938718 tn?1323787114 Sigh. I tested positive for gestational diabetes. I thought I was eating healthy, but I guess it's not enough. I'm just waiting now for an appointment at the diabetic clinic. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn I've always been a diabetic but the most helpful thing for me has been going to this program for preggos with diabetes, sweet success. They set me up with a counselor to answer all my questions and pretty much educate me on what can happen to me and my baby girl and a dietician to give me tons of food ideas. Ask ur doctor if there is something similar you can be referred to. I'm in southern California.

Avatar f tn Try doing the diabetes/gestational diabetes diet...the basics... limit carbs intake to 30g per meal, cut as much sugars as possible (I drank fruit juices, soda, Starbucks coffee loaded with sugar, ate ice cream and candy-- and eliminated 95%), and they have a lot of awesome recipes on pinterest... I was told I have GD and was forced to change my eating habits to diabetic eating habits and have lost weight... I haven't gained anything this pregnancy and I'm 36 weeks pregnant...
335728 tn?1331418012 Then 4 years ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. For lo those 40 years, I never followed the right diet. For the past year I have followed a modified Atkins diet, have lost 40+lbs, and now do not have to take the oral diabetes medication. I'm one of those who can't add much fruit at all, without spiking my blood sugar. Oh well, good thing I love steak, lobster, pork, and nuts and cheese. Rena and Sunny, after a week or so, you won't feel the desire for sugar any more.
Avatar n tn o) you mentioned recipes...i used to make these all the time, and they're very good for you and low in fat: portabella mushroom "pizzas" drizzle olive oil, balsamic vinegar (if you like it), salt and pepper onto large portabella mushroom caps. slice up some bell peppers (red, yellow, green, orange, whatever you like) and place them on the caps. cover with a little mozzarella cheese (or a blend of cheeses) and bake until the cheese has melted and gotten brown and bubbly. enjoy!
Avatar n tn I also take the medication for type 2 diabetes. I also take glyburide for my diabetes. I would say that it is a 50/50 chance whether you would lose weight in the long run as the product wasn't designed as a weight loss product. (but I'm not a doctor so your dr. might be able to tell you what to expect).
Avatar f tn It is the same idea with the truth that hCG is involved with 'gestational diabetes' and 'causes kidney failure, hypothyroid and cancer' statements. These are way out of context. The hCG weight loss protocol is very safe. There has never been an issue noted concerning it causing kidney failure or any other system failure ever. The does used in the weight loss is far less than the much larger doses used for other issues. It is not FDA approved for weight loss. But it is safe.
1160836 tn?1332333769 My DR called.. My blood tests came back normal.. I am not at risk for Diabetes and we can continue doing the meds that I am on to try to get an O!!
Avatar n tn I have not read thru every one of these comments, but was wondering since the Lexapro puts weight on, has anyone suddenly become diabetic as well? My friend had been on Lexapro for almost a year, I believe, and she also had put on significant amount of weight as well as becoming borderline diabetic. Her doctor also told her it doesn't cause weight gain. Her doctor now put her on Zoloft, an anti-depressant in the same class as Lexapro.
