Avatar m tn he started with the worst situation for interferon, such high hbvdna and hbsag have no hope on interferon mono anyway addition of alinia reversed anything i think that as shown on hcv trials alinia is able to restore interferon response and improve it, this is something we do need on hbv treatments because hbv can stop both our body natural interferon and the injected interferon and make it totally useless
748543 tn?1463449675 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar f tn I did not miss any work but could not tell anyone at work about my treatment. I still suffer depression (ie; suicide thoughts)at times and fight emotional negativity (life circumstances) so I do not know if the negativity can be blamed on the long term drug side effects?. I am usually a very positive person so being negative does not sit well with me. My energy is coming back because I walk two miles a day to deal with the stress. Also, I pray, alot!

Has your doctor told you that there is no need to treat now and that most people with with your mild liver disease are waiting for newer more effective treatments?
Avatar m tn Hi, If anyone can suggest me the best place for treatment of Hepatitis B in India? I have tried hard but could not find a hospital is specialised for such treatment.
Avatar m tn I believe Xolair is FDA approved as an injectible treatment for asthma. Clinical trials for treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria are happening in a few medical centres in the United States and Europe. I am surprised that your allergist would not be able to provide you with information on its availability and FDA status.
678069 tn?1254426377 Never even knew there was such a thing. Plus, I read that there is a new treatment coming out in 2010-2011, which has a much higher success rate. It has me wondering whether I could do without until then. Especially since I have genotype 1, which only has a 45-50% success rate on the treatmen. 45-50?? Is it even worth going through what Im gonna have to deal with?
1058524 tn?1285190840 So when they referred me to my nuclear med doctor, I didn't hesitate to make the 2 hour drive for all of my appointments, and my treatment. I will not make that mistake again... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TIP #1: JUST because the doc you love likes person, or Doctor X....it does not mean you will like them too.

Avatar m tn I concur with rivil, and to repeat what she said , one of the side effects of the meds you're taking is depression,IMO most folks on the treatment suffer from depression from mild up to severe. The best thing to do is talk your doctor about it and get yourself prescribed some anti depressants,This treatment isn't easy for anyone,if your capable of doing it and determined in getting rid of this virus then hang in there and tough it out.
Avatar m tn To be honest I think it's early days, but here in europe the drug is not licensed for depression due to 'the high incidence of acute psychiatric reactions including dysphoria, paranoia, exacerbation of depression and hallucinations at high dosage' (BNF No 59, 2010), plus in the 2010 Scottish Office Health Departments' Evidence-based medicine guidelines- 'Use with caution in patients with a history of mental illness'.
Avatar m tn Trust me, I wish I had been given the opportunity to soak up this information before it was too late. In 2010, I took Cipro for a UTI and it changed my life forever. A round of antibiotics literally changed the path I was walking, into a path that I couldn’t even crawl on. Multiple spontaneous tendon and ligament ruptures, spinal degeneration, and arthritis that is widespread. We are talking multiple joint dislocations and surgeries to most of my large joints and spine.
Avatar f tn You can also find a checklist of symptoms at the ILADS site under Joseph Burrascano's treatment guidelines. Antibiotics will help you while at the same time worsening your symptoms during the treatment because of what is called the Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction. It is the response to the bacteria load dying and releasing toxins in your body.

Avatar f tn follow posts here since your liver specialist is not update or doesnt want to personalize your treatment and just apply guidelines in a blind way, which is bar to wasted time and money we have posted many results on the combination therapy to improve that 8% to more than 40% on interferon results, plus there is a new type of interferon close to approval, interferon lambda, with mild sides and more potency.

