Avatar f tn Your DR cares about you and wants you to be functuning and happy ifthey didnt they wouldnt be prescribing you pain meds. Anti-depressants are often used along with a pain med regimine to help with pain and depression from pain. DR's never think us unstable for being deprssed. It's expected. Chronic pain is debelitating in so many ways. Talking to friends is great, but talking to someone that can teach you coping mechanisms in dealing with the depression and pain is even better.

Avatar n tn (i don't want to be on oxy if i don't have to) i've never expierenced this level of post physical depression. is there something about oxy that gives it more of an emotional "buzz saw" than other opiate withdrawal? it seems to me there is, as i've expierenced withdrawl from other opiates and all though they were physically more unpleasent, there was not this compent of emotional. i'm already taking 400 mg of welbutronn a day, and that seems to help some.
Avatar m tn Helen Mayberg, MD, a researcher at Emory University in Atlanta, takes the patients no one else can help. The severely depressed people who enroll in her trials have not responded to medication, to talk therapy, or even to electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), in which voltage is applied to the temples of a sedated patient to induce a seizure. She is achieving astonishing results: 75% of her patients get better and stay better. http://www.everydayhealth.

Avatar n tn Hi guys, I am having a really bad day. As you may remember, I am on day 11 of no percs. Yesterday, I came down w/ strep throat, and the pain has been horrible. I have not been through the flu, or strep, or even a cold w/out my happy pills! I almost went to a walk in clinic today. Rationalizing the whole thing! I thought that I was over the worse, and now this. Also, w/ this struggle came back that old familiar depression. Also, my dh has been really good up until now, but he now feels like...O.

Avatar f tn I understand that someone has to be the first and that this is where they learn their skills but it is not making this decision any easier. My husband also suffers from depression and I am worried about this also being an issue as we make this decision..and the recovery after surgery. I understand that there are many issues dealing with recovery.
Avatar n tn Check down on the bottom of the forum in the health pages and look into the Thomas Recipe, Im not familiar with it myself but it involves alot of vitamins, amino acids and other supplements that help some through the withdrawls. Its hard to quit if you really dont want to, so I would do everything you can to convince her that the time is right and she has the proper support to help her.
98523 tn?1322078246 )One in the hospital ask for patient care advocate or representative and he/she can ell you how to get help. B y the way, you can get medicare'disability on your own--but it takes time. I am researching that myself--and for legitimate reasons. (I am already getting life-time pension from school system --which began by their ASKING me to go on disability for clinical depression ( a condition for 25 years, finally out of control). However, pension is not sufficient anymore to live on.

Avatar n tn hi sharon: welcome to the forum! always room for just one more addict in here, so come on in! years ago i was quite the consumer of "herb." 35+ years of opiate abuse "cured" me of it. then just recently, i started to have a few puffs of this silly **** every day to help overcome the depression of opiate w/d. so anyhow the "jane" did help some with the depression, but introduced problems of it's own.
Avatar m tn I have had all I can stand and don't want to do this anymore with no end in sight, seems like every time I think help is coming it seems to be just beyond my finger tips and then it just fades away. I lost my insurance in July which eliminated any possibility to be able to get back to the one group of people that can help me get back to normal.
Avatar n tn Within a 2 week time frame, my mother passed at the age of 54,(3) days later I had to send my husband to a 9 month detox center especially for doctors in Atlanta and My stress and coping level were non-existent. Avatar n tn I have read on another thread here that acupuncture has helped another case of traumatic mydriasis. I am not sure if it will help me, but I am going to try, because they claim that acupuncture realigns the body and helps it heal to its fullest potential, and that's what I am hoping for, to heal. I have found a local doctor in the area that specializes in acupuncture in the eye area. I am hoping this will render the best results reasonable.
1260255 tn?1288658164 Dear Audrey I think that the suggestions made by everyone are very helpful and as a bereavement counsellor I also think that practical help initially is most appreciated. Saying "do ring me if I can do anything to help" is not a help but doing something positive and proactive is a help. Many people are frightened to talk about suicide for fear of saying the wrong thing..and it may take time until they are ready to talk..
Avatar n tn He has thought about having the PE tubes put back in and giving it a little longer this time to see if they will help. We are both scared and upset and have no idea what to do at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Is there any other treatment at all for this disorder??
Avatar n tn Negative brain and C-spine MRI don't rule out MS 100% of the time; they can be negative and one can still have MS (small percentage of people). But MS symptoms (numbness, tingling, etc) don't usually present on both sides of the body at once as you describe your symptoms as presenting in your legs or arms. I don't know if the aspartame (or whatever artificial sweetener that is in your diet coke) could cause those symptoms or not.
Avatar m tn These findings are exciting because they suggest depression truly is a risk factor for dementia, and if we can target and prevent or treat depression and causes of stress we may have the potential to help people maintain their thinking and memory abilities into old age," Wilson says.
Avatar m tn Hi, if you want to specifically rule out Lyme, postural BP and all other things she has could be Lyme, then you have to find a Lyme literate doctor. We call them LLMD. Mainstream doctors use testing that give you many false negatives. LLMD use a specialized laboratory called IgeneX. Lyme can come with co-infections, this further complicates things. I have 2 co-infections. She doesn't ever have to have a rash to have Lyme.
Avatar n tn From the beginning I have had severe fatigue, weakness, joint pain, loss of libido, depression, anxiety, and hypertension. It has not improved at all and now I have noticed a whole bunch of other weird conditions in the last few months.
Avatar f tn If that is the case, you have no purpose to have a good routine for and it appears that you are now suffering with depression. Depression exacerbates (makes worse) any physical problems you have, as well as manifesting new symptoms. Having any type of medical condition that is chronic (long lasting), can lead to depression. It would be a good idea to go back to your doctor. So as you do not forget anything to tell him, write it down on a piece of paper, which you can hand to the doctor.
Avatar n tn When things are good, he cooks dinner, brings the plate to me, he washes dishes,he does the laundry, he goes grocery shopping, he repairs any thing that breaks, he reads to me, he pays most of the bills, never asking me for anything, he makes love to me like I am the only woman on the earth every time we make love, this happens several times a week, he calls me terms of endearment all of the time without being asked, I have tried assisting him in every way, I give him money to help with bills a
Avatar n tn Some people expect to be pain free and will accept no less - this will never happen for most of them. So it sort of sets them up for a life cycle of pain and depression. There is always HOPE that things will get better or science will get better. Having said that .... Your C spine MRI sounds like you have a narrow spinal canal that you were born with - this will get worse with age and may or may not cause a problem. It might be causing a problem now, but I can't tell based on the report.

Avatar n tn Recently from his medical records I found that during that surgery his body temperature went down to 84 and he went into respiratory failure and this was why he was place in ICU and on the ventilator for 3 days. My question is could this be the cause of the anxiety and depression and personality change. My husband went into the hospital one person and came out another.
1110049 tn?1409405744 Oh it would be wonderful if it was all clear cut. Half the time the medical profession are fumbling in the dark about how to treat depression. At least we are living now, where there is a lot of help. Years ago we would have been so much worse off if we had depression and other mood disorders. It is good to know there is ongoing research into mental health problems.
