamic guidance beyond mere blanket recommendations suited to the general population, which supposedly address the concerns of both the diabetic-in-denial and the diabetic that takes things seriously) Thankyou.
Avatar f tn I was terrified to eat anything because I was afraid of how it would affect my baby. Once I met with a diabetic expert and a dietician I felt more then 100% better. She explained it with more detail and explained how it affects myself and my baby. She also helped me with a meal plan, a grocery list, and gave me tons of recipes. What matters is the total carbohydrates! I kept looking at the sugar... which is important too!
572651 tn?1531002957 A quiet week ahead for me hopefully after an emotional rollercoaster last week as I celebrated my 5 month anniversary of MS ( only 2 mths official dx). Today I visited my friendly Chiropractor for my fortnightly session. Unfortunately, I have had to drop this to a once a month session as I have reached my insurance limit. Tomorrow I visit the Physiotherapist who is going to do a check up after a fall about a month ago and also develop a strength and exercise program for me.
1975145 tn?1419913236 I have been told I am pre diabetic and my numbers seems to keep climbing. I do not think the food I eat now is that bad and I don't eat much at all really and usually only 2 times a day. I will eat anything but fish. Please if you would be so kind as to list some foods to and not to eat would be most appreciated.
850033 tn?1239137014 190 sister(14 years old):130 me : 222! I am gonna check tomorrow morning again and see what the number is. 369861 tn?1306279286 The 5-6 small meals should help keep your blood sugars more stable. You say "More protein than starches". You do need carbs but try to go for the complex carbs that take longer to break down and simple carbs like sugar. Fruits and veggies both have fiber (complex carb), plus there's whole wheat bread, oatmeal, cereals, etc.
175915 tn?1189759422 ) I lost 15lbs in 6 weeks and to be honest, I only followed the diet for breakfast, lunch and snacks... then I tried to just eat a sensible dinner (or if it wasn't sensible, I tried to eat a small portion). Good luck!
370181 tn?1428180348 My dad only managed to lose a stone and keep it off but it wasn't enough he hates salad and porridge and doesn't do enough exercise He does however eat very healthily boiled egg for breakfast low fat spread wholemeal bread meat and veg and apples . 269786 tn?1243797307 200mcg 2-3 times a day is recommended. If you happen to be a non-insulin dependent diabetic zinc might also help, but if you're on insulin the zinc is already in insulin. Type 2 diabetics tend to be low in zinc and can have sugar craving due to this, however, I am not positive how that might affect the non diabetic population yet.
Avatar n tn I guess I'll be eating a lot of egg whites for breakfast! Is there a limit to the amount (i.e. do the egg whites count toward the 5 servings of meat/protein every day that you're allowed)? THANKS!
Avatar f tn Also try looking up diabetic friendly recipe ideas and recipes from the sneaky chief. They may give you ideas for your picky eaters. As far as fresh fruits and veggies go, it's possible to freeze the left overs. (Which depending on season may be better veggies and cheaper unit price.) If you get veggies fresh you can blanch them, by boiling them in water for a few minutes, draining them, then freezing them. You should be able to find the times and procedure online for that.
547836 tn?1302836432 any suggestions for routine foods or simple recipes that could save me from this hunger would be graciously appreciated.
Avatar m tn yes, american charts are the same. I guess what I meant is that I would feel better if I was also out of the pre-diabetic range as well and by a decent amount too.
640347 tn?1228536926 I am a Diabetic type 2 and have been since '96. The normal range for your blood sugar is 70 to 120. I take my blood sugars before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner, and before bedtime. I am on 2 different insulins and on Glucophage 1000mg 2 times a day. I am supposed to take my insulin shots 3 to 4 times a day depending on my blood sugar. Please, monitor your blood sugar and take care of yourself so your prediabetes does not get any worse.
Avatar n tn Hi Dawniem, I am a Type 1 diabetic but not a doctor. I was diagnosed with diabetes as a teenager when i stopped producing insulin. Personally when my blood sugar is running high (normal is between 70-120mg/dl) I feel somewhat light headed as well as sick to my stomache. In addition quite fatigued. You do not mention any other systoms such as frequent urination or extreme thirst which are also signs of high blood sugar and possible diabetes.
Avatar n tn the bakers were enthusiastic about trying out 'diabetic' recipes (at first)... results were frustrating and mixed... SHORT ANSWER: bottom line, no dense flour-based baked good works well with any sugar-substitute, though many sugar substitutes work quite nicely with flourless tortes, chocolate and fruit based desserts, and lighter low-temp/shorter time baking recipes (angel food, etc) LONG ANSWER: Baking with Splenda: Regular Splenda: YUCK! I agree with your experience.
488724 tn?1253554835 Perhaps work with a dietician or get some recipes so that you aren't left feeling deprived and wanting to binge on junk. Hang in there, girl!
649848 tn?1534637300 I've mentioned in other posts, that my doctor recommended the Miami Mediterranean Diet, and I bought the book. It's really a good diet; however, the recipes don't fit my taste or lifestyle. In addition, to that, the recipes were all for multiple portions (most served 4-8), and since my husband would not eat that type of food, I'd either have to do the math to cut the recipes down or eat the same meals for days on end.

1550026 tn?1299339682 My daughter found this book, Gluten Free articles and recipes which we've tried and there is also a GREAT Breakfast bar you make with coconut, dried cherries, etc., bake in the oven and cut up into travel size/snack size bars. But again, what foods should I be avoiding for the "bloat? I am under a lot of stress right now and started with IBM, but again, don't know if it is attributed to the stress, the 'bloat', or something else going on.
Avatar n tn Anybody have any tips on how I can lose weight safely and maybe anybody have any agood recipes that they can share (low fat with no carbs please). Thank you, please use as open forum.
335728 tn?1331418012 The first is breakfast cereal. The second is baked potatoes. People with hypoglycemic tendencies will often have a "crash" about three hours after a carb-high breakfast. They may also find that something like a milkshake can cause what my household calls "sugar coma." - that deep unavoidable nap wher you sleep like the dead. To diagnose reactive hypoglycemia, the gold stand is the 5-hour Glucose Tolerance Test. Typically GTTs only go three hours.
649848 tn?1534637300 M's may not have done as much damage, weight wise, as you think, but that would depend on how much you ate for breakfast and lunch, as well, plus how much energy you burned. Loss of 1-2 lbs/week is considered safe weight loss, so if you ended up losing 1 lb over the week, you did well.
