Avatar m tn I have read at length about many different side effects of Depo-Provera and though I never experienced hair loss as a symptom I understand that can occur after a period of treatment. I have also read about the effects of hormones and their influence on each other and am hoping that this is an isolated incident due to the ever changing flux in my hormone levels recently.
Avatar f tn Ive bee on it for 5 months now and the only side effects i have is weight loss even though it doesnt say that on the info you get with the shot. And i never got pregnant yet. And with my first pregnancy i was on the pill took every day at the same time and i got pregnant.
Avatar f tn I been on Depo for two years now and i know that one of the side effects is hair loss. Today i just relized that i am getting a bald spot on the top of my head thats like a quarter big. Could this be because of the birth control?

Avatar n tn My doc will put me another med called Aldactone which will hopefully help me grow my hair back. Now I was on Depo-provera - which apparently is bad for PCOS, so we are waiting for it to get out of system before we move on. Hope fully it will be out so the blood test are correct :) I go in the begining of June.
Avatar f tn Hello, One of the most common side effects of Depo, is nervousness and possible depression. There are more facts that you can read about if you google 'Depo-Provera Facts and Side Effects'. If you have serious anxiety or depression, this may not be the birth control for you ~ speak with your doctor about this first before you decide...
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy occurring during the use of the shot is usually an undetected pregnancy before the shot is given. One of the side effects of Depo-Provera is irregular menstrual bleeding. 50% of women will stop getting their period after 1 year of the shot. The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
Avatar f tn just had it taking out because my hair was comin out in the back and side. i had to get all my hair cut off. now i am back on da depo shot i never had any problems with da shot. With the implanon i had long spotting that last 4 two weeks, mood swing that made me yell at my son over lil things, headaches when the spotting was coming. it took my dr. ten mins to remove it.i thought it would be good for me since i got layoff at that time, but i need my hair.
Avatar f tn Quick question... which Depo are you on? There are two kinds, that I'm aware of: Depo Provera or Depo Lupron. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it. The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.
Avatar n tn I have been on Depo Provera for 13 years. I have not had a period in probably 10 years or longer. I got the flu and started taking flu medicine and two days later all of the sudden - a period. I am freaking out. What would cause a sudden period after such a long absence? I want it to go away NOW. Did the flu medicine kill my depo shot?
Avatar f tn I've been on Depo Provera for almost a year but i've decided to not get my next shot in two weeks i'm not wanting to get pregnant anytime soon but I'm wondering how long will it take for the Hormones to leave my body and what kind of side effects should I expect?
Avatar f tn Can the depo-provera shot be given in between periods and still be affective? What would the effects of this be?
Avatar n tn Were you told about all the side effects depo could have? Did you start taking a calcium supplement? I started Depo march 2003 and gained within the year 60lbs. I had saver chest pain, and went to get an ekg. I had severe head aches that came about suddenly. I had dizzy spell at random times and most important I was never told to take calcium until my last shot in may of last year. After taking that last shot I was given my first pamphlet about depo and it's side affects.
Avatar f tn i decided to not go on any other birth control for awhile. What are the side effects of coming off the Depo Provera and is it ok to not be on any birthcontrol at all for awhile??
Avatar f tn Seeing how you said the 3 month injection you mean like Depo Provera. I was on Depo for 3 years and it seems to sound as though you're dealing with the issues of the side effects of the birth control. It happens and really sometimes you get them sooner or in your case later.
Avatar n tn What are the side effects of depo provera?
1305767 tn?1361192676 I think hunger is a side effect of Depo but after being on it for nine months I would think any side effects would have occurred earlier than just the past few weeks.
Avatar f tn It is important to take a calcium supplement while using depo provera. Weight gain is probably the worst side effect. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Breakthrough bleeding and really long periods are common side effects on depo provera. It's actually one of the reasons most women stop using it. Unfortunately, because it's an injectible birth control method, there isn't much you or your doctor can do if you are having unpleasant side effects. You just have to wait for the 3 months to be over and your body to either adjust to it, or to see if it just won't work for you.
Avatar n tn The Depo is one of the most effective birth controls on the market, but has some side effects that put women off. (I'd never personally use it. I went with a non-hormonal IUD) Side effects you might get are odd spotting, heavy/lighter than normal periods and over time no period, weight gain (this is a real common one) headaches, breast tenderness and a few other I can't think of. You can google for a proper list of side effects and the number of women who experience them.
Avatar f tn I will try it but I am so sensitive to all medication side effects. I had issues on Sprintec. The dr said if Provera doesnt work its either Lupron or Hysterectomy. I dont want a hyster so I may have to try Lupron. Thanks for your input.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend started using the depo-provera shot about a month ago. We abstained from sex for a week after the injection just to be safe. Two weeks after the injection we had to make a visit to her family practice doctor because we had a hunch that she had a bladder infection. We were right. The doctor prescribed her to take 250 mg of Ciprofloxacin twice daily and of course Phenazopyridine for the pain.
