Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera side effects discharge

depo-provera

Avatar f tn i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.
Avatar n tn Despite what docs reassure you, please READ THE SIDE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS OF DEPO PROVERA ON THEIR SITE!! Here are some things you may not have been told: * antibiotics DO decrease the effect of any birth control, whether it is oral, topical, or by injection. * bleeding can and does occur during pregnancy, and esp.
Avatar n tn Also just before the shot was due I would bleed a brownish discharge for 14 days. It was disgusting. I suffered so many side effects with the shot I had to go off it and back onto the pill. Mr Dr hates the Depo shot and was glad when I wanted to go back on the pill. But I did go on the Ortho Evra Patch when that first came out and that was really good. I'm off bc now since we are ttc.
Avatar n tn The most important thing to remember about Depo, is that you need to take a calcium supplement while on it. The side effects from Depo are the same side affects you will experience from any birth control. Just make an informed decision.
Avatar m tn It doesn't sound like you're pregnant. Every symptom you described is side effects of the depo, as well as pregnancy. But you've also had periods and negative blood work. When women get worried about something and fixated on a problem (which is what it sounds like has happened to you) they tend to notice even the smallest things their bodies do and increase it. It's like with a headache. While you're distracted you might not notice it as much, but if you think about it the pain is a lot worse.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced any bad side effects from the hcg shots? I am administering them myself and just want to know what to look out for.
Avatar f tn I assure you that there is no need to panic. Heavy and prolonged bleeding are common side effects of starting Depo shots and usually it takes 3 months for such menstrual irregularities to settle down.Depo shots are to be given every three months, so for the first shot this kind of menstrual irregularity can occur.
Avatar n tn days when I can barely function and have also experienced symptoms of hypoglycemia and panic attacks and or crying jags for no reason. I have been reading a lot about the Depo side effects some women have had and they mirror mine. I've had a thyroid test and it was fine, so I don't think that I'm diabetic. I have been trying to eat well and clense with milk thistle to try to hasten the exit of the Depo.
Avatar n tn There are many side effects that some Dr.'s fail to mention. It just doesn't seem healthy that I had no period for 6 years. Maybe the Depo is what is wrong now since I am not pg. If I were you I would check with my Dr. and consider stopping the Depo. There are many forums like this one for Depo. Good Luck to you.
Avatar n tn I have had 2 depo provera injections since february 8th this year and have felt amazing, Ive had no side effects and no periods it has given me my life and freedom back however yesterday I started with discharge and light bleeding, is this normal when I havent had a thing since Feb (6 months ago) have to say I am gutted :(
Avatar n tn ________ When you are on Depo-Provera you do not ovulate and the lining of the uterus thins out. One of the common side effects of Depo Provera is irregular bleeding. Generally when you stop DepoProvera you will resume your periods within 3-6 months. some women take longer. Have you started your menses yet? Some of the bleeding may be related to not ovulating yet and shedding the lining of the uterus irregularly.
Avatar n tn Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?
Avatar n tn I'm just one person and this was my reaction to the shot but everyones different and Im sure there are some people that have used the Depo shot and not had any side effects. Best of Luck!!
Avatar n tn Well, in February 2006, after having a Laparoscopy and a discussion with the Gynaecologist I went for DEPO. WOW… I got the side effects, gain weight, swing moods, I even forgotten the rucksack on a train station when on holiday in Fort William…cool…I was crying from nothing, shooting to my husband for nothing, having periods now and then, spots, bleeding, etc, etc.
Avatar f tn I had two chocolate cysts that were around 6 cm x 6 cm x 6 cm, the size of a tennis ball. My gynecologist wants me to take depo provera until I am in menopause. I am only 41. I refuse to take it afraid of all the side effects. I agree we are almost made to feel like we HAVE to take it. My surgeon was very forceful about me having to take it. She does not know I never filled the prescription. Not even willing to take Alesse the birth control pill. I am just waiting and seeing.
1160836 tn?1332333769 My doctor thought it was enviormental (exercise, stress...etc) as I just started to go do body pump right around that time. Every cycle before that was 30-31 days to the day!! So we will see.....
Avatar n tn (not this one) Okay, now, my concern is the effcts after STOPPING yasmin. I understand that all bc pills are different and so are we women as far as side effects go. I have read postings about women who stopped taking yasmin and have experienced the following: - anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations and fluttering - depression - excessive weight gain - hair loss *I already have a prob. with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, so I am currently on medication.
Avatar f tn I have been on the depo provera shot for just over 10 months and haven't had any issues at all! None of the side effects took place. I haven't had my period at all either! Which is perfectly fine with me. Until today. I started with the brown discharge and then bleeding lightly. I read some posts saying stress could cause this, is this true? Because this has been a very stressful week. My fiancé is coming home from the military, dog got hit by a car and killed, etc.
Avatar f tn I had the Depo Provera shot back in June and was due for another in September, however did not get another due to its side effects. I did not have a period the entire three months and a couple weeks after I was due for another shot, I have been receiving discharge that's sometimes bloody and sometimes brown, typical spotting not enough for any tampons or liners or anything. I figured because I hadn't been ovulating from the shot my system was just cleaning itself out.
Avatar n tn i had side effects from the shot and i could not be on it. because of bleeding and cramping real bad. the only thing that i can tell you is i would not recommend staying on it. once your months are up on the shot go on a different birth control method. it sounds like what i went threw and yes it messes with everything in your life.. bleeding 24/7 tell me is that what sounds like fun. NO. i went on Yaz the pill and it worked out great for me.
Avatar n tn However I have now had this one for 3 years and I have been experiencing side effects, smelly watery discharge that is best discribed as rotten meat, bright red spotting and sometimes I feel like everything is swelling up even though its not, occasionally I feel like I have been kicked between the legs.
Avatar n tn Within the past 2-3 weeks I've been having these headaches and on one or two days dizzyness, no vomitting but a bit of nauseau and within the few days saw some pinkish discharge on two separate occasions. The Doctor was all set to help bring down AF with the use of Provera until I told him this, now he wants me to wait another week. Is it possible that I might be pregnant???? I went by him a week and a half ago during which time he did my annual papsmear and an ultrasound.
Avatar n tn i have been having dark brown discharge for the passed 5 days. This morning it was like my period there was blood but it goes back to being just brown again by the end of the day sometimes so light i barley notice. I dont know what to even think?? You got any ideas?
312323 tn?1193300534 Hi my name is Roxann and this is my story. I hope I can find a lawer or someone else with the same symptoms so that I know im not crazy.
Avatar f tn To suggest a pharmaceutical solution that doesn't treat the actual problem, has significant side effects and needs ongoing monitoring to avoid dangerous complications is both an unneccesary expense and has the potential to complicate issues, adding problems on top of problems. I am not at all opposed to interventions, treatments or pharmaceuticals - even if they just relieve discomfort - but they should not be used willy-nilly.
Avatar n tn I have been on depo provera for some time now. I recently had unprotected sex. I am worried about the possibility of pregnancy. But with the depo I no longer have my periods so I don't know when would be the best time to take a pregnancy test if I feel I may be pregnant. Can someone give me advice?
Avatar n tn I just got the depo shot about 4 weeks ago and my breasts will not stop hurting i get pelvic pains, and have to pee alot too they say that some of the depo shot side effects are similiar to being pregnant i dont like what the shot is doing to me can somone tell me if this is normal or could i be pregnant on depo
Avatar f tn pdf Even if you're not on Depo Provera (the name brand drug) there are also off name brands that share the same ingredients (that's the word to use...) of Depo and it'll have the same side effects.
