Avatar m tn I just talked to person that works in the GUM clinic to verify what I said and it is the same in the UK as the US. 3 months post the last dose of PEP. You are stuck on the 6 month testing. You need to take it back to the OCD forum.
Avatar m tn I'm in Manchester, is the HIV test in UK all DUO test currently?? and I've made an appointment with the local Sexual Health (GUM) Clinic 6weeks after last unsafe sexual behavior, my doubt if my DUO test result after 6weeks is negative, that means I certainly didn't get HIV ??? or should do the DUO test just after 4weeks?? Is there any difference between 4weeks and 6weeks DUO tests???
Avatar f tn In the UK 6.3 (6.3 mmol/l = 113.4 mg/dl) is considered as being glucose intolerant. The reading to determine whether you are a diabetic or not was reduced in 2013 to 6.9 (6.9 mmol/l = 124.2 mg/dl). It used to be much higher than that before, but I don't know what it used to be. It is highly likely that those people who had complications from diabetes did not control their blood glucose adequately. 6.9 mmol/l = 124.2 mg/dl = Type 2 Diabetes 194 mg/dl = 10.

Avatar m tn We use the FDA and CDC approved testing guidelines. Freedome health is in the UK and have different guidelines. Dr.Hook and Dr.HHH have real world testing experience and are confident to give other time lines on testing.
Avatar n tn m not familiar with medical guidelines in the UK. In the US, the doctor may ordered a clean urine catch to coincide with a fasting blood draw or an OGTT [Oral Glucose Tolerance Test]. If you are concerned about diabetes ask for an A1c test [Hb1c, HbA1c] which is used as the standard tool to determine glucose [blood sugar] control.
Avatar f tn (I realize that not everyone can do this but one wheelchair-bound woman did. I'll have to dig up more of her story, maybe some old emails I had from her. Maybe---- it was a long time ago. She helped found http://www.bada-uk.org/) http://www.barnsleytoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?

Avatar m tn Been doing some more research, and it looks like the UK is adjusting their PEPSE guidelines. Is that where you source your information? Again, I am not looking to start a fight, I am just trying to understand your information sources. Thanks.
3164165 tn?1345333994 Your pancreas puts out insulin to regulate your blood sugar. If the pancreas isn't working properly, your blood sugar will be out of whack....... thyroid puts out thyroid hormones, that have different functions. While both thyroid issues and type I diabetes (don't know your age, but type II diabetes is not autoimmune) are endocrine issues, thyroid levels don't really raise your blood sugar.
Avatar m tn I reversed my diabetes in just 11 days - by going on a starvation diet... "Scientists at Newcastle University had devised a radical low-calorie diet that studies suggested could reverse diabetes in under eight weeks. This involved eating just 800 calories a day (a man’s recommended intake is 2,500) — 600 calories from meal replacement shakes and soups and 200 calories from green vegetables. You also drink three litres of water a day.
Avatar f tn The UK guidelines for PEP say that you should take a test - 4th generation is standard in the UK - at 3 months after PEP - not after exposure but after PEP. There is evidence that taking some types of antiretroviral medicines - HIV meds - will work as a protecton against getting new HIV infection. So it is likely that if you did not pick up HIV on the first occasion then it will have hopefully been averted on the second occasion.
Avatar m tn 2mmol/L and for heart diseased people in the UK they recommend 4mmol/L or less. You are well below the limit. You basically have 2.75 LDL lipids to every HDL. This is a great ratio. Even if heart disease runs in your family, I wouldn't go onto medication unless they dramatically increase. If your Doctor recommends it, I would ask why, given your ratio is so good. My LDL was 278 in your numeracy, which is very high. But this gives you an idea. My HDL was 34.
Avatar n tn Do U.K gum clinics just allow people to take hiv test when they walk in there or do they ask for G.P's referral to take the test? someone fron U.
Avatar m tn If you are not goin to accept it then definitely you believe he is lying as in this post he is very clear about the latest guidelines in UK for medical professionals as they are also registered with health care commission here and are being regulated too. So the only thing i can take it is that you think he is lying even he is a medical doctor and has been clinically active here for many many years.
Avatar m tn As opposed to European (EASL) 2012, Asian-Pacific (APASL) 2012, American (AASLD) 2009, and World Health Organisation (WHO) 2015 major guidelines for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis B, the following 3 guidelines are more strict on the conditions leading to necessity of treatment for Hepatitis B, HBeAg negative carriers: Canadian 2009, Japanese (JSH) 2013, and UK/British (NICE) 2013 guidelines are more "strict" when it comes to treatment of negative HBsAg patients, especially in the
Avatar n tn I have been reading a lot about telehealth in the press and that the trail has been with diabetes, does the system work? anybody got any experience.
Avatar n tn A reading of 6.5 or higher is considered diabetes. Hope this helps. You seem fine by these guidelines.
Avatar f tn I discovered this in the guidelines for UK testing. It certainly supports the case for 3 month conclusivity: Patients attending for HIV testing who identify a specific risk occurring more that 4 weeks previously, should not be made to wait 3 months (12 weeks) before HIV testing. They should be offered a 4th generation laboratory HIV test and advised that a negative result at 4 weeks post exposure is very reassuring/highly likely to exclude HIV infection.