351317 tn?1204755471 My P-doc also told me that in the next 10 years there will be an absolute revolution regarding the treatment of very severe uni-polor and bi-polor types of depression. He said that science is just on the cusp of cracking the code to why depression effects so may people and this will result in better medications and better treatments.
Avatar f tn not merely blaming treatment. So far as treatment goes however, it has been my observation that not all people are affected the same. Some people seem very intolerant to certain drugs; others not. I would not rule out treatment. Further, most of the people with post TX sides seem to have somewhat normal labs leaving doctors puzzled as to why patients seem sick.
Avatar m tn half to one third will be found to be hypothyroid, and as a result of treatment, their depression will begin to lift in weeks." http://synthroidhaters.wordpress.com/2009/08/12/depression-explored-with-dr-barry-durrant-peatfield/ From what I see your doctor has a lot to answer for and you need to become your own best advocate and insist on the tests and treatment you need. If they don't respond then you will need to escalate somehow to get what you need.
1193998 tn?1265121197 Since Jan. 2010 I've suddenly gained 16 lbs and can't lose it no matter what I do. (I'm fairly petite and have never had a weight problem until now - I have two hip implants and CANNOT AFFORD to gain ANY weight!) I also have nearly every symptom for Hashimoto's listed on the mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn At that website, under the tab 'About Lyme' is an article called 'Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines' by Dr Joseph Burrascano. It is a classic work in the LLMD arena and while somewhat scientific is quite accessible to nonmedical folks like me. And when you're feeling better, there is a nonfiction paperback called 'Cure Unknown' by Pamela Weintraub, a medical journalist whose family got Lyme, and it's a fabulous book, weaving personal stories with science and the politics of it all.
666151 tn?1311117976 Different Treatment Approaches At the present time there are significant differences between the treatment approaches of those who use Suboxone versus those who use a non-medicated 12-step-based approach. People who stay sober with the help of AA, NA, or CA, as well as those who treat by this approach tend to look down on patients taking Suboxone as having an ’inferior’ form of recovery, or no recovery at all.
Avatar m tn 2 I make no attempt here to describe the phases and intensities of the death-wish in those many years of bi-polar disorder. Before the official diagnosis of manic-depression in 1980, the death wish was not as dominant. I allude to it but do not describe the experience in even the most cursory fashion. In addition, I should emphasize here that the term episode is a variable one and really needs a separate analysis, if this statement is to be as comprehensive as I would like. 3.
Avatar m tn 1) Your dr. recommendation for the Defibrillator it is based on guidelines that indicates that it is advisable to implant it with EF below 35% because there is a risk of sudden cardiac death. 2) Most of the guidelines also indicates to wait for 6 months on "optimal" medication before implant, to see if the EF grows with the medication. 3) If you get the Defibrillator implanted, chances are that you will no longer be able to perform your present work.
370801 tn?1264408618 before i knew it after 4 years on No xplode my depression kicked in, i had to quit all caffiene and stimulants, by 2010 i had crashed HARD, suicidal. I believe it has damaged my brains serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine production. so i have starting taking 5htp, L-tyrosine. please comment wether this makes sense (high caffiene/ aminoacid intake for longterm can cause decreased production of dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine.) Thanks veryyy much.
Avatar n tn As for depression, lots of people get through treatment without problems with depression (I am one) and most who do suffer depression find relief with ADs, and are able to stop the ADs when treatment is completed. By contrast, I have lost friends to liver disease and they suffered cognitive damage along the way, together with other misery. Its a horrible death. Do I seem paranoid, depressed, or significantly cognitively impaired to you?
Avatar m tn During the the first treatment my doctor follow only HBV-DNA, which was negative during the treatment. One month after the end of treatment my HBV-DNA was 240 IU/ml. My doctor order me to test HBV-DNA, and HBSAG after 6 month off the treatment. 6 months later my HBV-DNA was 1.4x10^4 IU/ml and Hbsag 1080IU/ml. My doctor was happy about Hbsag and order me to test only Hbsag (not HBV-DNA, it is not necessary he told me) 1.5 years after the end of treatment. 1.
Avatar f tn Good for you for taking charge! There's no specific definition for an LLMD, no test they have to take, no particular guidelines they have to follow. This is the wild side of Lyme treatment. I have not had IV antibiotics, only oral, so I can't say. I also have not taken the medication you mention, so can't comment there either.
Avatar m tn Also, is there a study of this treatment ongoing by the national institute of health? Any info on this treatment or results of the study?
Avatar n tn In all current clinical practice guidelines, antiviral treatment is recommended for patients who suffer liver cirrhosis or active hepatitis. Although surgical resection and loco-regional therapy can be applied to small HCC, about 70% of the patients suffer HCC recurrence within five years after the surgical resection. It is still unclear whether antiviral therapy can prevent HCC recurrence.
